$5 for games like DK Jr. and Ice Climbers? Heck no. Nintendo should do like they do with Gameboy games where they charge a dollar less for the simpler titles.
Never expected that this one would see a chance of coming out of Japan. Please please please come to the West. This is one non-portable that I would definitely buy. Another import Famicom Shump that I'd love to see is Crisis Force. That was one of the more impressive looking games on the console.
@Tra_Venous: Oh yes please. Gun NAC would be an excellent release.
Decent list, but I already have those games, and I have no interest in Gamepad play. Hopefully the games are released at a decent rate (at least one a week would be nice) and we see more than what's already on the Wii VC (Earthbound's a good start).
And this is why I have no plans to ever download retail games for Nintendo consoles. The fact that they don't don't have an account-based system yet is pretty depressing. Get it together Nintendo.
Hopefully it's tomorrow. The faster loading times would be very welcome.
As for what I want for the VC, I'll just repost the list that I posted in the wishlist thread.
Castlevania: Bloodlines Contra Soul Blazer Illusion of Gaia Terranigma (Import) Mr. Gimmick (Import) The Guardian Legend Splatterhouse 3 Ginga FukeiI Densetsu Sapphire (Import) Mayhem in Monsterland (Import) Jumpman Bruce Lee Gun*nac Spriggan (Import) Bangai-O (Import) Jackal MSX support SEGA CD/32X support
Since the Wii U doesn't have a pathetically low file size restriction, we need some Sega CD games. I'd gladly lay down some money for games like Shining Force CD, Snatcher and Sonic CD.
I don't care too much for Mr. Fish. The comments about Nintendo don't bother me at all, but I agree with Bankai about not liking him for this statement. It's not like the West is in any better shape. I also hate how he has to swear in most of his comments. Doesn't make it look serious and I find it mighty hard to take anyone seriously who swears in statements like the one that this article's about.
The Metacritic scores for all available versions of the game are in the 40's, so the Wii U not getting this game wouldn't be much of a loss unlike some of the other third party games like Tomb Raider that aren't coming.
It's not going to happen. Meat Boy doesn't have any games for Nintendo consoles. I doubt even if his game was on the Wii U or 3DS that he'd be in the game. Also, what would his attacks be? All he does in Super Meat Boy is run and jump around. He wouldn't even make a good assist trophy.
I agree with anybody that said Commader Video should make an appearance. His games are on Nintendo consoles, plus they could have attacks for him.
Pretty great week. Already have RCR for the 360 (great game) so I'll pass on it and I know I'll end up getting Runner 2 eventually (loved the first game).
Sounds like he really wants video game consoles that require constant internet connections. If that's what the future of gaming is going to be, then I'll pass.
Also, internet is good in the US but rubbish in most other parts of the world. What this shift to 'online connected single player' experience will effectively do is shut out gamers from country's with poor internet infrastructure. It's a stupid idea.
Agreed. Hopefully the big three realize this and stay away from it.
He doesn't seem too arrogant in his comment regarding Nintendo. Also if you read the article on the site NLife got the story from, he doesn't have anything positive to say about Sony or Microsoft either regarding the future.
"I think Sony and Microsoft are about to come to major blows."
@Andrewroxsox: I never cared much for Patcher either.
@SCAR392: He's still a big figure industry though, so he knows a heck of a lot more than any of us do (unless there's anyone here who works in the gaming industry as well).
@DePapier: Yeah but nothing can last forever. The Nintendo optimists may have been right so far, but like @Chrono_Cross said, nobody can predict the future even if it's had the same results historically.
@Darel: Who says they're just going to immediately stop supporting it when the PS4 comes out?
As for Nintendo becoming software-only, that really wouldn't bother me at all. As long as they still keep making good games (even if it's on other consoles), then I'm fine.
I agree with Knux. WiiWare had some excellent titles (the Bit.Trip series, Castlevania Rebirth, etc.) but for every one of those titles it had three or four Sexy Pokers or Spogs Racings. Hopefully the Wii U Eshop won't suffer the same fate (so far it's looking pretty good).
I watched the one about SCIV and the guy made a good argument about why it's not as good but there was one thing that I didn't like about it. All the times that he was complaining about the whip and stuff was only on the first three levels. Other than that one part where he showed the diagonal whipping for the treasure room level, it was just those levels. He's basically saying that the whole game is a breeze just because the first three levels are easy, which isn't true at all. The later castle levels are pretty tough, even with the whipping in all directions (I still have a lot of difficulty with the stupid clock tower level).
Speaking of the clock tower level, there's a good reason why you shouldn't put any of the whip gimmicks that he suggested involving hanging from it. That's the main reason why I have so much trouble with the clock tower level, and trying to dodge spikes while dangling from a moving whip hook just sounds like a frustrating chore. A couple of the ideas that he suggested with the whip sound like they would have been neat ideas though.
Also, I don't really see what's so bad about making the first three levels so easy. If anything it allows you to appreciate the music and atmosphere before the challenge sets in and you're too busy to care about that kind of stuff. You have eleven or twelve levels, so there's really no need in making the game challenging immediately, unlike Castlevania where the challenge needs to set in quickly since there's only six levels.
Anyways, that's how I feel about the video. Regarding SCIV itself @FluttershyGuy summed up my feelings prefectly.
@shinesprite: I don't think that means that they're only going to have the PS3 as their main home console until 2016. What it means is that they'll continue to support the PS3 until at least 2016, even after their next home console has been released.
Unbelievable. Ubisoft had at least better put in some exclusive content for the Wii U version rather than just let it sit somewhere and forget about it for seven months. Still can't believe it though. It's only February and we already have a contender for the dumbest video game related business move of 2013.

Re: Shantae Set For 3DS Virtual Console This Summer
Nice. Hopefully we get more expensive games like this and Earthbound.
Re: Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed
@Haxonberik: Now there's some wishful thinking. This ain't 2007. We'll be lucky if we see one a week, every week for the first year.

Re: Mario Golf: World Tour Features Online Play And Communities
Can't wait. I doubt I'll use the online much though.
Re: SEGA Reveals Castle of Illusion HD But There's No Mention of Nintendo Versions
Disappointing but thankfully I have a 360.
Re: Review: Witch & Hero (3DS eShop)
The combat sounds like Ys Book I & II. I think I'll just sick with that.
Re: Feature: Ten SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis Games We Want on the Wii U Virtual Console

Re: Review: NAM-1975 (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
If you liked Wild Guns (a great SNES game that's also on the VC), then you'll like NAM-1975. I'll have to download this one eventually.
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Eleven
Final Fantasy V and VII. Been playing these two all week and will continue to do so this weekend.
Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines Cancelled on Wii U
This is one game that the Wii U didn't need anyways.
Re: Nintendo Download: 4th April 2013 (North America)
A Neo-Geo game that's not a fighting game and a good one at that? Finally. I liked Wild Guns so I'll have to download Nam eventually.
Re: No Battlefield 4 For Wii U Because DICE Wants To "Play It Safe"
Oh well. If I wanted so badly I could just get it on Xbox.
Re: Harvest Moon Heading to North American 3DS eShop in Late April
Games coming to the 3DS VC that aren't NES games? Finally.
Re: Ubisoft Not Disappointed With Wii U Install Base
"And they need the installed base to gain more support, which is not the case yet,..."
Hopefully once some more big games start coming, that will get the ball rolling.
Re: Review: Forgotten Legions (DSiWare)
Good grief those graphics blow. Looks like something from the SNES.
Re: Ecco The Dolphin Creator Launches Kickstarter For Spiritual Sequel, Wii U Version A Possibility
Never cared for the Ecco series so I'll most likely pass on this if it does get released.
Re: Fez Creator Believes Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is More Suited To Vita

Re: Wii U Version Of Dead Island: Riptide "Not Worth It", Says Deep Silver
That type of game doesn't look like it would be worth it for me anyway.
Re: Another Castle Hits Its Kickstarter Goal
A platformer with a random level generator? I'll keep my eye on it.
Re: Punch Out!! Available To Download on Wii U Now in North America
Best game offered so far. Anybody who doesn't have it yet really needs to get it if they have a Wii U. One of the all-time classics.
Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines Seems To Have Been Abducted From The Wii U
The Metacritic scores for all available versions of the game are in the 40's, so the Wii U not getting this game wouldn't be much of a loss unlike some of the other third party games like Tomb Raider that aren't coming.
Re: Review: Wild Guns (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
I'd give this one an 8. Great game but it's pretty short.
Re: Review: Star Parodier (Wii Virtual Console / TurboGrafx-16)
The game that got me into Shumps. A hidden gem.
Re: Review: Wrecking Crew (3DS eShop / NES)
Agree with the score. One of the better "black box" NES games.
Re: Review: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (3DS)
Really hate how they've westernized this series. Was hoping for a SOTN style game for the 3DS. Guess I'll just look for one of the DS games.
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Nine
I'll be playing some Minecraft, NSMBU and Retro City Rampage. I'll probably play a couple of random games as well.
Re: Team Meat: We'd Work With Nintendo If Meat Boy Made It Into Smash Bros.

@Sun Agreed. Doesn't look like much of a HD game.

Not too surprising since it's EA doing it.
Re: Two Tribes: Toki Tori 2 Is A Metroidvania-Style Experience
Oh heck yes. Loved Symphony of the Night (haven't had a chance to play any of the others sadly) so this should be great.

Re: Review: Yoshi (3DS eShop / NES)
Excellent review. Agree with the score. Just a decent timewaster nothing more, nothing less.
Re: Cliff Bleszinski Sees A Future Where Nintendo Is Out Of The Hardware Business
I highly doubt that Nintendo is going to leave the hardware business anytime soon, but we'll see I guess.
Re: Review: Dig Dug (3DS eShop / NES)
Great game but I'll pass since I already have a portable version for the PSP, and it's a perfect port of the arcade version unlike this one.

Re: Sony Trolls Nintendo Ahead of PlayStation 4 Announcement
Well in all fairness we got quite a few Mario games last year and even more announced for this year.
Re: Review: Castlevania (3DS eShop / NES)
Great game. One of the better NES games out there.
Re: Review: Metal Slug 4 (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
This one's alright, but it's my second least favorite Metal Slug game (6 is my least favorite). It felt like more of the same.
