Oh geez, you're girlfriend is the immature one if she thinks playing videogames is childish.

She doesnt think playing video games is childish (she has an xbox one). She thinks having a nintendo ds is childish.

I don't...I'm a Toys r' us kid

the only reason why I am glad to have grown up is that now I can afford a lot more things from Toys R Us lol

Nope. I'm 27 and my 3DS XL is one of my favourite consoles that I've ever owned.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

buddy. I am 26 with a toddler. some people here are way older and also play a 3ds. All this means as that you haven't forgotten what it's like to be a kid. That is necessary, helps with children, and is attractive to certain females. Do not let society dictate what is "acceptable" in terms of entertainment.(unless it's illegal) Does your GF want you to be a Dudebro gamer instead?

Think about this. There are 10 Year Olds who play garbage like CoD just because those games are violent. I'll be 16 in less than two months, and I'm playing stuff like Mario, TLoZ, Pokémon and Sonic.

Apparently your girlfriend is no different from the 10 Year Olds who bash on Nintendo consoles because Nintendo keeps trash off their systems more than often. My advice is to tell her to STFU, and if she doesn't then tell her to GTFO.

She just trying to act edgy. She probably plays Candy Crush in her phone. Not to mention she probably play COD all the time on her Xbone, aka, Microsoft Daycare Service.

What she is really saying is put down the 3DS and pay attention to me.

If you want her to stay your girlfriend than pay attention to the hint man. You should have time to play your 3DS when she isn't around.

Yes. It's even more childish that you care about what others think of you.

That works, lol

No it doesn't. How someone could think of saying that to someone, even as a joke, is shocking.

@blaisedinsd @Aviator I feel like that is terrible advice.

If you are offended by her remarks, you should make her aware that you are offended. You should do the same, if you do not appreciate her remarks; tell her you don't.

Oops, ignoring girlfriends to play video games is actually great for relationships....yeah thats right.

There will always be people who consider any Nintendo system childish.....if that bothers you hide your Nintendo habit. I am 38 and I don't care if people know I play Nintendo games....maybe if I was 18 it would bother me but I grew up.

I am not saying ignoring your girlfriend is good, I am saying that her commenting that your hobby is childish doesn't mean she is saying she wants you to pay more attention to you. I also don't think anyone should feel like they have to hide the fact they like Nintendo, especially from someone they care about and hopefully that person cares for them as well.

No. There's nothing childish about a specific hobby. If you're spending all your time on it and never hanging out with your girlfriend, then there's a problem, but it isn't childishness. If this isn't the case, then you have nothing to worry about. Except for maybe an eventual breakup with your girlfriend who seemingly calls hobbies she doesn't approve of 'childish'.

Well she is saying the 3DS is childish, not that videogames in general are childish accoriding to the OP.

Either she is just making an excuse to try and get him to put his 3DS away or she simply has an opinion about the brand that really shouldn't be an issue except that the OP is worried about actually being childish. If it's the first I suggest he pay attention to his girlfriend. If it's the second I don't think it's really much of an issue if they have different opinions on the Nintendo brand. By making this thread I think the OP is showing that he is worried about being considered childish in general for playing with Nintendo. You can make the argument that he needs to get over it as much as she needs to be sensitive to his insecurity.

Well, the 3DS does look like it was designed by Fisher Price, so your girlfriend is partially correct.

If you play a sleek looking handheld like the Vita in public you will have girls crawling all over you.
