@Scollurio
Thanks for the insight on the demos. Can't wait to play them now. I'm looking forward to MH more than Castlevania. I have a CPP so i'll be trying it out to see how it feels. I have a $50 gift card and will have to choose one over the other. Reviews pending...

@Scollurio I agree for the most part, however the default camera controls (on the touchpad) seem pretty mediocre to me, especially during underwater battles. You should definitely try the harder monster, which is an underwater sea dragon.

Major MH3 Wii veteran here.....bit underwhelmed by the 3DS demo (don't have Wii U yet).....

..controls dont feel too great, maybe I need to adjust but wondering if this may not be the version I'm looking for....

MH3U
looks like the wiigame: aweseome!
controls are very good for such a complex game on a handheld. no need for second slide pad. first i didnt knew how to lock on enemies but after i knew how to do it i didnt have any real problems with the camera.
not sure if i will get this, because i already had the wii version.
in short: it's a fullblown monster hunter game for the 3DS in nice 3D !

Castlevania
HOLY MOLY this game loos amazing in 3D. maybe the best use of 3D i have seen so far on the 3DS. the enviroments, charakters and weapons are so detailed and just beautiful! the dynamic camera is ecellent. the castle is eyecatching. effects also loog very good. i can not point out enough how great this game looks!!!
controlls were hard for me. i never played a castlecania game before so i died quite often. couldnt really figure out how to properly block, but i always have this problem with such games. still managed to play through the demo and had fun. platforming controlls are also not that easy but hey maybe it is just me. i didnt like the quicktime events, because i always have problems figuring out what facebutton is where. still used to the old xbox controller i think though that is like 8 years ago
it is really cool that you have the option to set notes on the map. for example if you find a secret area but you do not have the ability to go there yet, you can set a note on the map and go there later without having the trouble to remember where it was. this will be very useful in the full game.
in short: beautiful, BEAUTIFUL 3D game with interesting gameplay and much exploration.

The demo doesn't support Circle Pad Pro for some stupid reason. Seriously, the reason that the CPP was made for and it's not usable in the demo.

The controls on the 3Ds were awkward. Controlling with the Dpad felt unnatural, so if I get this game, I'm getting the Circle Pad Pro as well.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

Ok just had another run at monster hunter, would love to play all night but... still got... friggin work... to do... argh.
Anyways. Im impressed with the preset weapons so you can try them all but I absolutely cannot decide for one of them, which one to use when I get the full game. I like the light bowgun and the long sword so far, any insight on this of some Wii MH veterans?

Btw, I played it briefly on the Wii (just 2-3 hours, having seen basicly nothing of it) and I didn't have any trouble with the controls, nor do I have any on 3DS, it really looks and plays gorgeous, but I guess everyone got his own preferences!

It didn't feel awkward, but it would have been nice to use my CPP and see if I preferred using it.
At the end of the day controlling the camera yourself is much better than using a lock-on system.

If you keep hammering L twice a second while moving around it's almost the same effect!
Yeah I know... crappy workaround, but works for me!

i first played with the hammer, because it was my favourtie weapontype in the wii version. then i tried the dualblades which were kinda lmae cause they only had standart attacks as far as i can tell.
i will try other weapons later. except for the gun things. i think they dont really fit into the theme of MH

as for the camera controlls:
just tip the onto the thing on the touchscreen when you see the enemy and it will lock onto the enemy every time you press L

I loved the L auto camera and the virtual dpad on the touchscreen
Much better than using the actual dpad..

I have to admit I didn't dare to fight that thing yet, but Ill try it out and see how it is underwarter, I can imagine though that it can be tricky. But I think it's fair of capcom to make the second monster an underwater battle so you can experience all circumstances of camera control before you vote with your wallet. Im still irritated by that weird Capcom guy showig up at the PS4 press conference yesterday but sometimes it seems Capcom does things right. Sometimes. Rarely.

I had no problems with the underwater controls, the L button helped a lot and when there was big monster around, the virtual dpad was more than enough to get me around.

The real problem was the fact that that damn plesioth kept running away like a chicken and I ran out of time right before I could land the final blow.

I could even say that the fight was easier when plessy was on water than on land.
