I can't beleive they pulled and XL on me. I think it looks ugly. It also seem more like DS PHATxDsiXL machine. Just so... Ateast it will be good for sales. Bit really nintendo?

Yeah, I bought my 3DS at launch and most probably will not get a 3DSXL. imo, i think that the dsixl was really ugly, the material it was made of was a bit weird. Also, it's all well and good to add bigger screens, but it just makes it more annoying to carry around....
anyway, thats my opinion, hbu guys?

I bought a 3DS and was happy to do so. I've had enough fun out of it to justify my investment.

You must know when you buy something like a handheld games console it's going to be redesigned and revamped as time goes on.

Well I'm a little angry of course - but I'm happy theres a new 3DS out, it looks quite nice.
I tend to only buy every second model Nintendo comes out with though.
GBA, No SP, DS Phat, No DSLite, DSi, No DSiXL, 3DS, No 3DSXL.
According to this pattern the next design will be mine >:3

I'll love an XL for playing my games on the big screen at home, but I'll still be happy to have a smaller one for Streetpassing and gaming on the go, so no I'm not mad, and I pretty much expected an XL to be released at some point.

People will complain about anything these days.

It's your fault bro, everyone saw it coming.

Can't say I'm angry. I loved the DSi XL and will most probably buy the 3DS XL when it becomes available. To me this is great news.

I think the 3DS XL is ugly, tbh, and other than a slight jump in battery life it has nothing to offer me. however, i wasn't really looking to purchase yet another 3DS anyway, so what is there for me to be mad about? if people want it, they'll buy it — i've already got mine, so it's no skin off my nose there.

Gotta provide a revision that suits another crowd's preference something similar to an alternative to the original system we currently have, thats how I see it. I bought this system and was certain a revision would follow in a few years, so I'm fine with it since it would be the buyer's fault. As for the system itself, I'm liking that they addressed the screen scratching issues and opted for a matte finish. I'd be interested be replacing my current 3ds if they came out with a purple color in a year's time. Sucks though that outside NoA territory, you need to buy a separate charger.

Edit: I don't know about you guys but I kinda like the Smoother, Cleaner look of the XL better compared to the current version, take those lower elevated borders on the lower screen for example.

Nope. The XL is ugly. (What happened nintendo) and the colorz dont look right from what i've seen. If I do get one im going to be waiting fot the black one. And it doesnt come with a AC adapter or cradle.

I hope ot bombs harder than the 3DS did at launch.

No one's forcing you to buy this at gunpoint... the XL tends to be aimed at a more niche audience anyway. I can understand if you were angry if it had a second circle pad so soon but it doesn't. It's just a 3DS that plays the same games just with bigger screens.

Yeah that niche audience that likes bigger screens

I believe they call it the whole world.

^ I don't know about you but most people I've met are perfectly happy with small screens as long as it keeps the system portable.

I don't have a problem with it because it doesn't add any extra features.
It's just an option for people who want to sacrifice portability for a larger screen.

For me, the current 3DS is the perfect size.
It fits nicely in my pockets, is very comfortable to hold and I can see the screen just fine.
I think DSi XL was horribly ugly (and uncomfortable to hold from my short time playing one) and this even beats that in the ugly department.
If I ever decide to get a second 3DS, it'll be another good (original) model.

But I'm glad they did this, for the sake of the people who find the original model too small.

The people you've met are not a good representation of the entire population of consumers. I'm guessing statistics is not your strong suit.

Do you not follow any other electronic sales? There's a reason nearly every cell phone commercial tries to brag about how large their new screen is. I understand Nintendo fans have any innate desire to downplay these revisions, but doing so by saying this is for a niche market is just stupid. They did not utilize the time and resources to revise their handheld for a niche audience. That's ridiculous.

AlexSays

Woah calm down. I didn't intend to downplay the 3DS XL at all, I am interested in it myself. Geez.

Maybe I should have been clearer and said the XL might not be the OP's cup of tea since the DSi XL was aimed at older people with not so good eyesight and the same people would very likely prefer this new model.

So you think they spent the dev time and the money to make this for a certain age demographic.

Sometimes I feel as if I have to do the thinking for all of us. This is intended for everyone. Consumers, of all ages, like things on bigger screens. As with every other similar product on the market. The idea is to make the most amount of money with the least amount of effort, it's called efficiency.

Making a handheld targeted for retirement homes would not be efficient.

A lot of people complained about the XL because the gigantic size made it look 'ugly' and 'uncomfortable'. Clearly they were not willing to sacrifice portability for a larger screen but Nintendo catered for others who were willing to have the extra bulk if it meant larger screens. There's nothing bad about that. I'm not going to stick around and argue about this, there's no need to be so condescending.
