Re: Review: Angry Birds Trilogy (Wii U)

rastamadeus

@Great_Gonzalez I saw the PS3 version in Asda over the weekend for a tenner if that's any good to you? Sure in a few months the price will have dropped on the Wii U version.

@Phantom_R But that isn't the point of this review. It's to review the game itself. Besides, my sister has had the original in her phone and played well over 60 hours (at least) on it. I've bought £45 games and been done with them in hours (hello Luigi's Mansion) so for some people they will get their money's worth. Even if they are stupid for not getting the free version (if they can).

Re: Review: Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

rastamadeus

@Damo True, I was meaning just the blind bashing head against the wall argument style he was initially using, not able to accept people have different opinions. I'll argue til the cows come home that Other M is one of the best Metroid games - only behind Prime 1 - but I know others disagree. Debating is good, blindly defending and not listening to what others say isn't.

Re: Review: Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

rastamadeus

@Damo I have a friend who supports Man U and when we (Liverpool) slaughtered them 4-1 in their own backyard he refused to admit it was because we were good. He insisted it was because they were dreadful from start to finish - despite going in the lead initially. Everyone in the world were saying, "Blimey, Liverpool played exceptional, didn't they?" but he still refuses to admit it. It just didn't happen. Kirk reminds me of him. Fond look back at when we were good now over...

Re: Review: Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

rastamadeus

@Kirk You're right, certain things do go beyond opinion. Like its not an opinion we should be going into Syria to stop their maniac leader gassing innocent women and children, its a necessity. However, a videogame getting a certain mark isn't something that goes beyond an opinion as the whole review is the reviewer DESCRIBING his opinion. You need to take off your rose tinted specs pronto. You think they all deserve 9 or 10? Good for you. Even back in the '90s I thought they deserved no more than a 7 or 8 and I'd personally give them less now. I suppose I'm wrong though, eh? As Lord Kirk has spoken. No wonder you got " unfairly" banned when you can't even accept people's opinions.

Re: Talking Point: Pikmin 3 Shows the First Shoots of the Wii U's Planned Recovery

rastamadeus

I was discussing (on Pushsquare) last night how Sony could save Vita, saying that they can't, the system is dead and we should just enjoy it while it lasts rather than worrying. I made the point that Wii U is different having not even been out for a year. A few people didn't like that or how I pointed out the Wii U has games on the way that will sell systems while Vita has games on the way that are cult games which will sell to fans but not sell systems. With the news Pikmin 3 is selling I feel what I said is more true than I'd thought. However if by spring next year things haven't turned around the console is well and truly buggered.

Re: Aonuma Is Growing "Tired" Of The Zelda Formula And Wants To Ring The Changes

rastamadeus

Where is that art from? Not seen it before and looks great so wanna see the rest of the drawing.

As for the series, I understand it needs to stay Zelda (and there's nothing wrong with Zelda in the slightest) but a kick up the backside could reinvigorate all future titles. Personally I still wanna see a futuristic title, maybe the final legend in the timeline. Futuristic technology has been in Zelda for quite a few games now so don't think it'd be a massive change. Don't think it'll happen though.

Re: Review: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (3DS eShop / Game Gear)

rastamadeus

@iPruch Fine, lets put it another way: in what ways are they better to you? Is it the lack of challenge? Poor level design? Use of gimmicks to keep interest? Ridiculous death pits appearing out of nowhere? Boring boss stages (in the first one)?
Please stop with the insults toward other users — TBD

Re: Review: Bakuretsu Muteki Bangaioh (Nintendo 64)

rastamadeus

Sadly the only rerelease has been on Xbox Live. God knows why only there (which also has HD versions of Guardian Heroes, Ikaruga and - most unfair - Radiant Silvergun). The Dreamcast version of Bangai-O is my third favourite game of all time (behind Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy 2) and is one of the most underrated games ever made. I wish Treasure would put it in the Virtual Channel, PSN and Steam so everybody could play this masterpiece.

Re: Kensuke Tanabe: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is "Kind of a Road Movie"

rastamadeus

@rjejr I wasn't accusing you of being a fanboy (pathetic word for pathetic people in my opinion, just like games, who gives a damn about what it's on or who it's made by) or trolling. Just saying you do seem to like causing a bit of a ruckus. I have played a lot of FPS' as I wouldn't talk about something if I didn't know about it. My friends all love those games so I play them when with them. I also have MW2 and 3 as I have a soft spot for Special Ops mode and enjoy Survival with my cousin. The games though are so identical that if you hadn't played them you wouldn't know which is 2 or 3. Like Battlefield. And Medal Of Honor. And Halo. And etc, etc, etc. When a "massive" change to the next COD is you can play as a dog you know a genre is in trouble.
Sports games you can let off as it makes a HUGE difference if you're playing as you favourite sports team using last seasons players or kit. It may sound stupid to people who don't play them but it really does make it better. I don't want Pepe Reina to throw it out to Steven Gerrard who releases Fernando Torres in on goal. I want Sexy Teeth himself (Luis Suarez) being put through on goal.
Back to fanboys though, why care? It seems to annoy you that people are fanboys but just get over it (to be frank). There's idiots in every way of life. If some diehard Nintendo fan doesn't want to play COD, fine. If some COD diehard doesn't want to experience the unadulterated joy of a new 3D Mario, fine. Just relax and move on. That seems to be what it boils down to, you not understanding how they can say that but why do you care? It really isn't important to anyone. Let them miss out on games.
Anyway, I won't be replying any further as I'm away to Legoland, taking my nephew. And despite being 29 I am more excited than him. Toodleloo.

Re: Kensuke Tanabe: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is "Kind of a Road Movie"

rastamadeus

@rjejr The problem isn't people defending them, it's people like you who can't see the difference. Releasing the same FPS year in year out with no improvements isn't the same as a sequel every two-three years with much more in way of taking the series forward. But I think you know that as you just seem to want to argue or cause an argument in every post you make on here or Push Square. Like you have to say something "controversial." You're probably not like that in any way but its how you seem a lot of the time. And in my experience its people who use the word fanboy to attack someone that turn out to be a fanboy them self. As for moi, I used to be a Nintendo-only gamer but in the last year or two I've sold my Wii and 3DS and currently own only a PS3 and Vita so I'm clearly a 'fanboy' :')

Re: Super Mario 3D World is "The Grand Culmination" of The Best Ideas From Past 3D Mario Titles

rastamadeus

@DerpSandwich Tell me where the insult in my last message is and I'll apologise. But you won't find one.

Back to the topic though, just because you don't find it exciting you can't claim it doesn't impress. Doesn't impress you, maybe. Personally I think it looks absolutely brilliant, could well be sensational and I will be getting a Wii U just for it. Galaxy was incredible, the sequel is my favourite game ever (second favourite is Mario 64) but its done. People are annoyed at a game which just was never going to happen hasn't been made. Also, nobody said there would be amazing innovations with the touch screens of the 3DS and Wii U NSMB games, people just decided there would be and then complained when there weren't. Again, people complaining over things that they decided would happen which just weren't going to happen. Common problem with people online. Just look at the fuss of Bayonetta 2 (I WANT B2! It's never going to be made IT'S BEING MADE! Wii U? Nooooo. I will never buy it ). At the end of the day you may not like that Nintendo are just trying to create a 3D attempt at NSMB and that's fine but there are many others that are, me included. Also take into note that Galaxy sold sod all compared to NSMB and Nintendo need the sales. If this gets Wii U selling then brilliant. It's already made one sale (moi). And when the Wii U is in more homes I'm sure we'll see a proper (as I guess you'd want to call it) 3D Mario. For now, chill out and look forward to a great game.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Demonstrates Super Smash Bros. in Developer Video

rastamadeus

@Melkaticox Villager is meant to resemble you, the player. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends wearing what your character in AC wears if the game can read your save data. He's actually the only character from AC who would work as a fighter.

Wii Fit Trainer looks a perfect fit (ho ho ho) for Smash. Her quickness and athleticsm will make her quite a popular character.

@FilmerNgameR No, they wouldn't. Sonic and Snake should both be back but that is it for Sega and Konami, like how Mega Man should be Capcom's only character.

Re: Retro Chose Donkey Kong Over Metroid as Its First Wii U Title

rastamadeus

@cdawg Jesus Christ, have you ever heard of patience? There was no Metroid for eight years as they tried to figure out what would be the best way to take the series forward and that's what they're doing again. Have you ever considered maybe Retro don't want to bang out another deep, dark Prime game (like other companies would if Nintendo were unlucky enough to have someone like you in charge and sold the franchise - what a idiotic idea, might I add)? Maybe they don't want to do another FPS. Prime was a trilogy and the trilogy is over. Stark truth is Metroid doesn't sell as well as DKC does so until the username is there there won't be another Metroid but I'm sure when it is Retro will return to Metroid but I doubt it'll be an FPS again. So try waiting without kicking your toys out of the pram like a spoilt brat

Re: Super Mario 3D World is "The Grand Culmination" of The Best Ideas From Past 3D Mario Titles

rastamadeus

@DerpSandwich Wow, have you seen or heard information we haven't to know all that? There's been one little video. How do you know there isn't a one played mode? Or that the level we saw was just at the start of the game and get more like Galaxy or 64s? Oh, that's right, you don't. Why complain about something when you don't yet know anything about it? You can not like the look of it but to a really complain already is, frankly, pathetic.

Re: Kensuke Tanabe: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is "Kind of a Road Movie"

rastamadeus

@rjejr To be fair, three games in the DKC series in, what, five years, is hardly milking it, especially when one is a port. And the Kirby games are all vastly different so you're wrong there too I'm afraid. There's examples you could have used, like New Super Mario Bros as two of them in the same year was a bit much. But then you remember Nintendo are only bringing out one of those games per console. So again it's hardly milking. So you have to ask do they milk their franchises at all? Answer you'd get is a "no." Do they rely too much on their franchises? Absolutely. But it's an odd argument, a double-ended sword even, as everyone buys a Nintendo console to play these games and then the majority have a PS3 or Xbox as well. Just complaining because you can really (not necessarily you, meaning the people who repeat the same old tripe)

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Hopping To Wii U This Year

rastamadeus

@Kodeen "When Nintendolife has the inevitable E3/ND round up thread, I hope they use the Disappointment tag. Just look at how many times it's been used in the comments on this article alone." If we take out the amount of times you've said that word we'll be down to about five. Big deal. There's more people here saying they want the game and are excited for it then don't care about it. But why would you bother with the facts when your opinion is clearly gospel.

Re: FIFA 14 Is Coming To Nintendo Consoles After All - Except The Wii U

rastamadeus

It's not Microsoft who want this "pay for games again or when you lend them or rent them" policy, it's the third party companies. It's why Sony will have to do it too. Nintendo have told EA that they won't do it so EA aren't releasing games on the Wii U. Simple.

And the reason FIFA didn't sell well on Wii U as it wasn't truly FIFA 13, was it? It was FIFA 12. All reviews slated that lazy port by EA and people listened so didn't buy it. Not rocket science.

Oh, @StyledFawn476 chill out. You don't like EA, we get it. As for "several on-disc DLCs" that's Capcom. And "yearly additions" are a necessity in sports games. The reason people will buy FIFA 13, 14, 15, etc is because it updates the teams. Some may think people who buy them are idiots but it makes a huge difference when you're playing it. If I had Torres scoring goals for Liverpool I'd hate myself, for example. Chill out. There's reasons to hate EA, but those two you gave are not ones in any way.

Re: Oh Snap, Now Rayman Legends Is Coming To PS Vita With Exclusive Content

rastamadeus

@CaveDweller A sequel to a boring platformer that looked beautiful would have saved the Wii U. Somebody is tripping. Amazing how Rayman Origins has got such a good reputation merely by looking so pretty. Yet when you play it you realise how painfully average it is. And Rayman is the most hideous videogame character since Bubsy the bobcat.

Re: Did Sumo Digital Just Tease A Sonic Racing And Mario Kart Crossover?

rastamadeus

@grenworthshero You and I clearly have a different definition of "fun." Generic, bland, poorly-designed games involving a grinning orange clown who you want to smack in the face isn't fun to me. He's not been in a single good game so really can't understand why you'd want him in Smash, especially when you yourself only seemed to like one game of his.

Re: UK Mainstream Newspaper Declares 3DS The "Best Console Ever"

rastamadeus

The same paper that called the 3DS terrible before its release and had stories about how it was destroying people's eyesight with the 3D effect? Not to mention all the other lies they have told in their past - Justice For the 96! - and present. I wouldn't believe a single word in that poopiedoodle rag and, quite frankly, anyone who even touches a copy.

Re: Let Your Creative Juices Flow By Designing A Mascot For SEGA Japan

rastamadeus

@Einherjar and @AltDotNerd - I still find it staggering that people online read something yet only take two or three words in and then speak about it like they've understood it fully. Just moronic. The competition is to design a mascot for Sega Raw, a new website, not to replace Sonic as Sega's mascot. How about you try reading the whole article next time, hey?

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About the F-Zero Franchise

rastamadeus

I've never understood why GX is praised so highly over X and as the pinnacle of the series. Yes it's (still) beautiful and yes it's blisteringly fast but it lacks the feel of the original and N64 classic. It's too loose in control, the music unmemorable (compared to the first two) and the tracks just a little - whisper it - boring. Don't get me wrong it's a good game but its nothing compared to X which is still the best racing game ever made. If the series comes back I hope they look at the N64 as a starting point and not the Cube. Plus we need Death Race back! And a version of the next Mario Kart's Rainbow Road! And the track and vehicle editor!

Oh and how anyone could favour wipEout I do not know. Good games but they get real boring if you play longer than an hour whereas the three console F-Zero titles you can play endlessly.

Re: Talking Point: Review Scores and Unwinnable Arguments

rastamadeus

@erv Your system is absolute nonsense. So if a site hasn't liked quirky games that you personally like then they're disregarded by you? Who do you think you are? The Queen? So pretentious. Some people don't like all sorts of games so could score it low whereas some people would think its amazing. GTA4 was praised universally while I think it's possibly the worst game I've ever played, so should I ignore all the sites that rated it highly? Of course not. That would be stupid.

Re: Talking Point: Review Scores and Unwinnable Arguments

rastamadeus

As I said on PushSquare during their article on this I do wish review scores would just disappear. They cheapen the review and are absolutely worthless. Almost everyone now is obsessed with what score it got on site X or magazine Y and what it's MetaCritic score is. It's pathetic. Edge and GameCentral (the UK's much-missed TeleText magazine) have both in the past come close to dropping scores entirely and I hope a big profile site/mag soon does, causing others to do it too.
