Yesterday we gave you some initial impressions of 3D Streets of Rage 2, the latest entry in Sega's 3D Classics series, which has just been released in Japan.
Everything about the game drips class; it's already a wonderful brawler, but developer M2 has added in even more goodness, such as a special "Quartet" mode, various screen filters and auto-stereoscopic 3D. However, the fan-service doesn't end there - there's a special credit sequence that can be accessed at any time from the main menu which takes things to the next level of awesome.
Nintendo Life staffer Jonathan Town has recorded the entire sequence below - check it out and make sure you're prepared for the game's North American and European release in July.

That was awesome!
This game was probably my most played Mega Drive game. Either that or TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist or Road Rash (1, 2, 3)
Edit: I think Rocksteady should make a reboot. I think it would fit the overall style of the Arkham titles they have made.
That was quality.Wish these guys would give them the HD treatment and bring them to Wii U.
That was incredible
BUT
Awesome! If Sega confirms we're getting Streets of Rage 3 as well, then I'll buy them!
@OorWullie I have the Sega classic collection on PS3. I rebought all the M2 3DS ports because 3D over HD for retro games anytime.
The 3DS M2 ports are the definitive versions in my eyes.
Excellent!!
That was freakin' great. I particularly loved the "eat apples to slim down" segment with the infomercial elements. That was brilliant.
That was amazing.
Even back then "Skate" or "Sammy" rocked Snap-backs, and look he's still in style today.
Streets of rage so needs re doing.
Brand new huge game with combat mechanics taken straight from Batman Arkham games. On line co-op so you are both (up to four) fighting at the same city at once. full story mode, dull interactive and destructible scenery, head through parked cars windows, petrol stations blowing up, vehicle use, combat on vehicles.
Mr x is back in the city, killed max and Adam. Turned skate bad, who is now a bad ass and his main lieutenant. Convinced authorities that axel killed Adam, axel is now in his forties as is blaze And in hiding.
Axel returns to try and reconcile with skate in opening scene but is captured as refuses to fight, then is tortured while imprisoned.
Game opens with player as blaze, (fast, strong and sexier than ever haha) she reaches axel and frees him, player eta to continue as either to fight there way out of the streets of rage, "The Raid" style with Arkham Combat controls. City is a hell hole 100% ran by Mr x and you battle literally 100's of his henchmen in visceral, bone breaking combat with a bitter knarled and more violent axel, or a mystique fast blaze.
Other characters get introduced along the way, a a support cop who drove a car in the original remembers blaze and joins the fight, zen? Zen is dead, he was rubbish.
Ultimately comes down to a fight with skate and axel, blaze and Mr x until the truth is outed and skate joins the fight in the culmination scene as the city erupts from the final death (after 20 years of reign) of Mr x and you finally have axel, skate and blaze taking on the city for their life (almost like escape from new York) in an epically ridiculous huge battle
That guy was bipbopbup in a manhole to Blaze...
Haha! how evil is Sammy?
That was fantastic.
Really hope Sonic 2 gets something special too. (Hidden Palace)
Day one purchase!! WII U sega please for the love of god!!!!!
Check out the 3D Out Run credits if you have it, those are great too.
@Farpun I totally agree that these are the definitive releases of these games to date because the Super Scaler technology seems made to be presented in stereoscopic 3D. M2 didn't just include the great 3D, though, they deliver in every possible way on these ports. I have bought many of them, not all, but if we ever get a physical compilation here in North America I'm buying it!
The manhole dwelling pervert has me intrigued, I wonder what shenanigans he will be up to NEXT Saturday Morning?!
I just wish there was maybe like a month delay getting these over to North America instead 6 month to 1 year delay they operate on
Can't wait for the European release halfway trough this month! Loved this on the Megadrive, but i know for sure this will be even more fun on the 3DS! Except for the excellent fan service in those game, this game also lends itself to a short playing burst. Hope they include a save feature like they did on the SOR collection on Xbox Live Arcade.
I agree with dronespitter about the sprite scaling ports, they are just the best, and if you ask me, the 3D effect on most of those games, specially Afterburner II and Galaxy Force II, the 3D is even better than those of polygon based games. I always knew that Sega could look into the future. Those old games where just made for 3D!
Hope Sega will continue the release of Arcade games on 3DS, like Turbo Out Run, Power Drift, OutRunners, Rad Mobile, and Rail Chasers, to name just a few. Those will be awesome in 3D as well!
Oh, and if they desice to make all the games out there on the 3DS on Xbox One and Playstation 4 (with the ability to switch on and off the 3D effect), i love to play those games on the big screen too! Racing games like OutRun where just made for the Xbox One controller!
