Why is it questionable to include Simon's Quest? Easily my favorite of the 8-bit NES era. Even if you don't like it, would be questionable to NOT include.
@Homerman76 Fair enough, I was just giving them the benefit of the doubt I guess. I've actually never played Cuphead. I mostly just took notice because I love golden age animation. I wish someone would use that style in an RPG or adventure game or something.
Considering Cuphead was completely indebted to 1920-30's animation, I feel like anyone else can use that as an art style without being called a ripoff (even though Cuphead did it first). Having said that, this still looks....not great. The sprite animations are stiff, and they look tacked onto the backgrounds somehow. Maybe it will improve by release.
@Oh_Well @Bass_X0 I was actually talking about the jump right before Mechaturtle in stage 3. Am I the only one that had trouble there? I think I cleared it one time, only to get destroyed by Mechaturtle because I wasn't prepared for a boss fight.
@Not_Soos 100% agree! It was the first game i ever got (not including SMB) on NES back in the day, and it's still one of my favorite games of all time. It was so mysterious back then. I spent countless hours exploring and finding secrets. I don't think I've been more immersed in a game ever.
I remember liking this, but getting kind of burned out on all the dark cave environments. Maybe I didn't get far enough...
Edit: I don't get the Final Fantasy Tactics comparison either. Art is different, perspective is different, gameplay is different.
I don't understand all the hate for the title. It's simple, memorable, and actually describes the game in a way. Would people prefer a super long, convoluted title like so many Japanese games seem to have? (I do love those sometimes) No one seems to have a problem with silly things like Castlevania, Dragon Quest, Mega Man, etc.
Zelda 2 was a huge letdown when it came out (I was like 8, and couldn't get very far). Now, it's strangely charming. However, maybe it deserves to win the poll just because it was so poorly balanced. What other Zelda do people even have to cheat just to see the ending? I don't know, I still love it.
@Goat_FromBOTW I agree that he looks like a baby. Like when an infant is just born, and they're all pink and crying. Exactly like that. Maybe that's why people like him though. Because they actually enjoy looking at newborn babies in some kind of demented way. I don't know, I'm just trying to figure this out!

Re: Gallery: My Goodness, Superdeluxe's Castlevania Anniversary Collection Is Proper Lush
@Jucksalbe I have the soundtracks for Castlevania 1 and 2 and can confirm that they are 12 and 9 tracks respectively. Not sure about the other ones.

Re: Poll: Is It Finally Time For Castlevania To Rise Again?
Simon's Quest style. Should be an option.
Re: Talking Point: Is It Time For HD-2D To Take A Break?
If you're tired of something, you should take a break from it. Not request that it take a break from you, and everyone else in the world.
Re: Review: Metal Slug Tactics (Switch) - A Good Shot At Trying Something New
I feel like most strategy games don't let you move after taking an action. Am I wrong?
Re: Feature: Zelda, "Linguistic Chaos", And The Challenges Of Bringing 'Outer Wilds' To Switch
If you're going to use the term "Metroidbrainia" that means that there is a "Castlebrainia" in existence, and I really want to know more about that.

Re: Octopath Traveler II's Newest Character Trailer Is Absolutely Gorgeous
I had to turn the sound off immediately because of that voice actor.
Re: Best Of 2022: From Chrono Trigger To Super Mario RPG, The Varied Influences Of Sea Of Stars
Note to self: Don't make a JRPG, everyone is too old and tired to play them these days.
Re: Feature: 30 Changes We'd Like To See In The Next Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Update
You'll get nothing and still buy the next game.
Re: River City Girls 2 Gives Marian From 'Double Dragon' A Big Buff In New Trailer
She looks just like Noi from Dorohedoro.
Re: Feature: What The Heck Is A 'MetroidBrainia'? Introducing The Newest Genre On The Block
Since we're just taking an unrelated genre and inserting the word brain, what about calling them brain 'em ups? Or first person brainer?

Re: Konami Announces Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection For Switch
Now we can all rewind until we get past that one sewer jump part in TMNT (NES).

Triangles are awesome. Strategy is awesome. What's not to like?
Re: Poll: Paper Mario Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch Online, Will You Be Playing It?
@SnesSwitch I read both your comments in a Fabio/Tommy Wiseau sort of voice. Is that accurate?

Re: Netflix's Witcher Season 2 Trailer Has War, Magic, Yennefer, Ciri, And An Evil House
The problem with the show is that they made Geralt too sexy and all the sorceress' not sexy enough.
Re: Soapbox: What Makes A Game A Good Metroidvania Anyway?
So is Zelda a "metroidvania"? It seems to check most of the boxes.
