Edit: derp, should have actually read the article. Still, it was already known that you could unlock the AX tracks by beating all the Grand Prix tracks on the Master difficulty.
@123akis
Lol, math failure. Add the rest of the numbers, and the people either buying the game or not affected by this outweighs the number of people whining about this. And of course, many of the people complaining will likely get over their rage by the time of the games release and buy it anyway.
@NImH Exactly. It's just a delay, people, it's really nothing worth boycotting over. This isn't the first time a game has been delayed.
@Dreamcaster-X Alternatively, boycotting might convince Ubisoft that there's just not a market for Wii U games, making them abandon the platform altogether.
OMG UBISOFT DELAYED A GAEM! NO COMPANY HAS EVER DONE THIS BEFORE!
Yeah, the delay sucks, but I've seen people calling Ubisoft the new Capcom because of this. Sorry, but no. I may not like everything Ubisoft has done or is doing, but they are NOWHERE near as bad as Capcom.
@edcomics Bayonetta 2 is being published by Nintendo, so that's not multiplatform.
Seriously, people? I understand being upset about the delay, but are you really getting this upset at this game being made available on more platforms? It's not like the Wii U release isn't happening. This is worse than the complaints about the Bayonetta 2 thing.
I don't care. It still looks like a good game, doesn't matter that it's not a Wii U exclusive. A good game is still a good game, no matter what platform its released on. It's not like it's not coming out for the Wii U.
The one thing is I wonder if there will be differences between different versions. 360/PS3 don't have tablet controllers, so I don't see how that functionality will be ported.
@treeofmana As far as I can tell this game is just a port with new art assets. Which means most of the hard work involved with making a game is done. The work being done on this is not even close to the work done on a full AAA game. Maybe that's worth $60 bucks to you, but it sure isn't worth that to me.
@thelastlemming
I'm not objecting to the price JUST because I have low income. I can afford $60 every couple months. My bit about the income was just in response to Blue Yoshi. As @ToxorAxiom said, even if income weren't an issue, I wouldn't buy this game* for $60.
*Assuming the remake is just a graphical overhaul with gamepad/miiverse functionality.
@Ryno_Choryzo I have disposable income, just not much. $50 a month. I never said anything about catering to me. Just that people like Blue_Yoshi shouldn't get angry at people for wanting to save money.
@Blue_Yoshi I'm a college student living on his own. I'm unemployed, so I don't get a paycheck. The only money I get is a $50 monthly allowance from my parents. I have to spend my money very carefully. Don't complain about people being stingy - sometimes they don't have any other option.
@OorWullie Or I'll buy it when the price drops(probably used). I don't care if it's not "just" a re-skin, it's still not worth full retail price. $40-50 would be more acceptable to me.
@LavaTwilight $60 is the standard price for AAA games in the US(except on handhelds, where its usually closer to $40). Whether or not the $60 model is actually good or justified is actually a pretty heated debate. Games like this(such as the Halo Anniversary remake) usually have a lower price than other AAA games.
@AbeVigoda Subjective. The original graphics are just fine, and in my opinion look better. They have a more cartoony(not a bad thing) and timeless feel to them. The new graphics, while I'm sure are technically "better", don't look as nice to me.
So basically, assuming that there's no major changes(no new dungeons, mechanics, islands, etc.), you're asking me to pay $10 more for features I expect from a Wii U game and graphics that I consider inferior. Sorry, but no.
@Koto Not sure how what Windwaker is doing is all that different from what other HD remakes are doing. Heck, I'd actually prefer if it was just an upscaled version, because the original graphics are much more aesthetically pleasing to me.
@AbeVigoda Well, for one I already own Wind Waker.
But even if I didn't I'd still rather get the used version. So far as I can see, this remake is just a new paint of coat(which looks worse than the original IMO) with a few features that I would expect on a Wii U port. That ain't worth ten bucks.
Plus, if/when GC games become available on Wii U VC, those will probably be much cheaper.
@DePapier [citation needed] Unless you can prove to me that Gamecube VC is 100% happening, then I won't believe it. Sure, it probably will at some point, but this is Nintendo, and they don't always do the obvious thing.
Either way this price is still too high. If Gamecube VC is happening, and WW gets added then people will probably just go for the original.
@DePapier
But its only about $40 or $50 used(shipping included). Of course its expensive new, it's not being produced any more, so new/factory copies are going to be collectors items.
So to answer your question: yes, $60 is still too much.
@FubumblR I'd rather Greatfish Isle NOT get a dungeon. I liked that Windwaker kinda subverted Zelda formula by having 2 macguffins and dungeons...but then NOT having the 3rd dungeon. I'd rather a fleshed-out Ghost Ship, and possibly a fix for the Triforce fetch quest.
@Randomname19 Until we see how much of this remake is "new", full price is NOT fine. If it's just a graphical upscale w/ miiverse & gamepad functionality, then it's NOT worth full price. If it turns out to be a 'director's cut' that adds extra dungeons, and maybe fixes some other stuff, then I could see it maybe being full price.
@Amigaengine That's stuff I expect with a port. I don't imagine adding Miiverse functionality is all that hard. Can't be much harder than adding trophies or achievements to a game. Playing on the Gamepad? Again, I doubt that'as anything really hard.
@player310 I don't care that they've added Miiverse functions. They'd have to redo the game anyway because this is a port and not just an emulated version.
I don't care how much work went into this version. It's still just a reskinned version of Windwaker.
@SkywardLink98 OoT3D shouldn't have been full price either.
@Tech101 I understand that. Doesn't change the fact that it's still likely going to just be Windwaker with a fresh paint of coat, and that's not worth $60. $40 maybe.
Good article, though you missed a few games(the BS Fire Emblem maps and FE12(the second DS remake).
Also, this is off topic, but I saw no mention on this site about the fact that Melee made it into EVO. Considering y'all encouraged everyone to go donate, I though it was weird that you didn't report on Melee's victory.
Fun fact: Mars is an alternate romanization of Marth's name. In fact, there was an OVA adaptation of FE3 in the Nineties where it his name was localized as Mars.
@KnightRider666 3rd game was never released because Nintendo/Capcom found it too difficult to implement a 3-way linking system, so they went with the simpler two-game system.
@josephgee I don't think TP is nearly old enough to be talking about a remake just yet. It's still on store shelves, for crying out loud. Unlike WW and MM, it's still readily available on a wildly popular platform.
@Moshugan The one thing with the Ghost Ship is that I feel it might end up feeling redundant next to the Earth Temple. Though it should at least be more than a glorified submarine. Give us a boss fight at least!
@drumsandperc92 I don't think the World Beneath the Waves should be expanded at all. Considering one of the themes of the story of the game is being able to let go of the past, I think letting you explore more of Hyrule would be dumb. Also, the design/layout of Hyrule changes in like every game. ALttP didn't even have a Castle Town.
Plus, there's literally nothing down there. I don't think it'd be very fun to explore.
@DrKarl No I don't. He's incredibly annoying and sends you on a bunch of tedious fetchquests. Plus, he practices slavery(no, really, he does. It's in the game).

Shame about the GC broadband adapter. I feel like if it had gotten more use, the Wii would have had better online.

The whole "Greatfish dungeon" thing is just a rumor, and I for one would rather not have a dungeon there. I kinda liked that the 3rd pearl didn't require you to go through a true dungeon - it felt like a nice subversion of a series cliché. What I would like to see is an expansion of the Ghost Ship. That thing got a lot of build-up, and it felt like a huge disappointment when it turned out to be just a submarine with a few Poes and a Wizzrobe.
