@HollywoodHogan Ha no. Vince is a member over at nintendoage.com his name there is UncleTusk. I go by jbogames there. Actually Vince is friends with the original winner of the NWC back in the day. And Robin Mihara is a regular at nintendoage, he was an original competitor as well. There was a news article on some gaming sites going around about this rule change bs as well.

Meh. Some of them didn't earn their way there. There's a dude named Vince Clemente that played in California. He had the highest score at around 5 million. He knows he can do better as he regularly scores over 7 million. So he asked multiple officials if he was allowed to get back in line and try again. He was told no multiple times. The rule was one try per person. So he went home, went home holding first place.

After he left other people asked if they could try again. They were allowed to play over and over again until they were finally able to beat Vince's score, with 5.5 million. Apparently this rule change happened at a couple locations, but not all if them. Even though Vince had first place, no one bothered to call him back and let him know about the rule change. If you look up the rankings, Vince has 2nd or 3rd place nationwide with a score of 7.9 million.

So I guess by earning it means, playing over and over again for hours, until you could finally manage to beat a guy who got one shot.

I don't see this about face some people are complaining about. They have never said they wouldn't get into mobile. They said their main console releases would never be on mobile. In fact they have been saying for a while now that they would be entering the mobile space. And from the statements translated above it seems they are on that same path that they have been on. There will be mobile games that tie into console games.

Seems like a lot of people got excited when they heard Nintendo on mobile, and didn't pay attention to the small details.

Re: Video: Fan Manages to Port F-Zero to the Mega Drive

@WaxxyOne The processor was very important actually. Take Street Fighter 2 for example. If you play that game competitively, then the SNES version is completely out of the question. The slow down breaks the game. If processing power wasn't important then Nintendo wouldn't have had to play catch up by adding co-processors inside the game packs. The truth is, Genesis could do all those scaling and rotation effects nativly that Nintendo liked to brag about, but it's system couldn't even do on its own. The only clear advantage the SNES had spec wise, was the amount of colors on screen.

@CB85 It is pretty impressive considering the Genesis is running this straight off it's own hardware. The SNES couldn't run the game. It had to put a secondary processor inside the game cartridge. This is why SNES games were sometimes $70-$90. The hardware was weak, so Nintendo put additional hardware inside of the game cartridges. The Genesis came out a lot earlier than the SNES, but it still smoked it. The only clear advantage the SNES had was a larger color pallet.

Re: Rose Colored Gaming is Working on a New Line of Portables With Diverse Emulation Options

jbopatrick

@ZenTurtle Other than ethical reasons of playing your own Roms, that is completely pointless. You are still emulating. You are not playing the actual cartridge. You are just dumping only the rom file and completely ignoring all the special chips the cartridge uses. So if you already have the ability to dump your Roms as you claim, this would be perfect for you. You can use your dumped Roms in this machine, just as you are using your dumped Roms in your other machine. Actually playing the cartridges requires the original hardware or clone systems (not including the retron5 as it only dumps Roms)

@Vincent294 I would think they would be going more for the success of the original Wii, SNES, or NES. The N64 was its first console that that fell behind to second place (and it was a pretty distant second). The Gamecube then fell even further back to third place. The Wii brought Nintendo back to greatness, unexpectedly outselling Microsoft and PlayStation's powerful boxes.
