Translation of second link ...

According to reports running on the net, Nintendo would decide to unlock the ability to use the second core of the console for games.Previously reserved exclusively for the OS, 25% of it would now be used by developers.
Second, Nintendo would have found a way to make stereoscopic display much less strain on the CPU. These two points accumulated leads us to we expect a new generation of games more optimized. (Info found on the forum Gamekult) In a different area, it appears that the allocated size of the games eShop increase from 16 MB (DSiware) to 512 MB (3DsWare) Nintendo also considering the possibility to patch the game via the eShop.

That sounds fairly farfetched, but if it improves future 3DS games and turns out to be true, all right!

I read a variant of this rumor that said if developers want they can use 25% power but it will completely disable the wireless functions. So no online or seeing when friends are online. I sure hope that part isn't true. Really this whole thing sounds a bit too odd for something Nintendo would do. I doubt this will happen but if we can have the 25% extra power without any harsh compromises then cool.

Not that bad of an "upgrade" in my opinion.

You see troll, but it's genuine bewilderment. I can download files 6+ times as big to the PSP. Why Nintendo felt the need to impose a limit at all is... crazy.

I don't understand the limit at all. If they gave some kind of pertinent reasoning as to why they impose them that would be fine, but I haven't seen such an explanation.

You'd think they'd want bigger, better games on their service to attract more customers and gain a better reputation in the download market. I'm not saying bigger games are always better (That's right, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.), but I'd rather get "full" games than little "app" type games.

Why does it matter if you can't download games over 512MB?

Things like that shouldn't matter unless it imposes a big hinderance on developers. It's a decent amount. And there are amazing games that don't even go past 512mb on other platforms (Please see games on Steam).

As for this 25% power thing... Don't know what exactly to think of it. Cool..?

The limit is indeed disheartening, if true. While it means that (theoretically) the majority of the DS library would fit on the eShop, I'd still like to see some 3DS retail games show up there too. It also limits the potency of demos/trial versions. I suppose 512MB is "sufficient" for what Nintendo does, but it's a far cry from ideal or even standard.

on one hand, it definitely should be far more

on the other hand, the far inferior Wiiware still had the single best game of 2008 so I don't exactly see this exactly being the biggest problem.

Nintendo could always up the limit to a gig. But I don't think we'll be seeing 3DS retail games anytime soon on eShop. On PSN, yeah, you can download PSP games, but most of them are far under 1GB anyhow with exceptions such as the bigger games like Peace Walker, LBP, Dissidia, Modnation Racers- there really aren't that many PSP games that go over 512MB last I looked around (I have 4GB memory stick so I had to consider space). If Nintendo does start selling 3DS retail games, I'm gonna have find a 32gb SD Card :D

Plus, devs have done an amazing job working within the limits of Wii Shop and DSiShop, so 512MB is pretty decent and I expect to see bigger games from the best devs on WiiWare and DSiware.

I'm sure developers can get around with the possible 512 mb limit. And, with some compression and efficient coding, I'm sure games that'd normally be a GB or a little more could fit in the shop.

Okay, I'm being a little too optimistic. Efficient coding for a big game is impossible since it'd require more money and time, and deadlines limit that kind of practice.

Final Fantasy games. White Knight Chronicles, Dissidia Final Fantasy, Warriors Orochi - there are a lot of PSP games ("retail" games) that are bigger than 512 MB.

I'm not saying that games under 512 MB are necessarily inferior games (Art Style, for instance), but I would rather have the option to download games of any size, than be restricted. After all, there are games over over 512 MB that are great as well.

Aw, you're just disappointed that you won't see your beloved games on the shop. :D

Nevertheless, a limitless limit would be nice :3

Oh, YellowChocobo would like the option to download full retail games, possibly so he can complain about the small amount of storage on the 3DS. Hear that Nintendo? Better get on that, because YellowChocobo is running out or things to complain about. Look, it's already gotten to the point where he complains about an unconfirmed, positive rumor.
