@ Retro_on_theGo Yep you read that correctly. Moving your Dsiware games to the SD card will delete your save file. It warns you though before you choose to send the games to the card. Still it's a load of BS that the games have to be on the system memory to be launched. This needs to be fixed pronto.

No. It doesn't. If you want to save your DSiWare save files and remove them from your home menu, be sure to copy your save data from your system memory to your SD card data. Make sure when you are asked to override your previous save data to say yes, just like in a Pokémon game. There are only a few games where this won't work.
My 3DS only has a little bit of room left. I hope they address this soon or I'm going to have to move something over to my SD card to make room for the next DSiWare game that I download. Good thing everything else loads off the SD card.
Looks like DSiware and 3DS games are saved to the internal memory. Only Gameboy games are saved to the SD card. DSiware games can't be launched from the card itself. I just tried it.
3DS download games are saved to, and launch off, the SD card.
@ birdman13 Oh that's right I didn't think about that. I still hate having to swap a bunch of my Dsiware games to my SD card to make room though. Even worse they are unplayable until you swap them back.

I have a lot of DSiWare games myself. I've wondered about finding space for those 20 free Ambassador games. They're gonna take up a lot of slots on the 3DS menu!
The Menu expands once you fill it
It does? I didn't know that! Thanks for letting me know

Not being able to play DSiWare from the SD card is a big bugbear for me too. I agree it is something Nintendo needs to sort out ASAP And while they're at it - give us a decent friendcode chat system
Still can't think of a better place to kill some time. Playing Solatorobo and Pokemon White. Waiting for Animal Crossing 3DS - it's taking forever.
We don't know for sure, but since the only real use for it would be to function as the DSi's internal memory did, it's probably around 256 MB, split into sections for DSiWare, photos & sound recordings. If you want to calculate the internal memory used for DSiWare, simply divide the block total by 8, as 8 blocks = 1 MB.
Disappointed, I thought you meant there's another update out. Oh well, you're right they do need to make it so you can launch DSiWare from the SD card. I can't buy anymore until I make room.

3ds can go on sd

I found out something even more interesting. If you move your Dsiware games to the SD card it automatically deletes your save file for that game also. This thing's just full of surprises isn't it?
This is why I didn't move cave story. I'm a good 5 hours in that game.

I'm not sure if that is accurate...I'm almost positive I've played a game, moved it to SD, and then played it again and still had my save. That would be completely asinine if this were true. I'd love to check for sure right now but sadly my 3DS is away on repairs...
@ bboy2970 Yeah Sending the Dsiware games to your SD card does delete your save file. It warns you of this before you move the file. As long as you don't delete the copy after moving the file to your SD card you'll still keep your save data. I should have clarified that.
