Aparently you can't launch your Dsiware games directly from the SD card. A while back they updated the Wii so this was possible with Wiiware and VC games.
The Dsiware games still have to be on the internal memory or they can't be played. This kinda sucks for people with a full memory. Now I gotta clean out my fridge as they say.

O.o I thought they were saved to the SD card like 3DSWare.

Looks like DSiware and 3DS games are saved to the internal memory. Only Gameboy games are saved to the SD card. DSiware games can't be launched from the card itself.
I just tried it.

Thats lame because most of the apps are loaded from the SD card unless they just cant do it.

Lifes like a game there are those who are good at it and those who need some practice.

How much DSiWare can you hold with only internal memory?

I think it has something to do with piracy and homebrew. They came up with a way to prevent that on Wii, but maybe they can't go back and do it for DSiWare. That would explain why GameBoy games/3DSWare can still be launched from the SD card.

oops, I miss read DSiware as 3DS vc for some reason o.O
They could do it on the 3DS but I am not sure about the DSi.
I'm sure they could update the compatibility layer to fight piracy on the 3DS.

This really bites. Now my 3DS is full. I'll have to move some DSiware games to my SD card.
If I wanna play them I'll have to move em back to the internal memory again though. Dammit!

I have a total of 10 Dsiware games and my 3DS is already full. This is really pathetic.
Guess I'd better just stick with Gameboy games. At least they are much smaller in size and can be loaded from the SD card.
Good luck downloading those 20 free Ambassador games. Probably won't even have room for them.
I bet they won't load from the SD card either.

I have a lot of DSiWare games myself. I've wondered about finding space for those 20 free Ambassador games. They're gonna take up a lot of slots on the 3DS menu!

I found out something even more interesting. If you move your Dsiware games to the SD card it automatically deletes your save file for that game also. This thing's just full of surprises isn't it?

meh doesnt bother me ATM
my question is how are we going about the GB games they are stuck to the SD card and the 3DS, what if you buy a ton?
can you delete the GB games and still have your file saved?
take out your SD card and watch the GB games go away

They made the Wii VC and Wiiware games launchable from the SD card.
I don't see why they couldn't update the 3DS to make DSiware games load up from the Cards too.
I hope somebody at Nintendo is looking into this.

well i guess it's a good thing i'm learning this now. I'm keeping my DSi but when I'm playing my 3DS (when i get it, waiting on the flame red one), i'll let my son playing it. And if I want to play my DSiware, then i'll just wait until he goes to bed

Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

And why not? They're VC games too, not DSiware

Wait you're save file is deleted when you switch a DSiware game between Home Menu and SD card?
What kind of BS is that Nintendo!? I'm hoping I misunderstood what you meant. That just sounds ridiculous. I think I have more than 10 DSiware games on my 3DS though so you probably have a lot of the bigger games on yours. If Nintendo updated the Wii to launch games off the SD card I don't see why they can't do the same for the 3DS. I'm sure if they get enough whining about it they will.
