Your significant other is unlikely to be a fan of everything you like or do, just as you are probably not into all of her interests. It's not a big deal and not worth worrying about too much. If she dumps you because of video games, there's probably a half dozen other things she didn't like about you anyway.
That's trash. And no, it's not childish.
If she was actually serious, tell her you DO like the 3DS. It's that simple. She shouldn't break up with you because of that...
God first.

I'm 34. IMO you can be a childish adult whom plays a 3ds or you can be a mature adult that plays a 3ds.
I don't think the childish portion is mutually exclusive.
To be fair, we had a thread that SMEXI made which was very similar to this, that was indeed a joke thread meant to show how incredibly awful people on the site were. The lesson to be learned from then was: internet gamers take their gaming way too personally, and overracting instead of simply trying to work things out ultimately makes both parties look bad no matter who was originally in the wrong.
There, I just summed up this whole thread in two sentences...
try talking to her ... that could help just ask her why she feels you are childish playing then respond saying your reasons to why you feel she wrong ok. make sure to keep to a defense though instead offense. like heres example what i meen you want to say somthing like oh ok well 3ds games are fine any age to play some like majora mask deal with mature themes. avoid saying oh yea well you play cod on your xbox with the 10 year olds ... just a bad idea it will turn this to fight ... you fail to make her change though thats alright. just ask that she accept you playing instead stop calling you childish. i think she really cares then she would respect that stop being harsh about this
just a nintendo gamer on a nintendo related site (who wouldve seen that one coming?)
the random user name randomly became a Pikachu.

Agreed. A one and done poster who makes some strange thread to create a debate/argument and who will never post again.
Shame that some people get so worked up defending a person/scenario that is unlikely to even be true haha
Secondly, clicking on OPs name shows that this is a rather bizarre first post from a forum user whose account is only a few hours old.
It might be bizarre, but there is no reason not to post constructively. We DON'T know if they are a legitimate user or not yet. And if they aren't this sort of talk plays right into their hands
If someone thinks less of you as a person because of the kinds of games or consoles you play, that isn't a person worth having in your life, plain and simple.

^^This.^^
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

Lastly, all I said was that I found it funny that someone would ask a question about the popularity of animation amongst gamers on a gaming forum seemingly dominated with fans of animation. Notice how I didn't return to that thread? Because I didn't care. I was making a comment and a bunch of people took the ball and ran with it. It created a discussion. That's what this forum is for.
I think it's funny that in these types of discussions (which pop up a lot here), the only people who are concerned about "looking childish" or "being childish" are, in fact, children.
I think it's important to know what you like and to be true to yourself. We live in a world where if you don't assert your right to define yourself, someone else will do it for you. And they'll do it for their own benefit, not for yours.
Them be the truths, dudez!
