Re: Retro Studios Handled The Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Port On Nintendo Switch

pika677

@Kimyonaakuma give it up, these aren't tests of engines, or tests of market, etc, this is just a way to do cheap/quick development that has a chance at turning a profit. They're not "building hype" for the next one, they're not making fans forget Wii U, they're simply taking a game with easy to port assets, and for a minimal cost trying to fill in the massive gaps between Switch games, because Nintendo is being so stupid trying to prop up the dead 3DS by wasting development time/money on it when everyone else (Game Freak, Level 5, Atlus just to name a few) have already said they're done with 3DS, all their time/money is going into Switch.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Leaf Update Is Available Now

@Aurumonado still need amiibo to do them though. None of this works without amiibo to unlock them. They're trying desperately to get the massive stock of figures and cards to sell, as most stores have put them on clearance to unload the large quantities.

Re: Animal Crossing: Wild World

pika677

@MageNoobMan57 if it's a port of WW, why are there cliffs, real-life holidays, a character living in a fountain who gives you a golden axe, and Wisp, because Wild World does NOT contain any of that? Also, if CF is a port, why doesn't City Folk have La-Di-Day, Yay Day, or the Acorn Festival with Cornimer? It's a port, so it has those holidays- time travels to those dates, oh City Folk does NOT have those, pretty much proving you 100% WRONG about it being a port of Wild World. Try again.

Re: Kirby Canvas Curse and Animal Crossing: Wild World Hit the Wii U VC This Week

pika677

@Quizler and a city, losing the Animal Crossing: Wild World-specific holidays, cliffs, and a fountain where you get the gold axe like the original. Those things you mention (real life holiday, fps) are from the original. City Folk is more of a blending of Animal Crossing for Game Cube and Wild World, that's why IGN specifically said it's a "blending of the prior two games", because it's NOT any one prior game.

Re: The Man Behind One Of YouTube's Most Famous Characters Talks Nintendo NX

pika677

Did I hear him right, saying every system with exception of the NES every was "under-powered"? He needs to see the numbers of the SNES next to the Genesis, even Ben Heck said SNES was more powerful than Genesis after he tore both down. I also can't believe he said the 64-bit N64 was under-powered to the 32-bit PlayStation and Saturn, or the GameCube under-powered, especially when compared to PS2... Really, Iwata took them in the different direction of focusing on play control instead of power, starting with the Wii.

Re: Climate "Not Healthy" For Dedicated Handheld Games Consoles, Says Sony's Shuhei Yoshida

pika677

You are aware that at the time the Wii was beginning to take off, is the same exact point the DS took off- 2006/2007. The handheld was helped in part by the home, as it pushed Nintendo back upfront, but also at the same time smartphones were only starting to come out, so gaming on them was rather inferior. Now, you take out the Wii/DS, and compare the WiiU and 3DS to the GBA and GC, they don't look that bad, yes, they're slightly below, but not horrifically below, as Nintendo has continued to retain about 80% of the market they had in 2003. Not bad, but not a fad anymore like the DS and Wii were.

Re: Mario History: Super Mario World - 1991

pika677

Nintendo of America people can't even keep it straight. In 1991, Nintendo Power called him a dinosaur, the game itself calls him a dinosaur, yet these reps are like "Dinosaur? He's not a dinosaur, he's a Yoshi!" Then, why is he called a dinosaur by you in the past??

Re: Mario History: Super Mario Bros. 3 - 1990

pika677

You guys got a couple facts wrong, unless you're talking about Europe, because Super Mario Brothers 3 debuted October 23, 1988 while the Mega Drive debuted 6 days later on October 29, 1988, meaning the 16-bit era hadn't yet been established by Sega.

Re: Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Leads as Splatoon Passes Half a Million Sales in Japan

@XCWarrior that was amiibo Festival, HHD was moderately received.

@manu0 that's due to influx thanks to the popularity of HHD right now, it's sparking older games. City Folk did that with Wild World too.

@crimsontadpoles it's a series that ALWAYS does well in Japan. Wild World, the highest selling in the series had roughly 50% sales from Japan alone! New Leaf has nearly the same ratio! It's a game that is loved by Japanese players more than any other country.

@Yorumi you've clearly never played this game. I'm responsible for 2 of those sales, and this game is FAR more packed than people are giving it credit for! Easily a 100+ hour game!!

@MajorasMax Trust me, you're going to LOVE IT!! It's an awesome game! I'm not just saying that from what others say, I have TWO copies, and play it everyday, it's AWESOME!!! It's also a good thing I studied Japanese, comes in handy right now!

@sinalefa both most likely. It's an awesome, VERY addictive game (I know from experience playing it since launch), and of course Japan eats Animal Forest stuff up like it's going to stop being produced tomorrow!

@Ichiban doubt that, just look how the console version does there versus the handheld. It's BY FAR loved more in its handheld Japanese version than anything else.

@Will-75 good, but not great, look at how City Folk bombed in sales in the US, and on a system that is Nintendo's highest selling home console!
