You must have an iPhone or iPod touch 3GS turn 3G on your iPhone. Search for access points on your 3DS and the name of your iPhone will appear to know if u are connected to the Internet the sleep mode bar at the top will turn from gray to blue. So that is how to get Internet on your 3DS anywhere!!!!!

I bet that internet is slow as molasses, at least for online multiplayer.

Most smartphones these days have the ability to create a mobile wi-fi hotspot of themselves.

Cool story, bro. I don't have an iDevice or smartphone, so that doesn't really concern me.

Exactly.

I don't have one of them new fangled smart phone things, so I can't do this.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I don't have an iDevice and don't wish to purchase an iDevice so this is utter fail as it is. Also... SpotPass people... y'know it automatically connects to ANY near-by open networks. >.> It's worked for me every single time!

Was considering getting a smart phone next year after my contract ends- buuuuut....

I'll just get another better feature/dumbphone as it's all I need. I'm even using it right now. Opera Mini is one strong browser

And dumbphones don't get them limits and required data plans. And I wouldn't really be using my 3DS to connect to my phone with slow speeds- if I want to browse the internet on the go, I'll use my phone if there's no hotspot around...

I probably made this longer than it should be

Well the 3DS already connects to 'Cloud' for free & add that to my 'Fon' account that gives me free WiFi in hotspots that I get free with my home broadband, my 3DS is pretty much connected all the time in the UK.

Isn't the UK doing some special Space thing... where internet is set to be available everywhere? It takes up signals TVs and radios usually take up or something...

You need 3G if you don't want it to be slow as hell, and the tethering plan costs an extra 60 bucks a month. No thanks.

I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am.

I know Nintendo are using ‛Cloud‛ wireless points to connect to the internet for free, you come across them in most retail places, McDonalds, Wetherspoons, etc.
What makes it better is that you dont need to set up any internet settings or use one of your connections up it does it automaticly and secondly the connection is fast enough for lag free gaming.

... 'Fon' on the otherhand is done through sharing home wifi connections so you can pick up wifi in most residential areas and isnt quite as fast... but between 'cloud' & 'fon' I get great wireless coverage.
