Oh, I do have this one, and I totally agree!

This. I still have this game with box and manual in pristine condition, I loved this game so much! This was my introduction into the Mario franchise and easily my most favourite game I've ever played. Unfortunately my GBC has died and it's been left in it's box gathering dust forever more.

I can't say theres a difference cause when Zelda first started It was only on a console now that same game is on 3DS on the go. But if you meen what series are better on console or portable I would say sonic is doing better portablely than on consoles as of late I think the 3DS version of Sonic Generations will be better gameplay wise.

Lifes like a game there are those who are good at it and those who need some practice.

The gap between console games and portable games are shrinking thanks to consoles like the PSP. With that said, I always prefered portables so I could lay down on comfortable positions while I play my games.

difference is that console games are taken more seriously most of the time. To the point that now all the handheld games are trying to be more like the console games.

I'm still waiting for the day that The Portable/Console become one System. Like with the PSP, you can just plug it in to the TV and there you go and also Game company's could focus their time on a single system instead of having to choose.

Well I think they're both awesome but handheld games are slowly just becoming portable 3D consoles... I just wish portables stayed 2D, so nintendo can release 3D games on consoles and 2D ones coughcough METROID coughcough on handhelds.

Super Mario Bros Deluxe (GBC) is one of the best Mario games of all times in my opinion. So many people don't even know it exist, and tracking down a copy can be quite difficult.

Which is why that game needs to come to virtual console.

.......... why? We already got/are already getting SMB so why would we need a port?

because Super Mario Bros. DX is better and has the cool SMW yoshi coin collecting and fun bonus stuff and can tell your fortune and doesn't force you to look on the internet to find a secret code in order to not have to start from the beginning.

If Nintendo releases better versions of the Ambassador games what's the point in giving them to us in the first place?

Ambassadors are only getting the NES games early and free, whey they update it later it'll be launched to the public. I don't doubt that it was a great port but why would you take it over the NES version? It's got some extras sure, it's got a save function and an overworld map and it apparently even includes the lost levels but it's not full res. You'd be playing a squished version of the game that's either blown up and blurry or put into a smaller GBC box.......

The NES version on the 3DS is full NES resolution, full frame on the 3DS screen and very, very sharp looking. Then there's the fact that the NES VC games on the 3DS are all going to have a restore point feature anyways so the save feature is rendered useless. So is it worth sacrificing a sharp display and a full frame game for a bit of the lost levels and an overworld? I think not! No contest IMO.

Papa_Godzilla

so far i loved every mario game, handheld or console.
i had major great time with new super mario bros, mario 64 or super mario world were awesome.
super mario world on ds was awesome as much as the console version. so... BOTH !

both really have their benefits. I like how a console game usually has amazing graphics and is much more immersing than a handheld game, but handhelds also have the portability factor and that they are a sizable dose and don't drag on for too long. So I'd probably have to go with console games being better, but thats only because you can't have a game like FF13 or Skyward Sword on any handheld (for now....)

Depends, alot of the good games I love to play are on the consoles, but deep down, I wish that I could play them in the palm of my hands and up in my face, I personally find it more compelling that way. I stay at a small apartment most of the time and I have no room for consoles let alone an SDTV, so handheld gaming gets the most play time from me. That said, I still love to play the PS3/Wii/Xbox360 with friends and family, there are some game mechanics for consoles that handhelds cannot perfectly emulate. Would be nice though, if in the future all handhelds and consoles merge into one machine.

Folks don't forget-

Chrono Trigger came out on DS and was also released on VC. Kirby Super Star Ultra came out on DS, and the original title came on VC. And aren't there two versions of Pacman on VC too?

As well as Sonic The Headgehog games on Genesis and Master System. On VC.

I'm pretty sure everyone of us would rather experience Super Mario 3D Land on the big screen

Nope, if the game was identical then I'd much rather it on a handheld. For a Mario game there are no issues with controls because an analogue stick and a jump button is all you need for Mario.

Galaxy was awesome but not because it was on a big screen or because the Wii controller was inherently better than what the 3DS has. It was awesome because it looked great, had awesome levels and controlled beautifully. The best of Wii Mario beats the best of DS Mario hands down because the DS had no chance of competing with Galaxy. The 3DS is a bit of a different story.........

And I like how Super Mario 3D Land blends 2D Mario elements with 3D Mario. I can't wait to get my hands on it and hopefully, Nintendo rolls out a demo of the game this fall.
