I'm 18 and own a 3ds and my girlfriend calls me childish? What are your opinions about playing the nintendo 3ds as an adult? (I'm bad at coming up with reasons in arguments help please?).
That mentality is so outdated at this point. All I can say is to not give a crap and tell her to deal with it, and if she has a problem with it there's the door.
It's kind of baffling to me that someone would ridicule someone else's interests like that past high school. It's more childish than the actual act they're claiming to be childish.
Attacking someone else's hobby and using a cliché like 'childish' is just an example of how simple-minded many women are.
If you were to submit to her digs and stop playing 3DS then you truly would be childish for not having the strength of character to say you know what you like and you're not going to take anyone's sh*t for it.
What hobbies does she have? If she's got nothing better to do than try and undermine your hobby she's clearly in need of finding a hobby herself.
She's being childish because she can't deal with the idea that you don't want to devote all your spare time to her.
Honestly if she can't accept that she's the one being childish. Next time she thinks playing video games is childish show her some youtubers who are doing quite well playing games.
Unless of course you shirk all your duties and responibilities to play video games all day and let her pay for everything and that sort of thing then I can see where she is coming from, but playing video games is not childish that would be you.

Sounds to me, with all due respect, like she is insecure about people knowing her boyfriend plays video games, for whatever reason she is embarrassed by you playing video games and is trying to shame you into quitting.
I say nonsense. IMO, shaming others into changing personal hobbies out of embarrassment and insecurity, now THAT'S childish. The old 80's "video games are for kids" days are over.
Now, there is no doubt that many (mostly folks old enough to have grown up before the era of console gaming) still look upon video games as a childish habit. And there is no doubt that perhaps some of her acquaintances will see you in that light, be it right or wrong. But she should be mature enough to acknowledge that THEY are the ones who should change their views rather than you change your hobbies to conform to what they approve of.

Thanks everyone who replied. It's not that she doesn't do things herself its just that she has a tough exterior or stance towards things and is very opinionated. I'm not trying to come up with ways to attack her. I'm just trying to come up with ways for her to realize that doing things like these are very acceptable.
Playing Video Games is about as childish as watching movies or reading books. Even if you enjoy material aimed at children it is not a childish act unless you act childish while playing.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I think the main thing that goes for her opinion on this topic is because of how many children actually play the nintendo 3ds compared to adults. Nintendo is a little more aimed to kids but that's because kids love playing video games. So do adults. I like to think that nintendo likes to aim their demographic to people who just like playing video games and want to do it conveniently. There's nothing childish about wanting to play video games on the go as compared to playing games on a mobile phone.
Playing videogames is like reading a book, you step in another world and it keeps your imagination on its toes. Keeps you young, I can testify being 51 myself.
It's not just young people that play videogames! 😄 Check out my gaming blog at www.ladiesgamers.com.
no it doesn't.. unfortunately lots of people out there thing video games and especially Nintendo ones are childsish, there's not much you can do about that kind of people, you just have to deal with them.
