Guys, one last question about breaking parts off of monsters, and apologize if someone previously answered this question. When you break a piece off of a monster, do you actually see the piece laying on the ground? Do you need to sheath your weapon and pick it up? I now know that I have successfully broken pieces off of monsters but I don't remember seeing anything or picking anything up. When I did the 2 star quest with the Seltas, I completed the sub-quest which was to break it's horn. I could see that I broke it both visually seeing it missing from the monster and in the quest menu, but I don't remember seeing an actual part or visual cue to pick the horn up.

No, it just breaks and the parts appear in the blue part of your mission rewards at the end.

Mind that some materials do appear as shiny spots in the ground (mostly when you scare the monster or it does something special) and that some parts do drop (like tails), but most just break like I mentioned.

You don't know how happy I am to hear this. After you took the time to help me out last night, I felt really bad missing out on the part after both hunts. I thought I did something wrong or missed a visual cue to pick it up.

Yeah it's mostly tails, and shinies. I think even in generation 3 you could break off Barroth's scalp and carve that. lol

That's the only other part I can think of that you could see drop in the last 3 version of the game we got.

I just attempted Apex Rajang a few minutes ago, long story short he destroyed me within a minute lol. I suppose I'll have to try honing a weapon before I can even think of attempting this beast alone. (Or with some people, I dunno) I'll just have to stick with Seregios for now to get some Zenith Wyvern Gem L's.

Took down Tidal Najarala and Tigerstripe Zamtrios today. Boy, they're tough....the Zamtrios in particular. At least Najarala would sit still for a couple seconds on occasion so I could get a few hits in. Zamtrios was just nonstop movement the entire time. I burned through all my Megapotions and all the First Aid Meds+ I was supplied with, and was on my last few newly combined Mega Potions when it finally went down...phew

Like I said, tails are pretty much the only part that you can cut/break off and carve. Everything else just breaks and you get wound rewards in the reward box at the end of the quest. There are rare exceptions to this (Chameleos has a small lip on his tail that can break off- that's the only one I can think of in MH4U- the previous game had many more exceptions). As for breaks, just google what parts can be broken before each hunt. Some monsters- like Deviljho- you can actually break the face twice. Same for Nercylla's back and Gore Magala's horns in rage mode IIRC.

Apex Seregios has a 40% chance at Zenith Wyvern Gem L- surprised you haven't gotten one from him yet. I'm down to hunt some Aoex Rajang, but we may want to let in randoms (usually only top tier hunters even attempt to join an Alex Rajang room lol). I want to start working on unlocking the Golden Rajang quest by hunting 80 fanged beasts, and all the other Apex monsters by hunting X amount of each.

@JaxonH You know my luck with materials is bad, just look at the Gravios Pallium I've yet to get lol. Are you up for hunting Apex Rajang right now? You can start the room if you are, otherwise just mention me when you're ready to hunt tomorrow.

Those were some very fun hunts @JaxonH! I'm definitely loving the Seregios Lightbowgun set as it's really good at hitting hard. Though I did find it dumb when we were hunting with a person that illegitimately had a Samus helmet since the DLC isn't even out yet.
