Hey, I'm not trying to argue. Just stating what I think. I won't bother either- and it's not really a matter of who's right. At least, I don't think it is.
Nor am I taking it as a serious comparison. Just evaluating what I see.
Well if I can say something, I downloaded this video to my PS3 in 720p, and I don't see how anyone can think what was shown in that gameplay trailer is possible on the 3DS, especially after seeing the somewhat lower-res textures and effects in the 3DS trailer. It's so beautiful~
They're not going to change the whole look of the game if that's what you're wanting, they just smoothed it out and made it HD. Which I am very happy for, not only because it means I won't have to pull out my PS2 to replay the game again, but also because the original looks like crap on my HDTV. MGS3 has a certain 'look' to it, just like a lot of other games. They weren't aiming for 'real' here. Fake is good.

I agree with Komic, Konami seemed to have just tacked on a HD layer and updated the looks. Compared to the PS2 version it looks a lot crisper and sleek looking.
I think if Konami invest more time into the 3DS and giving it some better shading and lighting effects it could probably look nearly as good as the PS3s version. Now, before you shoot me down zez hear me out:
If you look at what Capcom did with the Resident Evil: Revelations demo with the shading and lighting effects they used it makes it a lot crisper, shinier and sleeker than, for example, most Wii games and even some 360 games. And not to mention that was only a Demo so who knows what else Capcom could do with it.
But I think this game could well divide most players, because we'll have our own taste as to what we want this game to look like. You can stick with the original on PS2, have the HD version on PS3 or get the 3D version... up to you what you go with, but I know what version I'm getting.
The ending sequence when Big Boss and Eva are running away from Shagohod, Big Boss has the eye patch by now and when he aims down the sights on the launcher he's using his non-existent eye to aim with.

There is nothing wrong with updating old games so they look better on current hardware. It's been happening since the beginning of videogames. Super Mario All-Stars is the most famous example I can think of, and no one complained back then.

I never said it was. I'm ready to buy this game every time it's rereleased. Pointless rebutle bro. But there is a limit. The game should really be at least 10 years old if you're going to remake it. Or incredibly outdated.
