Wish i could also get some Japanese gift cards for Switch in Europe, so i would definately get Virtua Racing. Don't want to wait for the European version (they might skip it, like they did with Turbo OutRun on 3DS) but so far, i can only get my hands on European gift cards for credit.
I have been waiting so long for this, so yes, i will be getting this the moment it is released. It looks like the gameshop here is not going to have it, as i still can't pre order this, so it may be a e-shop purchase!
Even while i have all of the games on it, Power Drift alone makes it worth the asking price! The rest is just a big bonus, and like someone said, i could now erase the games i allready have, and play them on the cartridge if i still can get hold of a physical copy!
I hope you guys/girls have a way of getting in touch with Sega, to let them know we want Power Drift also in America, Europe, and wherever the 3DS is being sold. This never has gotten a proper European release, and i am a HUGE fan of sprite scaling games. Only 3 more to go, and all my favorite Sega racing sprite scalers have come home on the 3DS!
Would love to see Turbo OutRun, OutRunners, and Rad Mobile as well! All those games would be a instant buy here!
To keep me ocupied till then, i will play it on the Xbox 360. I got the full collection, and the stand alone too!
Still, can't wait for it, the 3D will be awesome, and the love that M2 gives to those classics makes them a must buy for any gamer that is a Sega fan, or at least had a Megadrive/Genesis at that time and played this to bits!
Can't wait for the European release halfway trough this month! Loved this on the Megadrive, but i know for sure this will be even more fun on the 3DS! Except for the excellent fan service in those game, this game also lends itself to a short playing burst. Hope they include a save feature like they did on the SOR collection on Xbox Live Arcade.
I agree with dronespitter about the sprite scaling ports, they are just the best, and if you ask me, the 3D effect on most of those games, specially Afterburner II and Galaxy Force II, the 3D is even better than those of polygon based games. I always knew that Sega could look into the future. Those old games where just made for 3D!
Hope Sega will continue the release of Arcade games on 3DS, like Turbo Out Run, Power Drift, OutRunners, Rad Mobile, and Rail Chasers, to name just a few. Those will be awesome in 3D as well!
Oh, and if they desice to make all the games out there on the 3DS on Xbox One and Playstation 4 (with the ability to switch on and off the 3D effect), i love to play those games on the big screen too! Racing games like OutRun where just made for the Xbox One controller!
I knew this game would not be big, but come on, how can 4,99 € be to expensive for such great coding work. For good measure, they also included a new level with end boss. But then, that's my opinion. In the 80's i was always gaming in the arcades, and those Sega sprite scaler games always surprised me. I loved them the most, so all the other ones that still deserves a come back to 3DS i would buy in a heartbeat, as also those games never saw a proper home port yet:
3D Power Drift (O.k. The Saturn version is awesome, but this just begs for the 3D effect!) 3D Rail Chase (cool on rails shooter, may be less playable due to the lack of light gun for shooting) 3D Turbo Out Run (Also never saw a proper conversion outside the arcades) 3D Rad Mobile (Saturn version was so bad, and the loading times breaks up the game badly, want this one so bad on the 3DS) 3D OutRunners (Forks in the road are back! Also this Out Run game could have multi player online or at least wireless with friends in the same room!)
3D Out Run is allready out, and for this game it's only a day and a half wait, now i hope everyone in europe is going to buy all those freshly released 3D games, Like Afterburner II, Out Run, and soon Thunder Blade! Hope sega makes enough sells to warrant a new batch of arcade conversions, like:
3D Power Drift. 3D Turbo OutRun. 3D Rail Chase. 3D OutRunners. 3D Rad Mobile.
Just one and a half day, and i have another Sega sprite scaler game from my old times at the arcades, Hope they will do them all! Still waiting for:
3D Power Drift. 3D Turbo OutRun. 3D OutRunners. 3D Rail Chase. 3D Rad Mobile.
So come on Sega, there's even more money to be made! And maybe even port all the 3D games to Wii U, Playstation 4, and Xbox One, with a 3D option! Would be awesome, and since the games that are allready out on Nintendo's 3DS, most of those don't even need much work to get them in 3D
This game has emptied the power of my new 3DS more than 3 times allready! I hope Sega will release all their big arcade hits from yesteryear where they used sprite scaling. Turbo OutRun, OutRunners, Power Drift, Rail Chase, and also the first Hang on would be great. I would get them all!
Also i don't understand, i gave a 5 star rating in the Eshop. I only see 3 ratings here (location: Europe Netherlands). I wonder if there are so manny fans here, why the game has just 3 ratings? All you have to do is having played the game for a hour to be able to rate it Show Sega how much you want them to continue making those sprite scaling classics!
Yes, Finaly this will be out! The moment i wake up, i go see if it has arived in the E-shop! Then fill up my money on the system, as then i will have not enough for Thunderblade! I want ALL the sprite scaler games!
This is allready in my wish list, the moment this gets released, i get notified!
Now all i want from Sega are ALL their sprite scaler games converted to this system (would be even better if ALL systems/consoles gets those games). Never had a proper home version of Turbo OutRun, OutRunners, and others.
Power Drift may be good on the Saturn, but i bet the 3D effect would be super awesome on the NEW 3DS! Come on Sega, make it happen!
Quackshot brought a complete new twist to the platform game, it was not just a easy cash grab from Disney, but a proper platformer with more replay value than any other platformer on the same system (minus Sonic 1 and 2, i played those a bit more, but only because of the speed!)
First of all, great review! I agree with it 100%. This is how a classic should be treated.
So far, i enjoyed all the sprite scaler games Sega brought back to the 3DS, each one giving me that perfect feel of nostalgia, with the added depth of the 3D effect, that will be better even when my NEW 3DS XL will arive in Europe! No more double lines because i move to much!
For this game, i had no worries tough, as the jet fighter model they used seems to be not licenced, or they have payed for the proper licenses. All those sprite scallers are just awesome on the 3DS, can't wait for the rest of them, but i worry for one title, and that is OutRun. I know it looks good, but the changed car may remove my feeling towards this as a game i used to play so much in the arcade in 1986! I have this game also on the Dreamcast collection, where they used the same changed car, and i so much more love my Sega Saturn Japanese copy of that game, just having the proper Testarossa car in it.
I will still buy it, no doubt, but hope the smaller screen will make the changed car model not to much important for me, as it's the gameplay that should be good!
Thanks for the review of Afterburner, i love this game to bits, and will be played a lot more!
Oh, and some games i'd love to see on the 3DS as well:
Virtua Racing: Arcade version, would be great in 3D, as the arcade version was smooth and great!
Turbo OutRun: New surroundings, that feeling of racing trough America in oldschool graphics, and the speed update is just awesome! I loved that ending music!.
OutRunners: Can't have to much of a good thing, and this game should have system link and internet multi player, as this arcade game had a great multiplayer mode in the arcades. More stages, forks in the road are back, revamped old tunes, and new ones! Add to this the cool funny animations at the and, and you can see why i love this a lot.
Power Drift: This game just screams for 3D! The way the camera pans to your car at the start of each race, i'd love to see this one in 3D, but we had a great home version on the Sega Saturn allready!
Now all those great Megadrive/Genesis games are also welcome, so here are a few of my favorite:
Sonic 1, 2, 3, 4: Ok, i must be fair and say Sonic 1 (allready out!) and 2 are my most favorite, closely followed by Sonic 3, but still, it would be cool to have all the Megadrive/Genesis Sonic games out, just to have the collection complete.
Streets of Rage 1, 2, and 3: Ok, the first one is out allready, but number 2 is my most favorite. This side scrolling street brawler was so good (for me), it made me forget wanting a Neo Geo console at that time. I was so impressed with the much improved graphical style, animation, use of collor, and that arcade feel. Also in this case, it would be cool to keep the series complete, so the less favorite 3rd part i'd buy just to keep the series complete.
Mikey Mouse Castle of illusion 1 and 2: I loved those games so much on the Megadrive/Genesis, best platform games that are not Sonic if you ask me. The looks and animations where so good, i finished those games to much, and still enjoy the trip trough those. I disliked the new 3D remake on the Xbox 360/Playstaion 3 compared to the Megadrive/Genesis version.
Donald Duck Quackshot: Platformer with a twist, i loved the idea of backtracking because you got a new plunger that can stick to walls for a while! Graphics and animations where top notch as most platformers from Disney where on this system.
Ok, i know there are more, like Golden Axe, but this game has not much use of 3D, due to the lack of paralax scrolling, and to my taste, i feel the ways you can attack the enemies was rather limited: Hit, or jump and hit. Ok, you had magic, and once in a while you could ride dragons that breath fire or shoot fire balls, but that was not to rewarding to play for me as the other brawlers Sega did. Still, this is a matter of personal taste, so i respect everyone's opinion, and i know this game has been requested by other users.
Best oldschool racing game EVER! Just like most of you, this needs to be released in the rest of the world as soon as possible. No gamer should be without this superb classic, even with changed sprites.
I think Sega really should consider recreating all their sprite scaling games from the 80's-90's! Where's Tubro OutRun and OutRunners? LOL
This game should really be made available in Europe as well. And while they are on it, i also would love to see Afterburner 3D getting released in Europe as well. Nice ports of Sega's oldschool sprite scaling games are always welcome here.

@vantikos No need to get a Japanese account, as the game i waited for (Virtua Racing) finaly saw a release everywhere else outside of Japan

Re: SEGA 3D Classics Collection Has a Tenth Game to Unlock and Play
Cool to hear, now all us European Sega gamers need a release date, as we know this will also come to Europe
Re: SEGA 3D Classics Collection
Hope this will soon get released in Eurupe. I know it is anounced, but no date yet.
Re: SEGA 3D Classics Collection is Confirmed for Europe
Digital or physically, i will get this, even if it is only for Power Drift, as most of the other games i allready own as a download.
