Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire on Nintendo Switch?

Loved it! The original recipe was so good ...Why change it? I started with the pro controller which was flawless. Next hr I played off TV which was a bit more challenging (couldn't figure out how to adjust my view so I was looking down at the switch the entire time...User error most likely) This game needs to reach a wider audience and with anticipated switch popularity, I think it will.

Re: Reaction: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is an Impressive Feat and Shows Off the New Nintendo 3DS

I never played this game so can someone tell me how the combat system works? This will be the key factor in my purchase decision. I loved combat in The Last Story and Pandoras Tower (which I assume this is nothing like) however after playing so many final fantasy games I simply got bored with the Bravely Default combat system despite the fast forward option etc.
Thanks!

Re: Feature: The Wii U is Two Years Old, But How's it Doing?

joeb1kenobi

Nintendo's transition between Wii and WiiU went down about as smooth as drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth. They've definitely paid the price for it however, as usual first party titles are keeping the system's head above water. Here's to hoping that SSB moves tons of consoles! I personally give the WiiU an A simply because it's exactly what I expected it to be, the most entertaining console out there.

Re: Talking Point: The amiibo Range Grows, Yet Key Questions Remain

Amiibo are going to be HOT this holiday season! The demand will probably pour over into the beginning of next yr as well. The lack of definitive information regarding future compatibility is most likely due to the fact that Nintendo is probably more concerned about short term profitability. Look at SSB pre-order #'s! Their fiscal YR ends in March $$$
(PS - I've preordered 7)

local co-op Zelda-ish game: this is equivalent to probably 10 date nights with my wife divided by the cost of the game = roughly $6.50 a night. However, bridging the gap between my love for the Zelda series and my wife's bewilderment as to how i can sit and play 1 game for 8hrs straight is priceless to me.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3?

i have multiple friends who transitioned from thinking WiiU was garbage to going out and purchasing one either for themselves or for the entire family after the release of MK8 and the amazing show this year. Bravo Nintendo! It was a 1-2 combination punch that absolutely changed the fortune of the WiiU for the better!

Re: Remake Request: ActRaiser

joeb1kenobi

I remember frying on this game for hours as a kid, listening to metallica -and justice for all. A remake would be fantastic!! I love my 3DS but definitely would rather play a remake on the big screen via WiiU, utilizing the gamepad for the sim areas is a great idea!

Re: Nintendo Confirms Dedicated Development Team for Smart Device Services

I know it's not a new concept, but I can see a more robust version of streetpass via mobile device being an interesting and possibly fun way to advertise current and upcoming releases. Nintendo would have to focus on making a reason for non-nintendo owners to want the app. I guess that's Nintendo's current challenge "what can we do to get consumers, especially in the west, to want to become a part of the nintendo culture".

Re: Video: World 2 Of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Looks Something Like This

Really excited for this. DKCR was fantastic and very challenging in terms of the bonus levels and I expect this will be very similar in that regard. These games are designed to be precision platforming action, where the only way you're going to get thru a difficult level is repetition and reflex. I'd personally rather have the pro controller in my hand for that, so no complaints here about limited gamepad functionality.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Wii U Struggles Bring a Challenge, Not Doom

joeb1kenobi

@micronean I agree. Kinda more of a nintendo fan pipe dream than anything. I love the gamepad functionality, off tv play and so forth. When i bought WiiU back in Nov 2012 it seemed like a 1080p gamepad "on the go" (hate to call it a tablet but you get the idea) was a feasible direction to go in. Unfortunately at this point it seems very unlikely that nintendo is going to spend millions developing a new peripheral for a system that isn't pulling it's weight.

Re: Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Figurine Spooked Off Club Nintendo

joeb1kenobi

so pissed!!!! thought i was doing myself a favor by purchasing LTTP last month for 150 coins so I would be able to buy it for $1.50 when it finally hits WiiU VC. This F**KING misstep put me right under the 1500 coin mark. Now i've got 1375 coins with nothing to spend them on....again, or tote bag, wash cloth, pen case....FMFingL.

Re: Tech Site The Verge Thinks The Wii U's Failure Won't Change Nintendo

joeb1kenobi

WiiU will be just fine. Nintendo will continue to build the WiiU library and in mid-late 2014 they will announce the GamePad plus tablet (specs/release date TBD). It will be a fully functional gamepad that will work at home or on the go. People will be skeptical that nintendo is "stepping on the toes of the 3DS" but nintendo will remind us that it is normal in modern society for people to carry more than 1 portable device and we should just be happy that we can play SM3DW, MarioKart 8, SSB, etc on the subway, bus, road trip, lunch break and so on....then i woke up and remembered i had to go to work. Awesome dream though!
