Re: Nintendo Is Apparently Not Involved In The New Switch DRM Initiative

ThePizzaCheese

@sanderev
Yes, I copy all my games myself.
And please don't assume that everyone online lives in the US. Circumventing copy protection to copy games I own is legal in my country.

People copying their own games isn't that uncommon, so please don't just generalize emulation as stealing.

Furthermore, there are emulators that do read from actual cartridges/discs.

Re: New Denuvo 'Switch Emulator Protection' Tech Launches, And Players Are Worried

ThePizzaCheese

@Richnj If everyone got the game free then the developer wouldn't get paid for their work. And if they don't get paid then games don't get made. See how that works?

I didn't say piracy doesn't equate to lost sales, I said that current DRM doesn't increase sales. Theres a difference.

Just because something is "harmless" doesn't mean it's not morally wrong. Again, justice is a big part of morality.

1. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you are trying to say, the way you write is very difficult to understand. I can't tell if you are accusing me of something or not. All the games I emulate are legally purchased and copied.

2. First of all, guns don't kill, people do. But second, my point was that making things illegal doesn't make a difference to criminals anyways. It hurts legal players because they don't have decent games to buy now, but I see your point about voting with your wallet.

3. I didn't say developers aren't hurt by piracy, just that they're smart enough to know DRM doesn't solve the issue. But how does DRM expose pirates anyway? And what does that do to stop them?

Re: New Denuvo 'Switch Emulator Protection' Tech Launches, And Players Are Worried

ThePizzaCheese

@Wexter Yeah I get that, but I wish people would be more specific with their chose of words. Many of the comments here generalize emulation as piracy, which can hurt legal emulation's reputation.

What makes DRM so frustrating is that it just ends up hurting legal players since pirates will just crack it anyway. Kinda like how banning guns just disarms the innocent.

Although, ultimately, publishers know that DRM doesn't stop piracy. It's just there to reassure investors who don't understand how games work and just want to be assured they'll get their money back. It's just business I guess.

Re: New Denuvo 'Switch Emulator Protection' Tech Launches, And Players Are Worried

Why are people assuming all emulation is for piracy? It isn't.

I play a lot of games I've legally purchased and copied myself using emulation. A big part of that is for accessibility. My vision is pretty poor so I struggle with handled screens a lot, even on something like 3DS XL. Emulating lets me actually play the games I've paid for.

Plus, its nice to have all my games on one platform without having to re-buy everything every generation (assuming they're even available).

The fact is a lot of older consoles are dying and the games just aren't being made available for newer platforms. We're getting to the point where emulation is the only way the play some of the older games people own. This isn't an issue for switch right now, but it will be someday.

It's literally mentioned in this article that his heritage is part of the controversy. It's been mentioned before too.

Plus it's not like Martinet is the first person to voice Mario either. Other actors have done a great job playing him too. It's not like Martinet can voice him forever.

And come on, Martinet's voice just isn't suited for a film. Do you really want to listen to this for 2 hours? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sI1Mu4Ee_c8

Re: Talking Point: Should Sonic Frontiers Be Delayed? We Discuss Its Bizarre Debut And Fan Reaction

ThePizzaCheese

@Bolt_Strike
Sure there weren't many complaints about Colors and Generations, but there was a ton for Forces and the Colors rerelease. Even when Sega gives people EXACTLY what they asked for people still complain. Forces wasn't any different then Generations, the fact that you think is was kinda just proves my point.

Of course not every single single Sonic game is a copy, but you can't deny Generation has roots to Mario. The whole boost mechanic thing comes from Sonic rush on the DS, which was made to copy Mario Bros. Also, Sonic Boom was developed by an external studio and published by Nintendo, so it really doesn't have much to do with Sega at all.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sonic Frontiers Be Delayed? We Discuss Its Bizarre Debut And Fan Reaction

ThePizzaCheese

Please, Sonic has been "disappointing" people for over 20 years now. When are people going to realize that the Sonic franchise just isn't what they think it is? What exactly do they think it's suppose to be? Another 06, unleashed, lost world, or forces? People hated those too. Even the Colors rerelease was panned.

And don't forget that Sonic games have always intentionally copied Nintendo. Sonic 1 copied Mario Bros, Adventure copied Mario 64, Unleashed copied Twilight Princess, Colors copied NSMB, and Lost World copied Mario Galaxy. We shouldn't be surprised that they're copying BoTW now too. BoTW really isn't very "Zelda" like either,. but it was a fun new direction for the franchise. Frontiers can be the same way for Sonic.

The fact is that Sonic is whatever Sega says it is. It's never been meant to be taken too seriously anyway. Just enjoy it for what it is and have fun.

Re: New Footage From Kirby's Cancelled GameCube Game Emerges

ThePizzaCheese

@link3710
It sort of depends on what you count as a "cancelled" game I guess. Really what happened was that there were three prototype iterations before they landed on Return to Dreamland. Two of those prototypes were indeed for GameCube, but I'm not sure it's fair to call them "cancelled" since they were really just part of RtDL's development.

Other than that there was also Roll-O-Rama, a follow up to Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, that was later changed to a generic non-kirby game before being scrapped altogether.

Well as someone who likes to consider themselves to be a reasonable adult myself, I for one find the use of the word to be offensive. In my opinion a reasonable adult would be considerate enough not to use language that could offend other people or make fun of them for finding it offensive. That's called having manners.

Re: Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Dev Would "Love" To Bring The Game To Switch

ThePizzaCheese

@Koda1000
This a good point, but I feel like most of the audience for these games probably bought a Wii U. The Wii U versions sold just about as well as any other Zelda release despite Wii U's poor sales. If there was really an audience for them than they probably would have done them instead of Skyward Sword.

Also, if these comments are any indication, then it doesn't sound like most people are willing to spend full price for them anyway. Nintendo doesn't want to sell "budget" games, they want to be seen as a company with the "premium" experience. Plus, cheaper games ultimately cut into the sales for big budget games too.

Re: Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Dev Would "Love" To Bring The Game To Switch

ThePizzaCheese

I really doubt either of these games are going to be ported anytime soon. BOTW2 is coming early next year (probably a March release along with a new system, similar to the first game), releasing another Zelda this close would be a total waste.

Not to mention that releasing it this summer would pit it against Xenoblade 3, which would hurt sales for both games. A Christmas release would be more likely, but it would be WAY too close to BOTW2 at that point.

Plus I'd kinda think both those games would be a big draw for a potential GameCube service for NSO.
