I wish Nintendo added Super Game Boy support to the VC GB emulator. Kirby's Block Ball (among others like Kirby's Dream Land 2 or Donkey Kong 94) looked a lot better.
Animal Crossing will probably be the only one that I'll buy in its digital version, even if I have to pay the same price as the boxed one. I wasn't not going to buy the 3DS version (I feel that I spent too much time on the the DS version), but this changes everything. Having it installed will make it easier to switch between games or to play short sessions without having to swap gamecards.
If they fix the same price they make sure that there won't be any competition between digital and boxed games. Personally, I don't like paying the same for a game without its box and manual. It should be at least 5€ cheaper. But, from the company point of view, I think it's a good strategy, and should make consumers happy because that means that boxed games won't disappear (for now). They are just giving an alternative.
The original GBC and GBA had a generic character with your name and he/she even didn't talk. I don't see any difference between having a generic character and your own Mii, specially if you can dress him/her as you want. So, yes. This is an excuse.
He is a bit arrogant, but I have to admit that he is right. Wii Shop is a huge fail, in all aspects.
And selling less than 6000 units in Wii Shop shouldn't be considered shovelware as some users mentioned above. Nintendo didn't help the developers to sell more in Wii Shop (slow and confusing navigation, demos that came late and with limitations, no offers, etc.), it isn't necessarily developers' fault to sell less than 6000 units. And then we have that chimney simulator that sold more than 6000. Oh... That's the real shovelware.
Will we be able to merge Wii and 3DS accounts? I'm not going to pay again for games that I already bought. Well... I could pay again if it was something like 1 or 2€. But 5€ for a NES game is too expensive.
@Cipher: I don't agree. Having a demo installed (or being able to download it at anytime without limits) can be a reason to buy a game in a future. I could I try it today twice and don't feel like buying it. But who knows... Maybe in a future I play it again and change my mind. Wii demo limitations had a reason to be there: reducing bandwitdh in Nintendo servers (or at least we must believe that, because it also sounds silly). What's the point of limiting the number of times you can play a demo? It's already a demo, so it's already limited. I doubt they are talking about downloading the complete game with that limitation. But if that's what they were talking about, then it means the same lazyness as Wii demos: they are not going to modify any game to take out features (AFAIK they only took out savegame features in most Wii demos).
I know that Iwata don't make these decisions But he's the responsible on where his company will go. And he should see that they are not doing the things right with both Wii and 3DS shops.
What's going on with Nintendo? Can't they hire someone to redesign their online platform?
Iwata obviously doesn't know anything about online, they need someone that thinks differently. Come on. Limiting the number of times a demo can be played? That's even worse than Wii's demos! Seriously, I'm starting to believe that Wii U will be another fail in online terms. They promised a good online platform for Wii, then they promised the same for 3DS, and both failed.
Sorry if I'm sounding like a troll, but it's hard to believe that Iwata is not joking with this announcement.
I don't understand why a second stick is so needed. Nintendo DS had a great touch screen that worked perfectly as a second stick. Metroid Prime Hunters was not a very good game IMHO, but it had an incredible control thanks to the touch screen. Nintendo 3DS has a touch screen and even the gyroscopes. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker had awful controls due to the lack of a second stick. But I don't see any problem using the touch screen to move the camera.
This second stick addon is very horrible. It seems poorly designed and transforms your 3DS into a monster. If it's going to be used in all games from now on, then a redesign is needed.
After playing Let's Tap or Michael Jackson: The experience, I can say that they are doing it right by removing the waggle that just don't work with these games.
The motion controller revolution that Wii created seems to disappear. Nintendo said they changed the way of playing and now they are forgetting about what made Wii different.
After almost all 10 years, europeans will be able to enjoy their first adventure of Shantae. I played the GBC game up to the 100% completion, and I can say that it's one of the best GBC games that were released. It's a pity that it appeared too late and never reached Europe.

I wouldn't pay more than 10€ for it.
Sounds great, and it can improve experience. But it's not an innovation and it's not necessary.

@James_Newton yes, my fault. It must be that I want this game badly
Re: Nintendo Buys Up TheLastStory.com, Points to Nintendo.com
That domain has been enabled for some months. I remember entering it on summer and it redirected me to nintendo.com.
I hope TLS is released anyway!
EDIT: It seems that now laststory.es now redirects to Nintendo Europe!
