EVERY early adopter knew that a hardware revision would come, unless you're completely oblivious to history (gb-gba-gba SP, ds-ds lite, dsi, dsi XL). Every Nintendo hardware revision has guaranteed bigger or better screens, sleeker designs, and better battery life. Tell me again why you don't want that? Oh...that's right, you have no logical or intelligent reason besides your feelings are hurt. PLEASE grow up a little.
NO idea why Nintendo fanboys are up in arms about this. Let's see...it doesn't remove ANYTHING from the 3DS while adding an XTREMELY crucial element, aka an extra input method. Specifically, a 2nd stick, which is something that EVERY 3rd party publisher has grown comfortable with over the last 10 years. In the long run, this new peripheral will mean more quality 3rd party software on 3DS. And a system's legacy is built on its software, NOT its hardware...or add-ons. And I hope they get out a new model w/ this built in b/c that would be a lot sexier than the current system that scratches itself and has a bulky thing attached to its butt.
The game I want above all is the original Game Boy version of Tetris. And I have this sinking feeling it's NEVER going to come to the 3DS eShop because the Tetris Company owns the rights now and they only release Tetris games where you can use Inifinite Spin. Tetris is routinely voted by major publications as one of the Top 5 Games of All Time. And the iteration of Tetris that most people relate to is the Game Boy version, because it was PACKED- IN with the original Game Boy. How could Nintendo or the Tetris Company rob every single Game Boy owner of all that nostalgia?
ATTN: NINTENDO: HERE IS WHAT WE WANT: AS MANY GAMES AS POSSIBLE. I don't care if they have frills or not. I don't care if they cost a dollar more or less (though I do prefer a dollar less). They could release 10 NES games a week and not get through the whole library for a couple years. And give us those licensed games that are most fondly remembered like Duck Tales and Batman. Those you can charge a dollar more for.
I've always thought guys WANTED extra girth. Look, if the added thickness of the add-on making the 3DS too big to fit in your pocket bothers you, I thought long and hard for a few solutions. Actually, I didn't have to think at all. See, there's this thing called your hand that you could hold it in. But if you're embarassed about being a grown man carrying around a modernized Game Boy, here's a couple more solutions: backpack, briefcase, tote bag, man purse, or fanny pack.
I have NEVER seen a bunch of people more ignorant than the supposed Nintendo fanboys posting on these boards. Kind of like home schoolers that have never been out in the real world. Welcome to 2011. There are these things called dual sticks. Kind of important for games which require total movement of the character and camera. Try to pretend that the stylus controls for Metroid Prime Hunters and Wiimote controls for Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition were anything more than a gimmick that proved useful when there was no other option. But the rest of the world has already seen the light of dual sticks and aren't going to be tricked by gimmicks. None of you naysayers are Nintendo Loyalists. You're loyalists to yourself. Waaaah! I paid $250 for 3DS at launch. Well, you got a glasses free 3D handheld system before anyone else. Nintendo had NO obligation to give you 20 free games after the price drop, which value out at over $100 in virtual console money. But they did. Life moves fast in 2011. There are upgrades and add-ons. And they come a lot quicker if systems don't sell well. Get used to it.
By the way, Nintendo have already announced or release 17 first party games in the 1st 6 months of the 3DS's life. SEVENTEEN. Nintendo published games have almost zero appeal to the average hardcore gamer that Nintendo is trying to attract. But they do it for the fanboys. And you're complaining that they don't care about you. Why don't you all form a band called "Ungrateful Dead" and use the world's tiniest violins as your instruments.
We're getting closer to THE DREAM. "The dream" has always ben to have a full console experience on a handheld. If you're just interested in simple little games why are you on the 3DS discussion board? Go get an original Game Boy or a worthless Iphone.
There are a couple parts to "the dream". For one, graphics. The old handheld systems could never match up w/ the big boys. But the 3DS and Vita both have enough tech to at least compete with PS3 and X 360 in the looks department.
The other area is control. The more methods of input you have, the more total control you have of the in-game character and camera. So while the big boy controllers have d-pads, 2 sticks, face buttons, R1-R3 and L1-L3, 3DS was lacking in the input methods to make a full, deep game in a 3D open world, like Monster Hunter, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Etc. ( I know the stylus touch screen can mimic a 2nd stick, but unless you're a cyborg, your hand shakes when you write. NOT efficient input method )
Enter this new attachment. Not only does it give a 2nd stick, but maybe R2 and L2 too. NOW, the 3DS has as many input methods as the big boys, PLUS it has the advantages of portability, 3D, touch and gyro controls.
Death to consoles and Iphones. Viva la 3DS and Vita.
The Wii version of this looked EPIC. The underwater scenes are epic. Never been too into Monster Hunter or RPGs but this one just looks too good to pass on. Famitsu gave the Wii version a perfect score so I do believe I'll be trying out my new analog stick when this game launches. To quote Jaws, "We're gonna need a bigger 3DS..."
Well, I feel akward being the only person who correctly predicted this on the other threads. That's the life of a Shinobi. QUIT whining about hardware upgrades. Upgrades are good. Original DS SUCKED compared to DSi. Are you telling me you wished they never upgraded?? Ya, it's a lot quicker than normal, but it's waaaaaaay better in the long run. You KNEW Nintendo would upgrade eventually, you just couldn't hold out. You've gotten a few good months ahead of everyone else w/ your glasses-free 3D handheld.
Good news is it looks pretty cool. I thought it was going to be some cheap lil piece of plastic that just latched on top of the system. For those whining about ambassadors getting this free, you're already getting over $100 in free virtual console games so pipe down.
All 3DS games will eventually be made for dual stick control once they get a 3DS model w/ the dual stick built on. Now, all Nintendo has to do is announce ONE first person shooter for the 3DS and it'll be a legit system.
For those of us who ACTUALLY FOLLOW video game history, the PSP failed because there was a lack of games and it was priced $100 more than the DS. The PS Vita has already corrected both of those problems by securing over 80 developers currently working on games and pricing the base model of the Vita the same as the 3DS...well, before the emergency 3DS price drop it was. Sony should adjust the Vita price accordingly, but who knows if they will.
As it stands now, the Vita software is far more appealing to anyone not labeled a Nintendo fanboy and the hardware is better because it doesn't scratch itself, has a screen that seems 3 times bigger, and is almost guaranteed to have a much better battery life. Nintendo could secure its dominance by announcing a new 3DS hardware model and a few more killer apps.
@Thumper, Sony is messed up b/c they are making full console quality games for a handheld?? So you're saying that a game company shouldn't make the BEST possible games? I bet you also think 3DS and PSP should do away with buttons b/c touch controls are less responsive and harder to use. And will FOREVER be. If you want those little games that last 5 seconds where you fling birds around you can get PSP Minis or DSiWare.
I never thought much of the TGS. But with a slew of secret announcements coming from the Big N and 18 PS Vita games getting announced, this should beat E3 in terms of excitement.
And for those who don't think it will be a new hardware announcement, remember where the rumor got started: a French gaming site that also correctly predicted the Vita and Wii U. In fact, they're the ONLY credible gaming site when it comes to predictions. please don't attack other users, no matter how hard you disagree with them — TBD
@#72, Nintendo NEVER comments on rumors. You could have sent them an e-mail the day before E3 and they would've denied the existence of Wii U. It would be a big suprise if there is no hardware redesign. Nintendo HAS to send out a redesign. WHY you ask? BECAUSE THE SYSTEM SCRATCHES ITSELF WHEN YOU CLOSE IT!!! Is that a joke? Nintendo obviously rushed out a prototype model. We will see a redesign. Bigger screens. Longer battery life. Dual Sticks? We shall see...
All I know for sure is that this is Gamer Heaven. The best part of the year for gamers is E3. Specifically, the suprise announcements. In a given year, you're lucky to get 3 or 4 new announcements. This year for 3DS at E3 we got Luigi's Mansion 2 and Super Smash Bros. 3DS, maybe a couple other things. But this event on Sept. 13 is like a second E3!! And since it's completely dedicated to NEW announcements, we should get more suprises than at E3!! Cha-ching!!
HAS to be new hardware announcement. There is not a SINGLE piece of new software that would garner this much attention and cause a stock increase. It would have to be MULTIPLE huge IPs to create that kind of buzz. There is a VERY limited number of software titles that could create this buzz: Pokemon, Metroid, and Halo. It would have to be at least two of those, as there is not a single software title that appeals to the whole market.
I'll only be excited when I hear NES and GBA games that are available to the general public, not just the ambassadors. Not that these are the most exciting NES games ever invented. But some classics that tweak nostalgia nerves.
Now...does anyone recall the silver tuna of all retro games: Astro Boy: the Omega Factor
While it is really cool to see tetriminos in 3D (and the menu for Tetris Axis is in ridiculously cool 3D I could spend a couple hours just flippin through the options) the version of Tetris that 99% of people want to see is the original. Theres really no way to replace the nostalgia of that simple Russian styled Game Boy game, that EVERY single person with a system had.
I'm an American. Never put much thought into how actual Londoners would take a Japanese interpretation of em. They never got Americans right, but I don't sweat it. You know the intro to Contra 3: "Let's attack aggresively." That's not how a couple bad@$$ American commandos would talk. More like "Let's kick the $#!& outta those alien &*)@&# ?^#%!@$"
While Nintendo's current reaction to the 3DS's slow start has proven that they aren't the mythically perfect company we've viewed them as since the days of the original NES, I wouldn't recommend losing trust in them. They are clearly fighting desperately to make the 3DS the best portable system out. They def. made a mistake by releasing the 3DS before the hardware and software was ready. But let them get a few more months and major announcements under the 3DS's belt before we start to cry foul.
For anyone on the fence about this, you have to understand something. When the world was still living in 8-bits, there was no one better than Capcom. You look at the games they put out for the original NES and they weren't just good, they were dam near perfect. I'm not talking some. I'm talking EVERY one. Chip n Dale, Mega Man, Darkwing Duck, Bionic Commando, DuckTales. They were ALL epic. Gargoyle's Quest is an 8-bit Capcom game. You're guaranteed great visuals, music, controls, level design, and anything else you can pack inside 8 bits. BUY. NOW.
Maybe I can illustrate this to you guys a little clearer. Smartphone games are deceiving people into thinking they're next gen quality games b/c they have next gen caliber graphics. But due to the extreme control limitations of smartphones w/out buttons and sticks, all the games have the depth of a flash game. I'll be a little more generous. The depth of an original NES game.
Example, I played Hero of Sparta on an Ipod Touch. I really liked it. The graphics and sound helped. But at the end of the day, it was a shallow experience. With smartphone games you're getting games of the same quality as DSiWare or PSP Minis. Those are cute. And fun for a distraction. But NOTHING to get excited about. With the full retail releases that 3DS and Vita offer you can look to the future with anticipation b/c you know it'll be a deep, fulfilling experience. And hopefully...a life changer.
Why in the #$@% is this not coming to 3DS too? Wii is dying and 3DS is rising. Anything Wii can do, 3DS can do better. I sincerely hope Telltale starts bringing these to 3DS and Vita.
@179. I cant dig that deep. I want GAMES! Full games. Not just lil puzzles or tech demos. Smartphones don't have games like Mario. They don't have games like Metal Gear Solid. They don't have games like Metroid. They don't have games like Uncharted. And even if they tried, the only way they could do it are with tilt and touch controls or virtual buttons, which are about as enjoyable as being in a prison camp. Why don't you dig through these comments to find my other posts on the subject.
@183, you know nothing about life my friend. Playing any game on a smartphone is like beating your head against a rock. Repeatedly. We are gamers. We love fully fleshed out, console quality games. Thats why we love Nintendo. Not stupid lil touch and touch-fest iphone games.
If Nintendo became a 3rd party...it would mean the end of Nintendo consoles. The ONLY draw a Nintendo console has over its brothers from other companies is the 1st party titles. If we saw Mario and Metroid and Link on other consoles, pads, or phones, Nintendo would lose its mystique. It would give the other consoles strength and take it away from Nintendo. Nintendo consoles wouldn't survive.
Now, that wouldn't mean the end of great Nintendo games. Sega was forced to abandon the console games. But they are still able to make many games around their own IPs exactly as they see fit. Nintendo could still churn out epic Zelda games as a 3rd party.
I hate to bash Big N. When it comes to classic gaming, they got it covered. Mario, Sonic, Shinobi, GB, GBC, GBA. They've got their feet in the hardcore door they just need to dive in.
@150...As it stands now, Sony IS beating 3DS. There are only 6 3DS games over a 71% rating on Metacritic. 3DS is churning out cruddy games and the good ones are all ports right now. Very few original games on the horizon. Vita has a MUCH better line up. There are over 80 developers making games for Vita, they just haven't announced all the games yet. When the list does come out you'll see the MAJOR 3rd party titles that 3DS doesnt have (Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed) and some 3rd party titles that were thought to be 3DS exclusive (Resident Evil Revelations).
One of the things the 3DS touted was that it appeals to hardcore gamers. What is the #1 genre that appeals to hardcore gamers? 1st person shooters. ZERO have been announced for 3DS. Already several high quality ones in the works for Vita.
This announcement better be BIG or else Nintendo needs to pack up shop and become a 3rd party developer.
Iphones and Androids try to seduce people into thinking they have quality games because they have quality graphics. And since we as humans only use a small portion of our brains, many of us fall for that trick. Thousands, nay, millions have fallen. The problem w/ the games on Iphone and Android is that they are too simple, short, and don't have sophisticated controls. Which means every single game is a casual game. A system that only has casual games should appeal to 2 audiences: girls w/out gaming experience and young children. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a simple game every now and then but I live for the deeper full game xperiences.
I saw a preview for an Android game called Shadowgun. It is a beautiful game, a clone of Gears of War. I was impressed, BUT, knowing the deficiencies of Iphone and Android games, I was skeptical. So I checked out vid of someone playing it. And, just as I suspected, it had lousy controls. You see, you control the camera by moving your finger around the touch screen. Oh boy. Many problems. Dead spots on the touch screen, Touch screens never register 100% of touches, and you have shaky fingers, which means 99 times out of 100 the camera won't move exactly where you want it, AND since its not controlled by a circle or d-pad, the camera moves blocky and shaky instead of smooth movements. The character is moved by a virtual control stick. Oh, boy again. BIG PROBLEM: ever tried to use virtual buttons? You have to constantly be looking where the buttons are or your fingers will miss, rendering the games virtually unplayable. That doesnt happen w/ d-pads and sticks b/c you can feel them.
Are Iphones and Androids going to kill quality gaming machines like 3DS and Playstation Vita? We can only pray that doesn't happen.
Oh, how I loathe Iphones and Androids. It isn't blind hatred mind you. I once had an Ipod Touch. And I even found a game I really enjoyed: Hero of Sparta. But I soon came to realize that there was a common theme to all the games: they were short, they were simple, and they had bad controls.
Iphones and Androids don't have buttons, d-pads, or control sticks, which are CRUCIAL for gaming. There are several ways they try to make up for this deficiency. One, they make games that are completely controlled by touch. The problem with this are many, including: touch is not as accurate or consistent as a button press and never will be and there are only so many ways you can touch a screen meaning you have limited control of the game. Another way they counter this is by using gyro controls, aka moving the system around. Ever tried that? It would be easier to steer a car after drinking 50 vodka shots. Lastly, they try to use virtual buttons, aka pretend buttons on the touch screen. But like I said earlier, touch controls aren't as accurate as buttons so it won't register what you press 50% of the time.
This is a WEIRD time in gaming history. It may never happen again. We don't know what's gonna happen in a year. Or two. Will the hideously stupid Ipods and their 5 cent worthless games make handhelds by Sony and Nintendo obsolete? Fate is truly cruel if that happens.
I know in the long run, it's very bad if the 3DS doesn't sell well. But in the short term, it ROCKS for us gamers. Nintendo freaks out and so a couple months after release we get a price drop AND a major announcement about Game Boy Advance games coming the future, and THEN, just a couple weeks after that, we get ANOTHER major announcement. Yeeha!
How frustrating is it as a Nintendo fan, when you wait all week, xcited about what games are coming through the download service and we get...Urban Champion, unanimously considered the worst Nintendo game ever. When it comes to online, Nintendo has made slight improvements with 3DS, but they're still in the dark ages compared to the rest of the gaming world in 2011. How can we be this far into the 3DS store and they've only released 1 3DSware game?? Nintendo needs to LIGHTEN UP. Release more games per week and give us release dates so we have some kind of idea what to get xcited about and when.
I won't bash Apple itself. But for gaming? C'mon. I had an Ipod Touch. It was interesting for about 2 days. EVERY single game is a shallow touch, tap, or slide fest. I was kinda xcited when they announced Metal Gear Solid was coming to the Ipod Touch. Guess what? It was a shallow tap fest. Life is too short my friends. Sell your Ipads. Invest in a REAL gaming machine like the 3DS or PS Vita
Do you REALLY think localizing Last Story would cause an 8.4 rise in stock value? This has to be something BIG...as in NEW. Like Halo on 3DS. Or a new version of the system. The list of things that would UNIVERSALLY be considered BIG behind those announcements is pretty small.
I see 1 major problems with these rumors: Nintendo taking focus away from the 3D effect. That is really the only thing that separated the 3DS from the Vita. If they take away the 3D and add another stick, it's just a less powerful vita w/out the killer apps like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed. The 3D effect would be a big draw if they made BIGGER SCREENS so it was actually noticeable. Or, at the very least, developers make games designed around 3D (like the Metal Gear 3DS demo) as opposed to making games that just add on 3D (like the actual Metal Gear 3DS). You really need to go back and look at how awesome that Metal Gear E3 demo was.
Please dont mention Iphones, Ipads, and Ipods when we're talking about gaming. You need buttons and sticks to play a REAL game. Ipad games are slide and tap fests. Yay, that...sounds...fun...kind of. Actually it sounds like an incredible waste of time. Resident Evil Revelations will be a life changer. Angry Birds 3 will be a life waster.
by EXTREMELY BIG GAME do they mean another N64 port? B/c the thought almost makes me pass out from boredom. You know Nintendo, there are these things called 1st person shooters and people really like em. You wanna go EXTREMELY BIG, go Metroid Prime Hunters 3DS or Halo 3DS
This is 2011. Dual analog sticks are a MUST. Reason 1, I'm left handed, and to account for me, developers have to spend a LOT of time programming left handed controls on the 3DS. Reason 2, face buttons are not as accurate controlling the camera as an analog.
Also, the 3DS is hideously designed. The top screen is too small. It gets scratched when you close it. And the battery life is a joke. Big N should be able to clean these up w/ a new system.
The PS Vita vs. 3DS argument is nothing like the PSP vs. DS argument. For one, Sony learned from mistakes and already has over 80 publishers working on games for the Vita. I would actually say the Vita has a better lineup of games because it covers every genre, while 3DS doesnt have a SINGLE 1st-person shooter on tap. I'm not a 1st-person shooter junkie, but Game Informer did a poll about which genre was peoples favorite and 1st-persons were atop the list. I happen to agree w/ that. For 2, even if a lot of those 80 developers back out, you still have the whole library of PSP games and PS minis to download from. 3DS lost a huge franchise when Assassin's Creed backed out and went over to Vita.
From a tech standpoint, they're pretty close. 3DS has 3D, which is obviously really cool. REALLY cool. Vita has dual sticks, which make for a lot better control options for developers. Vita has more power and memory. Which means you'll get bigger, longer, and faster games. But...Metal Gear 3D and Resident Evil Revelations will show the 3DS CAN provide a next-gen console gaming experience. There just aren't many companies as good as Konami and Capcom to make those.
The biggest deciding factor should be the likely exclusive titles for each system. Vita has Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, Wipeout, Little Big Planet, and Bioshock. 3DS has Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Star Fox, and Conduit.
BEST IDEA: Instead of buying one of the systems and buying a buttload of games for it, most of which are average, buy BOTH systems. Only buy the best of the best games for each system. It'll cost about the same in the long run and you'll be livin' in a gamer's paradise.
After seeing the games for Playstation Vita at Gamescom this week, I can safely make this conclusion: Vita games are far superior than 3DS games...but there are more 3DS games. Which balances it out. If I had to choose only one, I'd take the Vita, b/c it can do more in terms of making a full console-quality game. Much more. Especially 1st person shooters, which not a ONE has been announced for 3DS. But, being a Shinobi and all, i must say Shinobi 3DS is a killer app.
YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!! Downloadable content is the DREAM of a game fan. If there's a game you fall in luv w/ (b/c your luck w/ chicks ain't so hot), it's like Christmas mornin when they offer new levels to download. You're basically gettin a cheap sequel. Nintendo has been way to strict w/ their online stuff, so I'm glad to see they're loosenin up. But I also like how they're regulatin it to keep the downloadable trash off there. But...there will eventually be that thing called 3DSWare, right?
Most games, I look for action and replay value. This one gets special treatment. B/c of the idea how something in 3D popping could scare me so much. I am SUPER hyped about this. There's no point in playing it unless you're in a dark room w/ headphones to max out its ability to draw you in. I waited until night to watch a trailer for this, I wasn't gonna watch much b/c I don't want to spoil the scares. Within 20 seconds I jumped out of my chair. I'm a grown man jumping out of my chair. This game should come w/ a warning about heart attacks
There is seriously nothing not to like about Shantae. She's cute an sexy, she's got attitude, and she turns into a monkey. I wasn't a huge fan of the DSiWare one, too much xploration, not my cup of tea. The GBC one is more straightforward, a lot like Aladdin for Genesis. Excellent...
Are they really putting out another version Tetris??!? I mean all the DS had was Tetris DS, Tetris Party Deluxe, Tetris Live. Only things I'm interested in are 1. Game Boy Tetris and 2. Some kind of Tetris spin-off in 3D
Don't they understand that the Game Boy version is what people are dying to play. Ideally, they'd release it on the virtual console. Or they could make a retail Tetris game with the Game Boy version as an unlockable.

Re: Expect New Product Announcements at 3DS Conference
Re: Expect New Product Announcements at 3DS Conference
Re: Expect New Product Announcements at 3DS Conference
@#72, Nintendo NEVER comments on rumors. You could have sent them an e-mail the day before E3 and they would've denied the existence of Wii U. It would be a big suprise if there is no hardware redesign. Nintendo HAS to send out a redesign. WHY you ask? BECAUSE THE SYSTEM SCRATCHES ITSELF WHEN YOU CLOSE IT!!! Is that a joke? Nintendo obviously rushed out a prototype model. We will see a redesign. Bigger screens. Longer battery life. Dual Sticks? We shall see...
Re: Expect New Product Announcements at 3DS Conference
All I know for sure is that this is Gamer Heaven. The best part of the year for gamers is E3. Specifically, the suprise announcements. In a given year, you're lucky to get 3 or 4 new announcements. This year for 3DS at E3 we got Luigi's Mansion 2 and Super Smash Bros. 3DS, maybe a couple other things. But this event on Sept. 13 is like a second E3!! And since it's completely dedicated to NEW announcements, we should get more suprises than at E3!! Cha-ching!!
Re: Expect New Product Announcements at 3DS Conference
HAS to be new hardware announcement. There is not a SINGLE piece of new software that would garner this much attention and cause a stock increase. It would have to be MULTIPLE huge IPs to create that kind of buzz. There is a VERY limited number of software titles that could create this buzz: Pokemon, Metroid, and Halo. It would have to be at least two of those, as there is not a single software title that appeals to the whole market.
Re: North American NES Ambassador Games Announced
I'll only be excited when I hear NES and GBA games that are available to the general public, not just the ambassadors. Not that these are the most exciting NES games ever invented. But some classics that tweak nostalgia nerves.
Now...does anyone recall the silver tuna of all retro games: Astro Boy: the Omega Factor
Re: Professor Layton's Last Specter Out in October
Not a fan of RPG's really. Unless they have the good professor. London Life is the worth the price of admission alone.
Re: Tetris: Axis Swings By 3DS on 2nd October
While it is really cool to see tetriminos in 3D (and the menu for Tetris Axis is in ridiculously cool 3D I could spend a couple hours just flippin through the options) the version of Tetris that 99% of people want to see is the original. Theres really no way to replace the nostalgia of that simple Russian styled Game Boy game, that EVERY single person with a system had.
Re: Professor Layton and the Last Specter Out This Fall on DS
I'm an American. Never put much thought into how actual Londoners would take a Japanese interpretation of em. They never got Americans right, but I don't sweat it. You know the intro to Contra 3: "Let's attack aggresively." That's not how a couple bad@$$ American commandos would talk. More like "Let's kick the $#!& outta those alien &*)@&# ?^#%!@$"
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Preparing Dual Analogue 3DS Revamp
While Nintendo's current reaction to the 3DS's slow start has proven that they aren't the mythically perfect company we've viewed them as since the days of the original NES, I wouldn't recommend losing trust in them. They are clearly fighting desperately to make the 3DS the best portable system out. They def. made a mistake by releasing the 3DS before the hardware and software was ready. But let them get a few more months and major announcements under the 3DS's belt before we start to cry foul.
Re: Review: Gargoyle's Quest (3DS Virtual Console / Game Boy)
For anyone on the fence about this, you have to understand something. When the world was still living in 8-bits, there was no one better than Capcom. You look at the games they put out for the original NES and they weren't just good, they were dam near perfect. I'm not talking some. I'm talking EVERY one. Chip n Dale, Mega Man, Darkwing Duck, Bionic Commando, DuckTales. They were ALL epic. Gargoyle's Quest is an 8-bit Capcom game. You're guaranteed great visuals, music, controls, level design, and anything else you can pack inside 8 bits. BUY. NOW.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Re: Telltale Bringing Back to the Future Wii to Retail
Why in the #$@% is this not coming to 3DS too? Wii is dying and 3DS is rising. Anything Wii can do, 3DS can do better. I sincerely hope Telltale starts bringing these to 3DS and Vita.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Re: Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third Party?
@183, you know nothing about life my friend. Playing any game on a smartphone is like beating your head against a rock. Repeatedly. We are gamers. We love fully fleshed out, console quality games. Thats why we love Nintendo. Not stupid lil touch and touch-fest iphone games.
Re: Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third Party?
Re: Gargoyle's Quest
When it comes to the realm of bits by the number 8, Capcom was the best there ever was. Rivaled only by the Big N
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Preparing Dual Analogue 3DS Revamp
I found #154 to be pretty insightful, though somewhat indechipherable due to the authors unfamiliarity with English.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Preparing Dual Analogue 3DS Revamp
I hate to bash Big N. When it comes to classic gaming, they got it covered. Mario, Sonic, Shinobi, GB, GBC, GBA. They've got their feet in the hardcore door they just need to dive in.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Preparing Dual Analogue 3DS Revamp
could september 13th seem any farther away?
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Re: Review: Dreamwalker (DSiWare)
who is the savage that doesn't like the art style? its beautiful, weird. Sega Genesis-y
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Yeeha!
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
How frustrating is it as a Nintendo fan, when you wait all week, xcited about what games are coming through the download service and we get...Urban Champion, unanimously considered the worst Nintendo game ever. When it comes to online, Nintendo has made slight improvements with 3DS, but they're still in the dark ages compared to the rest of the gaming world in 2011. How can we be this far into the 3DS store and they've only released 1 3DSware game?? Nintendo needs to LIGHTEN UP. Release more games per week and give us release dates so we have some kind of idea what to get xcited about and when.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
I won't bash Apple itself. But for gaming? C'mon. I had an Ipod Touch. It was interesting for about 2 days. EVERY single game is a shallow touch, tap, or slide fest. I was kinda xcited when they announced Metal Gear Solid was coming to the Ipod Touch. Guess what? It was a shallow tap fest. Life is too short my friends. Sell your Ipads. Invest in a REAL gaming machine like the 3DS or PS Vita
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Do you REALLY think localizing Last Story would cause an 8.4 rise in stock value? This has to be something BIG...as in NEW. Like Halo on 3DS. Or a new version of the system. The list of things that would UNIVERSALLY be considered BIG behind those announcements is pretty small.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
Please dont mention Iphones, Ipads, and Ipods when we're talking about gaming. You need buttons and sticks to play a REAL game. Ipad games are slide and tap fests. Yay, that...sounds...fun...kind of. Actually it sounds like an incredible waste of time. Resident Evil Revelations will be a life changer. Angry Birds 3 will be a life waster.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month
by EXTREMELY BIG GAME do they mean another N64 port? B/c the thought almost makes me pass out from boredom. You know Nintendo, there are these things called 1st person shooters and people really like em. You wanna go EXTREMELY BIG, go Metroid Prime Hunters 3DS or Halo 3DS
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Preparing Dual Analogue 3DS Revamp
This is 2011. Dual analog sticks are a MUST. Reason 1, I'm left handed, and to account for me, developers have to spend a LOT of time programming left handed controls on the 3DS. Reason 2, face buttons are not as accurate controlling the camera as an analog.
Also, the 3DS is hideously designed. The top screen is too small. It gets scratched when you close it. And the battery life is a joke. Big N should be able to clean these up w/ a new system.
Re: Roll With this New Trailer for Star Fox 64 3D
Re: Roll With this New Trailer for Star Fox 64 3D
After seeing the games for Playstation Vita at Gamescom this week, I can safely make this conclusion: Vita games are far superior than 3DS games...but there are more 3DS games. Which balances it out. If I had to choose only one, I'd take the Vita, b/c it can do more in terms of making a full console-quality game. Much more. Especially 1st person shooters, which not a ONE has been announced for 3DS. But, being a Shinobi and all, i must say Shinobi 3DS is a killer app.
Re: Talking Point: The NES Games You Want on 3DS Virtual Console
CONTRA ! CONTRA !! CONTRA !!!
Did your head xplode yet? I only list the heavy hitters, so get ready:
Super C
Castlevania
Mega Man 2
Ninja Gaiden
Punch-Out
Re: Iwata: We Will Do Paid Download Content for Wii U and 3DS
YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!! Downloadable content is the DREAM of a game fan. If there's a game you fall in luv w/ (b/c your luck w/ chicks ain't so hot), it's like Christmas mornin when they offer new levels to download. You're basically gettin a cheap sequel. Nintendo has been way to strict w/ their online stuff, so I'm glad to see they're loosenin up. But I also like how they're regulatin it to keep the downloadable trash off there. But...there will eventually be that thing called 3DSWare, right?
Re: First Impressions: Resident Evil Revelations
Most games, I look for action and replay value. This one gets special treatment. B/c of the idea how something in 3D popping could scare me so much. I am SUPER hyped about this. There's no point in playing it unless you're in a dark room w/ headphones to max out its ability to draw you in. I waited until night to watch a trailer for this, I wasn't gonna watch much b/c I don't want to spoil the scares. Within 20 seconds I jumped out of my chair. I'm a grown man jumping out of my chair. This game should come w/ a warning about heart attacks
Re: WayForward Pursuing Shantae for 3DS Virtual Console
There is seriously nothing not to like about Shantae. She's cute an sexy, she's got attitude, and she turns into a monkey. I wasn't a huge fan of the DSiWare one, too much xploration, not my cup of tea. The GBC one is more straightforward, a lot like Aladdin for Genesis. Excellent...
Re: The Rolling Western Keeps Those Wagons Rolling
This game looks an awful lot like what Sonic SHOULD look like in 3D. does seem pretty cool
Re: Tetris Slots into Place this October on 3DS
Are they really putting out another version Tetris??!? I mean all the DS had was Tetris DS, Tetris Party Deluxe, Tetris Live. Only things I'm interested in are 1. Game Boy Tetris and 2. Some kind of Tetris spin-off in 3D
Re: Tetris Gets an ESRB Rating for the 3DS
Don't they understand that the Game Boy version is what people are dying to play. Ideally, they'd release it on the virtual console. Or they could make a retail Tetris game with the Game Boy version as an unlockable.
Re: North America, These eShop Games Await You Next Week
But..if you're desperate to grab something, Radar Mission looks pretty cool
