How do you move your DSiWare to the 3DS? I'm using the same SD card I used on the DSi, so there should be games on there. But is it a wireless transfer? Is the option to convert DSiWare even available yet? I'd like to know.
Also, does the 3DS have its own backup memory, or is the SD Card the only way to save data on the 3DS?
We don't know yet. If you're worried about your DSiWare, don't trade in your DSi.

At game they got me to copy my dsi ware to my sd before i traded my dsi in.
Hate to break this to you, but you won't be able to transfer those games now - you need both systems.
This is quoted directly from the section on the back of the Streetpass Mii Plaza booklet that comes with the 3DS about the features coming in an update: "Note: To send content from a Nintendo DSi system, you must download the Nintendo 3DS transfer tool from Nintendo DSi Shop."
In other words, to transfer it you need to download an app onto your DSi and use it to transfer the data. If you don't have the DSi with the games you want to transfer on it, you won't be able to transfer them. Sorry.
there's a System Transfer option under the Settings, but when you tap it it displays a message saying something like 'that functionality will be added in a later Update' or whatev'. I'd assume that may have something to do with it.

I wonder if flip note studio is also included in the transfer or do you guys think we'll get a flashy new 3D version?
How the heck are you going to draw in 3D space?
By using layers, presumably. Each layer would be a distance in front of or far away from the screen. Like, the first layer would be popping out of the screen, and the last layer would be all the way in the back of the screen, and there would be some layers in between.
I'm pretty okay.

If thats the case it's not too bad as i only used the free points and my nintendo stars to buy dsiware.

Yes this is true. E-mailed Nintendo about this and they said.... -• If you no longer have access to the original system, no transfer can be completed. Data cannot be transferred to another system over the Internet, using an SD Card, nor can Nintendo complete the transfer for you.
Because the data transfer occurs via local wireless communication between systems, you will need to have both the original system and the Nintendo 3DS with you to perform the transfer.
The ability to transfer data from a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL to Nintendo 3DS will not be available until a system update currently scheduled for late May of this year.
I know our DSiWare will only be playable on one system, so it'd make sense for it to be physically deleted from the DSi in the process. After all, why leave it on the DSi if it'll be inaccessible?
