For everyone else, buy this. In terms of price, protection, storage, functionality, and quality, it's probably the best all around portable console case I've ever seen. I actually wrote a long review of this, but apparently reviews aren't allowed in the forums now.

I saw that one at best buy. It's just that little case inside the bigger one though. Is it good for keeping the 3DS safe and does it hold any games? Or does only that bigger case hold the games. I was going to buy it but didn't have money on me.

@Retro_on_theGo You say you saw the removable mini case from the item I linked to being sold alone? Or am I misunderstanding you? That sounds unusual.
Anyways, the mini case alone is good for protection. The material is thick and durable. It's not 100% impact or crush proof, but it's plenty good for almost any situation. Storing the case inside the larger case only gives it that much more protection. The materials are very good quality.
As far as storage, the mini case alone has slots for 2 game cards, and the larger case has slots for 27, plus a mesh pocket big enough to hold a charger and a slot for an extra stylus.

Stop complaining and GO PLAY GAMES.

i bought the 3DS core starter kit, which included:
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=&web...

  • carrying case + cleaning tissue
  • lens protectors
  • 2 stylus
  • 2 game cases
  • headphones

the case is top notch. the 3ds fits perfect, and i even think it will be perfect with the powerpak+ from nyko. a thing to think with the aluminium cases that will or came out. it has a small place to fit 3 ds/3ds games and your spare stylus.
the only downpoint of this case is the rather large buckle with 3ds logo. most of us will probably trash it away.
else than this, it lightweight and seems to protect your 3ds if it ever falls. its in my cargo pants pocket and its just fine.
the protectors are essential
the downside are the headphones, which are pure trash. the sound is ridiculously LOW, playing the 3ds with them is almost futile. i have to put the sound all the way up to slightly hear something. same goes with my ipod. they should have not included this junk and reduce the price. The sound is bland, almost no bass or trebble.
all this for 25 bucks.
i was about to buy another one but i needed the protectors so...

Lets see if its still fine after a year of carrying, but so far so good, i recommend it over the huge epoxy thing that came out at the same time. I think there is a version with the carrying case only (without the earphones crap) but it wasnt available at my local store.

well, it depends what you want of your case. for me, i need it to stay low profile in my pocket, so i cant go with a large thing like this. no doubt its protective and keep your games and accessories safe. But its not going in my pocket all day long.

until I find more reviews about the nyko powerpak+, i might try to get an luminium case so i can open the 3ds to take picture and put it back safe in my pocket.
my current carrying case doesnt allow me quick acces like this, stays quiet in my pocket.

Nintendolife desperately needs a search function because having threads close sucks...

Anyhow, this is the casing I got:

Untitled

It will be arriving on the 21st of April (approx). I'm sure it will work with the cradle as mentioned in my other closed thread. And it'd be fun to see people think I have a special orange 3DS

@abgar

Are you seriously going to carry that around? I have to wonder who came up with this zany idea.... It sure is unique and original though.

@Komicturtle: as the quirky person i am Absolutely! It looks like it has a lot of space and it looks soft... As in "Drop 3DS, nothing happens"... I am not so sure about using it as a puppet though...

Are you sure that kind of "second skin" hard case won't damage the 3DS finish?

I'm sure. Because it has some type of soft material in it to prevent that from happening and heard some good reviews on it too.

I have a case like that for my DSiXL and it works really well. Fits nice and doesn't scratch the surface at all. Also gives the impression that it's a different color than it really is, at least on the outside.

Yeah, I have something similar for my Mac Book Pro. So, I'm glad they have an orange one available online. I think there was this special Japanese website with something similar to this with ALL these cool looking colors and it kinda looked better- less they are the same. I think someone posted it around here...

@komicturtle92 Would that have been www.dealextreme.com? I haven't seen it posted but I have bought the odd thing from there and most turn out ok.

just posting the images of the plush case on this thread too.

Just informing: I received it.

The thing is huge! It's more of a traveling bag because it obviously has lots of space, but the plush head itself is the biggest part so big the red felted inside looks round from inside, as if it were overstuffed or something. But it is soft... and kind of confortable.

The only real flaw i can see is that the hind feet are kind of up, they can't touch the floor when the head is looking foward..

Anways, i am happy with it, i will use it for long trips and vacations... And it was free!

I have this case, and I can reccomend it. It might not protect against a high drop, but will keep those scratches off, hold some games, and look extremely classy.

I'm not sure on getting one yet. I'd want something very robust and 99,9999 percent waterproof.
What do you guys think about this Sujiao Hardcase ?

That one looks pretty neat! i may get it if i see it.

Edit: after playing around with my plush puppet bag thing, it turns out that playing with the 3DS in it is very confortable, it gives it the prefect angle to play while in a table or a bed, which makes it perfect for nintendogs! (or any other all touch game)
