For those not in the know, which looks like EVERYone on these boards, Renegade Kid is a small studio composed of people whose main experience with video game tech was working on N64 games. Which is why they became Renegade Kid and only specialized in DS games, because DS had the exact same graphics tech as the N64 and they already had an engine built for it.
Renegade doesn't have the time or resources to build a completely new 3D engine. So you can expect all of their 3DS games set in a 3D environent like ATV wild ride and this FPS to look exactly like their DS games enhanced with 3D. But they had, without exaggeration, the single best lookin 3D engine on DS. So it's not like this or any of their other 3D games are ugly by any stretch.
The environment looks amazingy creepy. But I do hope this first person shooter has somethin to shoot with
@undead_terror: ya, it might be a new IP, but Jools promised that fans of Dementium would dig it so I'm not expectin a game with rainbows and unicorns (though an FPS where you could ride unicorns would be pretty freakin sweet)
Does it make ANY sense that the DS, with its extremely limited graphics tech and memory, had at least 8 major retail FPS's (some of which were Xtremely high quality), and by comparison the 3DS, with it's very high quality graphics tech and decent amount of memory, will only have one stinkin eShop FPS by its 3rd bday??
Only way you can you explain it is that the 3rd parties either, A.) are boycottin makin a game that'll require a lot of dev resources until the 3DS has two sticks, or B.) the 3DS ownership skewing way towards casual/kiddie types scares anyone besides Capcom away from bringin hardcore games to the system. Option B don't really make sense considerin the DS had the exact same type audience and it got multiple CoD entries
Jools is the MAN. Stylus control was pretty obvious considerin the Circle Pad Pro hasn't even been released in the US for the 3DS XL. There just aren't enough CPP's in consumer's hands right now to make a game that only offers dual-stick control. Which is probably why we haven't seen any major first person shooter franchises like Call of Duty coming to 3DS. The big 3rd party companies are only used to dual-stick controls and they're too lazy to program multiple control schemes.
We're pretty much guaranteed two more 3DS redesigns over its lifespan: a 3DS with 2 sticks and a 3DS XL with two sticks. And the perfect way to unveil that 3DS with two sticks is to pair it with a Metroid Prime 3D announcement at E3 this year (hint, hint Ninty)
How bad does Nintendo of America BLOW?? Reggie, where's my XL CPP, Game Gear games, and Luigi's Mansion bonus stuff??
Nintendo of America really freakin SUCKS. Not only are they always slackin off when it comes to 3DS virtual console releases, but Europe gets a glow in the dark game case AND a bonus item with this game and we in the States get jack squat?? Gimme a break
Glad to see ole Ninty likes to save their major game reveals to the VERY last second before they release. The good news is that everythin Ninty revealed during that last Ninty Direct is due out by Summer. Which means we have no idea what they're plannin for the Holiday season. Catch my drift? What I'm sayin is Ninty got a whole lot more 3DS surprises comin our way either at E3 or even more likely at a N. Direct takin place shortly before or after it
I'm a grown dude and I consider myself a hardcore gamer and YES I would buy this. There's no one that's been to Disney World that wouldn't agree it's one of the most magic places on Earth. And I'd buy a copy for my niece too
Grown man...seeking infinite joy that life has attempted to rob...Buzz Lightyear...fun...but...hardcore gamer...can't...screw it...DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I crave great games. Does a game need multiplayer to be great? Negative. It just needs to be great. And Renegade Kid only makes great games. Multiple difficulty levels would do well to extend the games longevity
I'm a humongo fan of side-scrolling brawlers and there have been a scarce few released since the inception of the DS family. So this game xcites me fo sho, even though I've never been into Nuto. But the whole cross dressin thing seriously disturbs me. I hope that gets cut in the translation to US
According to all-knowing Metacritic, the 3DS currently has 21 games with 80% or better average critic score, while the Vita currently has 15. The 3DS has been on the market almost a full year more than the Vita. So technically, the Vita is winning in terms of quality games per month. Still, aside from a few games like Spy Hunter which appear on both systems, they both offer vastly different experiences. A truly wise man would own both
I wanted to talk about something VERY important. Which has a lot to do with online gaming. Read up and feel free to respond!
I am not yet 30, but I am old enough to be alive when the original NES was in its infant stages. As you all probably know, there was no online gaming for the NES. Every single game was a retail cartridge. Thousands of collectible NES games could be purchased and owned.
Due to the fact I grew up in this era, I am not just a gamer, I am a video game collector. I love having a physical copy of a game to plug in and keep on the shelf or in a shoe box.
Fast forward to today, and it sucks to be a video game collector. Especially for the 3DS. Let me count the way: 1. We are losing retail games to digital games (example: original Shantae was a physical GBC game, 3DS Shantae game will be download title), 2. Region Locking (example: check out videos for E.X. Troopers. It looks insanely awesome. But you can't play...it's region locked to Japan), 3. Retail games aren't being made due to competition from mobile games (Example: many games, like Assassin's Creed and Saint's Row, were cancelled from the 3DS launch lineup due to fear it wouldn't be able to compete with iOS and Android handheld devices, though those fears have somewhat subsided)
As you can see, that's a large chunk of potential great retail games I'll never see due to gaming trends in the 2010s. Just look at what Capcom is doing for Mega Man's monumental 25th anniversary. Instead of giving us an amazingly collectible retail game complete with a retrospective manual like the Mega Man Anniversary collection for GBA that never materialized was supposed to do, we get eShop versions of the original games. Which brings me to my final issue. To this day, I can still plug in physical cartridges to my old consoles 20 years after they were originally released. We have no proof that digital games, especially licensed games and 3rd party games, will still be available to play 20 years down the line, or even 5 years for that matter
If you like Mickey Mouse, side-scrolling platformers reminiscent of the old Sega Genesis, or the original Castle of Illusion, and you don't buy this game because of a bad critic review or two, you really need to rethink your priorities
If you haven't noticed, side-scrolling video games have sucked ever since the end of the GBA. There ain't a single quality side-scrolling action platformer or brawler in the entire DS/3DS lifespan. There have been attempts, a lot of them by WayForward, but those always had major flaws to keep them from being great, like too easy (Batman the Brave and the Bold) or too repetitive (Thor). Griptonite had a few games that approached greatness like Shinobi 3D or Spider-Man Web of Shadows. But not quite in the same ballpark as those myriad of old elite Genesis titles. Overall, 99% of side-scrollers in the DS family suck.
What's the cause? Society. Parents whine when a kid can't beat the 1st level, so games become easier, even though for 20+ years every game was tough as nails and kids still loved the heck out of em. And then there's the message board crowd like all you people. You see a nice side-scroller like Epic Mickey 2 and you say, I don't know if I'd pay $40 for this. So the devs have to add cheap gimmicks to make these people feel like it's worth their money.
So don't whine when games don't meet the old standard of Genesis titles. That's just another area where society has been downgraded. It'll never get back to the glory days, except for short experiences like Mutant Mudds via the eShop. If you want a LEGIT retro sidescroller fix, check out "At Games Ultimate Portable Game Player". The screen ain't too big (about the size of the GBA), but it's very well made according to all the reviews. The big selling point here is that it has FORTY Genesis games on it, and I'm talking heavy hitters like Super Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition, Mega Man: The Wily Wars, and the Streets of Rage trilogy. Imagine gettin that baby in your stocking!
I'm not much for Pikachu, but I hope everyone tunes in to Haunting Hour season 3 premiere Sat at 6pm EST on HUB. And if you want a great Halloween game, check out Goosebumps for DS
I'm interested in a game about running a bookstore, I must be losing my hardcore gamer tag. There's just something about a bookstore that takes me back to when I was a kid. I hope I have the option to stock Goosebumps
My bday is next Sunday, so hopefully I'll get the XL then. I don't know how ANYone could pass this up, with literally TWICE as big screens and DOUBLE or maybe even TRIPLE the battery life!
i'll give everyone a hint: this game AIN'T gonna get a good review score. BUT...you should still get it. Why? bc it's a small game in a limited genre. So the best score it can hope for is 7. That's if it's PERFECT. I'm predicitin a 5. But ignore that. If you like how it looks and you like to shoot stuff, get it. Me personally, shootin chickens on a tropical island surrounded by pirates sounds like a blast. The ONLY dealbreaker the review should offer you or me, is if they say the controls are broken. But even then, you should check multiple reviews, bc not everyone always "gets" it. I saw several reviews that said Kid Icarus Uprising's controls made it unplayable
A SIDE-SCROLLING BEAT 'EM UP? ON 3DS?? There have been a lot of great side-scrolling beat 'em ups in the DS family. Like...Tokyo Beat Down...well that was kinda average...Spider-Man Web of Shadows...but the sequels sucked...ya, there haven't been a heck of a lot of beat em ups in the DS family tree. Sign me up for pre-order with this quasi-Guardian Heroes sequel!
They "censored" the princess's outfit so she's wearing a bikini type outfit instead of a stripper outfit. Good job Atlus! I wouldn't have bought it up otherwise. This is a title that anyone should be able to pick up and place. If the slightly altered outfit causes someone not to buy this excellent and rare game then they truly are an idiot. Not like the princess wouldn't still be smokin hot in a turtleneck sweater anyway
eShop NEEDS GBA games and as many retro-styled side-scrollers as possible, like Mutant Mudds, Mighty Switch Force, and Johnny Kung Fu. A version of Nintendo Land needs to be made specifically for 3DS
I prefer the GG version of Columns to the Genesis version. It may not be as feature rich, but it was built for a handheld and just seems to fit perfectly.
Glad Sega is going all-out with these GG releases. But will we ever see the games that will get fanboys REALLY geeked up, like Streets of Rage, Ristar, and Gunstar Heroes??
Gorgeous graphics, Knuckles as playable character, great music...PocketGamer gave this a 7 (which is much closer to what this games should be) and said "Short but sweet, Sonic Blast will be warmly received by the series' hardcore fans and, given half a chance, platformer veterans will find a lot to like too." Side-scrolling Sonic goodness with Vectorman graphics, don't call yourself a Sonic, Sega, or side-scroller fanboy if you don't pick this up.
I agree that there should've been a separate Kickstarter for Star Trek, or just asked for $110,000 from the beginning. But this is Farsight's 1st foray into Kickstarter so they didn't know how to plan going in and I wonder if you can't close down a Kickstarter campaign until the time runs out...
You can find the Top 10 tables of all-time at the link below. At the moment, Farsight has the rights to 7 of them, and is currently working on getting 2 of the other 3.
I really wasn't interested in Medieval Madness, because even though Medieval Times type stuff is a cool theme, I really only get geeked up about licensed tables. But I tried it out and it is freakin fun to play. So much stuff to do: fight dragons and trolls, rescue princesses, joust, fire cannon balls, destroy castles. The voice work is hilarious and it goes ballistic when you get multi-ball, which is the thing I love most about pinball, aka the chaos of it all.
I forgot to mention possible Simpsons tables in the Pinball Arcade's future in my last post. D'oh!
I'm just putting this out there, but instead of waiting for the 3DS version to get your PB Arcade fix, you could always just play it on PS Vita. In the US, Target and Best Buy are currently doing a promotion where you get a $50 gift card if you buy any Vita. So you're essentially getting a memory card and a PSN card for free. Everything you need to get your pinball fix on the go.
You're not selling out Nintendo if you get a Vita. They're two COMPLETELY different experiences with COMPLETELY different games. You can't get an amazing game like Gravity Rush on 3DS, and you can't get an awesome game like Luigi's Mansion on Vita
Farsight is working to bring this game to 3DS. Give em a little time bc they got a little backed up due to complications from releasing the game digitally over every possible platform.
Pinball Arcade is different than Zen Pinball, though both are really fun pinball sims. I prefer PB Arcade because I find it more of a challenge playing more realistic tables with more realistic physics. You NEED to study those table rule sets because NOTHING is more satisfying than earning that Super Jackpot.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a license fiend myself. Zen has some GREAT licenses coming out, like Avengers. But Pinball Arcade not to be outdone. Aside from Twilight Zone and Star Trek, you can expect to see tables based on properties like Universal Studios Monsters, Tales From the Crypt, South Park, Addams Family, Elvira, and fingers crossed, Indiana Jones and Terminator 2, in the not too distant future...
This source has a rumor that Ristar, Vectorman, and Nights will all be in this game. And since rumors are generally true in this age of video game following, I think this deserves another YEEEEEEEEEEEEHA
Never can say for sure until things are officially announced. But I can say that Death Adder stage in the pic above is amazing. It's straight outta Disney World. Sonic Drift 2 was one of the 1st eShop Game Gear games announced. Hopefully it gets released in honor of Transformed
This game is muy excellente. You have to understand what it's going for. Ever been to an amusement park or something and they have a Wild West show? It's not meant to be ultra realistic. Just fun and exciting. This game pulls that off
WOW. This news forces me to bring out a word I haven't used in a looong time: Schwing!!!
They've announced less than half of the 27 characters. So still a chance for Nights, Blaze Fielding, ToeJam, and Vectorman. How awesome would it be if Vectorman didn't have a car, he just morphed into the different vehicles??

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo's 3DS Software Showcase Live

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo's 3DS Software Showcase Live

Re: E3 2012: Nintendo's 3DS Software Showcase Live
FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. METROID PRIME HUNTERS 2
Re: Reaction: Your Opinions on Nintendo's E3 Conference
No new 3DS info so obviously it sucked. Hopefully Ninty remedies that tonight
Re: E3 2012: Every 3DS Game Announced So Far
STILL no 1st person shooters...somethin fishy going on here. No Metroid for Wii U...Prime Hunters 2 for 3DS announced tomorrow???
Re: E3 2012: Castlevania: Mirror of Fate Gameplay Whips Into Action
@WaveBoy,
Contra 4 WAS already outsourced to West devs lol. It was a awesome game. Settle kid. This game looks crazy good
Re: E3 2012: Castlevania: Mirror of Fate Gameplay Whips Into Action
Code of Princess to get localized Atlus. YEEEEEEEEEEHA
Re: Mad Dog McCree Takes Aim at eShop on 14th June
@Rargon,
This joke was funnier the first 5 times on the board and without the expletive.
Fun game. $8 seems a wee bit pricey for a port. Guess FMV is one piece of tech that isn't cheap 20 tears later
Re: Shinobi Joins Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed
This source has a rumor that Ristar, Vectorman, and Nights will all be in this game. And since rumors are generally true in this age of video game following, I think this deserves another YEEEEEEEEEEEEHA

Never can say for sure until things are officially announced. But I can say that Death Adder stage in the pic above is amazing. It's straight outta Disney World. Sonic Drift 2 was one of the 1st eShop Game Gear games announced. Hopefully it gets released in honor of Transformed
Re: Mad Dog McCree Takes Aim at eShop on 14th June
This game is muy excellente. You have to understand what it's going for. Ever been to an amusement park or something and they have a Wild West show? It's not meant to be ultra realistic. Just fun and exciting. This game pulls that off
Re: Shinobi Joins Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed
