@Whopper744 Yes, I was SOOO disappointed to learn this. My wife and I would have played two-player adventure mode every night together. What possessed them to not include it as an option? Seriously...either one or three players!?!?
Describing this as "chill out" might be the best way to get me interested. I just finished Tropical Freeze and, boy oh boy, does it get difficult. This might be a nice change of pace. I don't need every platformer I play to be Super Meat Boy.
@TheRealThanos It's my only physical WII U game. My comment was in response to another poster's about lending. I was just saying that physical games have their own fragility--namely they can be lost, stolen, or destroyed. But yeah, I suppose if that happens you can just buy another physical copy, whereas if you lose a digital copy that is no longer supported and can't redownload it you are out of luck.
@mr_nihilism the only physical wii u game I own is Nintendo Land. I lent it to someone many months ago and haven't seen it again. While I like the idea of lending physical games, it can certainly lead to a tangled mess of people forgetting to return them. Hasn't Amazon implemented something like this with their ebooks? You can loan your digital copy to a friend. I would love a system like that. I could specify the loan period and it would automatically return the game to my system.
Why would I collect lots of physical games when there are basically only a few per system I'd be interested in keeping the rest of my life? I take a similar approach to movies: I only have a handful of favorites that I watch multiple times, so I eventually buy physical copies of those.
This game seemed a little too good to be true for the Wii U anyway. I prepared for this news by convincing myself that I wasn't interested in realistic racing sims anymore.
Personally, I buy one video game per month (on average). I try to buy a good game that I can really dig into on either my 3DS or Wii U. Since I don't buy very many games, I don't even question the price. I wonder if a lot of the problem stems from the fact that people are just buying too many games. That would definitely make me more price sensitive.
Yup. Super stable 3D is the feature that sold me on the system. Considering that was pretty much the most highly touted feature in all their promotional material, it's hard to imagine how they would have marketed without it: "Hey, here's a New 3DS....amiibo support for all those toys you can't find....this cool little nub thing.....and a little bit faster." I'm definitely glad Miyamoto got his way.
Almost every piece of news that comes out about this is positive (except the voice chat thing). I won't use voice chat anyway (with strangers) since I find it kind of awkward, so that doesn't bother me much.
@aaronsullivan here's one way it could look and be both technically possible and appealing:
There would still be a box under your TV with the power to drive the latest console graphics. The "gamepad" would be upgraded, redesigned, and downsized a bit. The subscription service allows access to all of Nintendo's VC games from past systems and the gamepad has hardware that can handle playing any of them on the go. To play modern Nintendo console games, you've got to be at home with the set top box.
@Kirby_Fan_DL3 Yes, Nintendo Life's review scores are probably biased because they are written by hardcore Nintendo fans. However, I find this to be a useful bias when deciding whether or not to purchase a game. If scores are skewed high here, it's a pretty good bet that a game that receives a 7 or below is definitely not worth my time. Also, I'm not sure how you would get around this problem. It seems pretty difficult to find people that aren't biased toward a particular type or genre of game.
I just bought Kirby Fighters on impulse and am pleasantly surprised. It seems totally worth the $7 to me as they added several new stages and abilities to the Triple Deluxe version. This will definitely keep me entertained and whet my appetite for Smash Bros.!

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I really wish youtube commentators weren't a thing.

Re: The New Update For Teslagrad is Now Live in North America
@Razzle I gave up trying to beat him! I thought the precision movements and physics made it one of the hardest bosses I've played.

@skija totally agreed, this series is historically packed full of creativity and challenge...even if it is a simple art style

Re: Review: Mario Golf: World Tour (3DS)
@ThomasBW84 but can two players play at the same time on the same 3ds by alternating shots?
