I imagine there is some truth to this. Obviously Nintendo is going to keep their mouth shut about a new switch model because they don't want to hurt current model sales... but it makes sense why they had no news regarding BoTW 2 in the latest direct. They're going to release it with the new model.
I wish Nintendo would stop delaying the inevitable and raise the price of the online service. These gimmicky coupons aren't going to convince any new people to join the service... however, I'm sure a $10 increase to the cost of the yearly subscription with the promise of SNES game would bring a multitude of new subscribers.
Loved it! The original recipe was so good ...Why change it? I started with the pro controller which was flawless. Next hr I played off TV which was a bit more challenging (couldn't figure out how to adjust my view so I was looking down at the switch the entire time...User error most likely) This game needs to reach a wider audience and with anticipated switch popularity, I think it will.
Anyone know how big the update will be? I'm in a hotel and will have to use my phone's portable hotspot (like with 3DS). Hoping my data doesn't get too crushed...
Put TT in smash....his only move is whistling and looking adorable. Then make an Amiibo out of it: Toki Tori Amiibo - Ebay exclusive - sold out $1,000,000 Buy it now Free shipping
TT2 was absolutely brilliant! I remember sitting at work behind my computer, blankly staring out the window playing thru the puzzles in my head, excited to get home and further my progress. It was also the first game that made miiverse fun for me due to player camaraderie and developer interaction.
@burninmylight @khululy Wow, thanks for the detailed description! It sounds a little intimidating for a guy who doesn't like straying too far from the standard Zelda style (simple action adventure) combat. On the other hand, this game looks too amazing to pass up. Thanks!
I never played this game so can someone tell me how the combat system works? This will be the key factor in my purchase decision. I loved combat in The Last Story and Pandoras Tower (which I assume this is nothing like) however after playing so many final fantasy games I simply got bored with the Bravely Default combat system despite the fast forward option etc. Thanks!
@DespyCL - you should be ok. That happened to me a bunch of times today intermittently where it appeared I had 0 coins, but would log out/in or change screens and my coins would be back. scared the hell outta me tho!! I'm sure it's just a glitch due to high usage volume.
the regular bundle was available on the gamestop website yesterday for a while but sold out quick. It looks like they're only offering the "ultimate" bundle now and forcing frantic Zelda fans to purchase the fancy guide. Well played gamestop.
Nintendo's transition between Wii and WiiU went down about as smooth as drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth. They've definitely paid the price for it however, as usual first party titles are keeping the system's head above water. Here's to hoping that SSB moves tons of consoles! I personally give the WiiU an A simply because it's exactly what I expected it to be, the most entertaining console out there.
Amiibo are going to be HOT this holiday season! The demand will probably pour over into the beginning of next yr as well. The lack of definitive information regarding future compatibility is most likely due to the fact that Nintendo is probably more concerned about short term profitability. Look at SSB pre-order #'s! Their fiscal YR ends in March $$$ (PS - I've preordered 7)
Awesome! I'm one of the few nintendo lifers who never really got into smash bros. I love hyrule warriors however and now it seems i'll have a reason to open my link amiibo.
Bravely Second looks great! Unfortunately bravely default started feeling less like a game and more like a chore the farther I got in it. I put it down months ago and haven't thought about it since....now actually.
local co-op Zelda-ish game: this is equivalent to probably 10 date nights with my wife divided by the cost of the game = roughly $6.50 a night. However, bridging the gap between my love for the Zelda series and my wife's bewilderment as to how i can sit and play 1 game for 8hrs straight is priceless to me.
i have multiple friends who transitioned from thinking WiiU was garbage to going out and purchasing one either for themselves or for the entire family after the release of MK8 and the amazing show this year. Bravo Nintendo! It was a 1-2 combination punch that absolutely changed the fortune of the WiiU for the better!
I remember frying on this game for hours as a kid, listening to metallica -and justice for all. A remake would be fantastic!! I love my 3DS but definitely would rather play a remake on the big screen via WiiU, utilizing the gamepad for the sim areas is a great idea!
I know it's not a new concept, but I can see a more robust version of streetpass via mobile device being an interesting and possibly fun way to advertise current and upcoming releases. Nintendo would have to focus on making a reason for non-nintendo owners to want the app. I guess that's Nintendo's current challenge "what can we do to get consumers, especially in the west, to want to become a part of the nintendo culture".
Really excited for this. DKCR was fantastic and very challenging in terms of the bonus levels and I expect this will be very similar in that regard. These games are designed to be precision platforming action, where the only way you're going to get thru a difficult level is repetition and reflex. I'd personally rather have the pro controller in my hand for that, so no complaints here about limited gamepad functionality.
@Bigdog absolutely agree. my new standard for console gaming has become off tv play. if it was feasible, i'd like to see a gamepad (plus) introduced with better resolution and maybe even a portability option, but i doubt that will happen.
@micronean I agree. Kinda more of a nintendo fan pipe dream than anything. I love the gamepad functionality, off tv play and so forth. When i bought WiiU back in Nov 2012 it seemed like a 1080p gamepad "on the go" (hate to call it a tablet but you get the idea) was a feasible direction to go in. Unfortunately at this point it seems very unlikely that nintendo is going to spend millions developing a new peripheral for a system that isn't pulling it's weight.
after a million attempts i finally got the last 3 stars in SM3DW last weekend...BRUTAL!! I also (sadly) am at the end of the Bravely Default demo, so for this weekend it's on to Unepic (WiiU) and ZombiU (for the 1st time)
I enjoyed the part of the article where the NL team fantasized (over a beer) about the WiiU / 3DS being a portable device that could also be used at home as a console. I've had this same chat with friends (over a vodka).
I was on the fence about this game, put @ 10hrs into the demo and now absolutely can't wait to pick it up. games like this and ni no kuni remind me why I used to enjoy playing RPG's.
ghost runs and miiverse are all the online experience this game needs. anything further would be a waste of resource. Shortly we'll have MK8 and SSB which are truly designed to take full advantage of the online experience. No need to force it on SM3DW.
so pissed!!!! thought i was doing myself a favor by purchasing LTTP last month for 150 coins so I would be able to buy it for $1.50 when it finally hits WiiU VC. This F**KING misstep put me right under the 1500 coin mark. Now i've got 1375 coins with nothing to spend them on....again, or tote bag, wash cloth, pen case....FMFingL.
WiiU will be just fine. Nintendo will continue to build the WiiU library and in mid-late 2014 they will announce the GamePad plus tablet (specs/release date TBD). It will be a fully functional gamepad that will work at home or on the go. People will be skeptical that nintendo is "stepping on the toes of the 3DS" but nintendo will remind us that it is normal in modern society for people to carry more than 1 portable device and we should just be happy that we can play SM3DW, MarioKart 8, SSB, etc on the subway, bus, road trip, lunch break and so on....then i woke up and remembered i had to go to work. Awesome dream though!
companies like two tribes who get involved with their communities help to make miiverse great. i participated in all the drawing contests they held and was very happy to see the winners drawings included in the toki tori 2 update.
haha! i remember clipping the tabs out of my SNES so I could play SD Gundam, and pop'n TwinBee and propping my PS disc cover up with a stick so I could play goemon.
Great thread! Instead of being bored at work, i just spent 35 min reading this fabulous battle of semantics regarding the meaning of social networking. now it's off to lunch.
