@speedracer216 The Wii U was an amazing console for Nintendo fans. Lots of high quality Nintendo exclusives, many of which were tailored for a second screen experience. Also produced a fantastic eShop experience with a thriving indie scene. My guess is the console will be highly sought after in 10 years as a quality Nintendo curiosity that was criminally overlooked. My family got hundreds of hours of entertainment from Wii U over its entire lifespan.
@shazzy Amen to that. I understand that Nintendo probably made the wise decision that running their own social network was an administrative burden not worth the investment, but Miiverse will for me go down as a glorious experiment of the WiiU Era, and a shining example of Nintendo's quirkiness. It will probably never be matched.
I feel the same way. I have lots of games for the Wii U, pretty much all of Nintendo's first-party efforts. So naturally there are many many great gaming experiences to reflect upon, with Smash, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart, Pikmin 3, Splatoon, Xenoblade X and more recently Paper Mario Color Splash being particular high points for me.
Also, my little children basically got their gaming chops on the Wii U and 3DS. The past few years for them have been what the N64 was for me. So I'm sure they'll remember the Wii U with fondness too.
Also, it's easy to forget, but this was the generation where Nintendo finally got an account system in place, and where Miiverse was introduced. Both sea change moments for Nintendo in my opinion.
@rjejr Oof. Here's hoping you are forever wrong about Nintendo doing "complete" versions of games. How would you like to see "complete" version of Smash Bros on the eShop right next to the $40-$50 of DLC you bought over the previous year.
I would stop buying Nintendo games on release date if that ever happened. Anti-consumer practices at their worst.
I'm enjoying my Wii U too, but this news makes me sick. I can foresee a world where my children get to enjoy nothing but AC and Madden games every year. Oh and CoD. Why don't more people enjoy the great games that Nintendo makes anymore.?
@SuperKMx The argument you put forth is all Nintendo Japan needs to know about this subject.
One caveat: I have more than one 3DS (kids in the house), so I'd probably opt for physical 3DS cards regardless, but for the home consoles like Wii U, of course I would go digital if it were safe to do so.

Re: A 'Big' Nintendo Announcement is Coming on Monday
Considering who's dropping the hint, I'm expecting another Humble Nindie Bundle. And if so... well, as we say, my body is ready.

NX release date obviously
