The 3DS is going to get an original Zelda title eventually. So, what do you think it should be like? Should it be 2D or 3D, or ave normal Link or Toon Link? Think of some ideas below.

Actually you might wait a really long time to get the original Zelda because it was a freebee to Ambassadors and they are probably going to want to keep it exclusive for a while.

I would like another Zelda like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, as I think a Zelda game with the top down approach would make for the best use of the system's 3D. I would like to see the game go back to the open seas, bringing in random weather effects and first person views while sailing to look for fish to potentially catch. Having the ship gain a submarine feature later in the game would help add to the vehicles toon Link has already experienced. Like with the ship and train, I would keep the sub design old-fashioned to keep the series' vibe of being set in simpler times. The game would feature an overworld in terms of on the ocean surface and its depths. Have the game use the touch screen for item usage and the circle pad for movement.

I don't see really how the touchscreen style of the DS Zeldas would carry over well onto the 3DS. The 3D screen wouldn't really serve much of a purpose with that format. I would guess that button controls would have to make a comeback and the main action would have to go on on the top screen. I would like to see a true, traditional top-down Zelda, set in Hyrule, in the style of A Link to the Past or the original, but of course modernized graphically and in 3D. I feel like that style would perfectly suit a handheld Zelda title.

If Nintendogs + cats could have its touch screen controls make a smooth transition to the 3DS, I don't see any reason why Zelda can't do the same. It could use the same approach as + cats for the touch controls.

In Nintendogs + Cats, all the main action is on the top screen. The touchscreen is mainly used as an item inventory/action icon area. In the DS Zeldas, you controlled Link by moving the stylus in front of him on the bottom screen. If they kept this style, they would have to do do away with 3D on the top screen because it would just look weird and wouldn't make sense. Basically in order to make the visual style of the DS games work on the 3DS, they would have to employ button controls for movement and use touch controls for item inventory and maps like they did in OoT3D.

In the original Nintendogs, the touch screen is used and viewed for most of the action. In Nintendogs + Cats, the touch screen is used for the action but it is viewed on the top screen. The DS Zeldas can have a similar transition. Have the games go from having the touch screen used and viewed, to having the touch screen used and the top screen to view the action. Link's movement can simply be mapped to the circle pad, and for lefties, the circle pad add-on (or face buttons). Input via the touch screen, but have the results be seen on the 3D screen.

Something like Windwaker but longer and not like the DS controls hated those and if he gets a horse instead let him get a Yoshi that be EPIC they should add humor from time to time in Zelda games like mashing Nintendo games just slightly

That and some other Nintendo-themed tables would be awesome for that Zen Pinball 3D thing. With the November DLC update, they could definitely do that.

Oh, and why is there so much hate for the DS Zelda games? I loved both of those.

i still want to see a modern day zelda, obviously things would need to be changed though. i can see the world similar to what it is like in the movie "Priest" where (spoiler ahead) The church has secluded society into small cities and the places are complete hell holes. link could get a gun (just a thought) and still have his sword. Ganon or another evil being could control the cities, and link has to save them. then there are smaller towns in the outskirts free from ganon's power. i would think it'd be interesting. give it a darker palette in the cities and a brighter one outside.

Just a thought- I think it would be cool if they increased the difficulty a bit to the standard of the original zelda for nes. It wouldn't have to be as hard, but make the gamer use their cranium to figure out where to go (I realize you do this in the modern zeldas, but I'm talking about the amount of thinking you have to do in the original).

They should continue on doing the 'Toon Link' games for the handheld systems IMO. The next one should be more lika Wind Waker since the 3DS doesn't lack the same hardware limitations as the DS. I want a big world and not just divided parts like islands or stations.

That's like saying I would like to see Mario as a French waiter instead of an Italian plumber.
