Nice! But could you guys please make a "Top" list on this site as well? Your reviews are nice, but they are also very plentiful... That's a problem when you just want to find out which the very best games are!
Yeah, Minish Cap is probably good. And freaking Advance Wars! Still, Wario Ware and Fusion still shine regardless of what the other games are! I think at least 1 or 2 of the secret games won't dissapoint us though! At least 1 will.
@kurtasbestos The thing I like about video game music is that it doesn't get as old as regular music when repeated! The DS-user didn't just only stick to "true" chiptune though. He prefers to call it "electronic rock," and I guess it's a lot like that. Sounds very 8-bitish though. His name is Snild Dolkow, so you can google that and judge for yourself what you think!
There was a Video Game themed series of concerts in the city Malmö a while back, out of which 2 were chiptune acts. One with Korg-10 DS as his weapon of choice! The rock band Powerplay were the best of the bunch though, with their rockin' covers of the NES greats... Anyway, this Rytmik appeals to me, since I want to make music, but lack the know-how. And I figure that starting with such basic sounds might be a good idea!
This BS. WHY? Because the big N is all about backwards compatibility! Making the 3DS control scheme obsolete in less than a year from launch makes no sense! xD
To be fair, there are a lot of great independent titles for smartphones. Develop cheap, sell cheap is the way it goes. With a lot of opportunities for taking risks without risking much, developers aren't afraid of to try fresh and new ideas! Of course Nintendo does this as well, but they can only focus on so many projects, considering how big bugets they use. Their games CAN'T fail, or they'll lose a lot of money. Nintendo plays with higher stakes, simply put.
@Late Good for you! Really. But I believe Nintendo might be angry with me if I do so! Or something... It's more the neglection that angers me than missing out on rewards. Plus, with localized titles not having the cards in their boxes, there aren't too many coins to collect. :/
Eugh, I didn't even know you got coins for paid downloads... Why would I, since Sweden doesn't get anything?! None of the Scandinavian countries do, as far as I know. Sigh, I guess I'll drown my sorrows in our overall extensive welfare....
This was such a nice suprise after returning home from my vacation! I expected SOME update after being without an internet connection for so long, but this just made me happy for so many reasons... 1. Free games! 1.5. They're good ones. 2. More people will get a 3DS= More people to play with! 3. Some of the games were GBA titles, which probably means we'll get more GBA games later!
Hopefully, the 3DS can be used as a controller. After all, it does have most of the controller inputs! I don't know if there will be delay or not when you use wi-fi for controller to console communication though...
Crytek is owned by EA, who has hinted (read: vowed) to give their support! And with EA seemingly breaking up with Steam, future EA games I buy may very well be Wii U titles!
I've had a great time playing GOW with my 360 owning friend, and I'd love to have it to play online with my friends! Bulletstorm would be cool, too. But old ports isn't the main attraction here however, but the future releases. Obviously.
Iwata seems to be taking the 3DS's moderate success seriously, so I hope that Nintendo will get serious about stuff like this! I'm looking forward to it anyway!
Wii U is nice, really. It opens up new possibilities for gameplay, which is what I want from a new console. I praise Nintendo for this great innovation!
Giving players random suprises is a big part of 3DS's functionality, no? I always enjoyed it when my Wii began to shine blue... Of course a lot of times it just meant I had received messages to my message board, but after turning them off most messages have been of importance!
I love Valve's games, they've pretty much made no bad game to date! But Steam on a PC is how they were meant to be played. If Valve would develop games that worked as well on consoles as on a computer, then maybe...
Interesting to see Nintendo bringing some original content, and for free, too. Me: But why not give us Zelda cartoons? Big N: Well excuuuuuse us, princess. Me: Point taken. Then what about Mario? Big N: Bagel. Me: Oh, right.
@7 The problem isn't about price, really. It's about Nintendo seing this as some kind of way to combat piracy or something stupid like that! ... Now if you excuse me, I'm going over to Kotaku to deliver some swearing.
Give me the Melee physics, please! Dx I can't bear the floating of Brawl... I like to believe that it's one of the reasons I hardly play Brawl. That, and the stupid, easy character unlocking! I now that childhood nostalgia clouds my mind, but surely character unlocking was much more rewarding in Melee? Can anyone not bound by the chains of nostaliga confirm this for me? ^ o ^
One of my Wii VC titles that I actually played some... The 3D version is superior, but I appreciate that the reviewer didn't give in to nostalgia and rated it a 9 or something. A 7 is very suitable!
Aww yeah... It's games like this that will justify the purchase a 3DS! I'm looking forward to this, Maro Kart, RE: Revelations och MGS: Snake Eater at the moment. This'll be the year that 3DS releases pick up the pace!
External hard drive= awesome. As long as the file support is good this could function as a media player, with a greeeeaaat controller! Seriously, if they do this right the Wii U could function as an HTPC! One thing is for sure... I'll be getting myself a flat screen tv with full HD resolution next year.
OMG!!!! I'm gonna watch the live stream though, but I'll check in NL as well, for exchange of impressions etc.! After all, we have a great community here!
Excitebike is awesome, even better than on Wii! But now I want to catch up on DSiWare... Is there no compilation or list of different DSiWare reviews? That's right, I'm asking YOU, Nintendolife! As the best source of Nintendo e-ware reviews on the web, I think it's your duty to help us all with your awesome powers!
@SanderEvers It most likely will not be... It would be nice, but unlikely. Why? Because Wii 2 is supposed to be backward compatible with wiimotes, which use bluetooth for connection. 3DS doesn't have bluetooth! It's very unlikely that you would be able to connect controllers both via bluetooth and wi-fi. 3DS and Wii 2 will probably be able to interact a lot though!
Please make it download, please make it download... And please fill it with different modes and online compatibility! Playing against others online can be really fun, as long as you don't have to play against bots all the time, like in Tetris Battle.
Woh woh woh..! "Free or 1 month?" I'm about to say something foul directed to Nintendo, but this site is too family friendly for it. I'll just go to Kotaku, then.. Edit Waaiit... Does it mean you only get to keep it for a month (could be, we all know our 3D video is going to disappear) or is it free only to those who download it before 7th July? I'm so confused... Help?
@29 My most recent experience with violent children was about a year ago, but that was an intensive one. Kids (only the boys though) were hurting each other all the time! Their biggest inspiration? Star Wars: The Clone Wars...Which is rated 7+ in most countries, I believe. One of them told me that he had played GTA, too. Yet it was fighting with sticks that was cool, not pretending to rob and shoot people! xD I agree that parental supervision is the best thing for the kids! There's nothing as effective to stop violent play as an adult stepping in. @30 I think it's about peer pressure - It's the things that are hot among kids that they're going to imitate. Not the thing that is the most violent! I had friends who played Counter Strike, for crying out loud! Yet I never played it, in real life or in game. I remember playing with sticks, mostly. Ah, finding a perfect one was sooo rewarding... As for real swords, I still want one... Slicing veggies could become a real hobby!
It's probably gonna be a remake of a Zelda game a bit newer than Ocarina... Here's to hoping that it'll be Windwaker! Just imagine all that cellshaded glory in 1080p! Xd
Yes, oh YES! Recapture me now, in front of everyone! You know I like violence, and other stuff! Like a huuuge resolution which shoots awesome graphics at my eyes..! But really, please go for the hardcore gamers this time around. I'm sick of Wii Sports and other casual games! x(
Well, I download games from Steam all the time, and I'm pretty happy with that! Lots of good deals... But paying full price without getting a packaging, manual or other stuff? Noooo waaaayy!!! Keep the pricerange within my Steam-budget-limits (maximum 15 €/game) and I'll consider it.
I want a decent Tetris! With a few extra game modes to boot... And freakin' online play! WITHOUT having to play against bots, like in Tetris Battle on facebook. .' And yeah, good possibilities for Indie developers! The 3DS offers some interesting tools, now let people try them out, and it will probably result in something magnificent!
@Token_Girl You'll probably be able to watch it later, you could last year... But if you're looking for descrete live updates, then you can count on NL! Right...? On another note, the time seems perfect for me! 6 PM, sweet evening entertainment!
Eugh. This looks like such a promising title, but I just KNOW that there will be some kind of deal breaker, like a lack of replayability due to lack of game modes, online compability etc.

Re: Games Do More Damage Than Passive Smoking, says Doctor
I like to believe that it's all about the magical age when kids learn to seperate fiction from real life! That happens at different ages for different individuals, but when kids stop playing with their imagination they are usually about 12. That's when they know that doing things in games is ok, but doing them in real life is dangerous and bad. It doesn't matter if you feed them Pokémon or Ninja Gaiden, they're still going to try to recreate the characters actions in real life! And hitting someone else with a stick is going to be the same, regardless if it was inspired by Ryu's sword or Marowak's bone club! Letting kids play games where you shoot each other is probably safer, since the recreation of that doesn't actually involve hitting each other! It's all done with aiming guns and making noises... Assuming you don't give them bb guns. But then you're just a bad parent, considering how that's dangerous, games or no games!
