Re: Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection To Be Delisted Just Two Years After Release

@electrolite77 @FredBiletnikoff @Yomerodes well, I guess I was mistaken. Every instance I've read about this claimed you had to do a full system transfer. My bad, but that still doesn't detract from what I previously said about accessibility when it comes to digital only games. If Nintendo shuts down online access to the eShop on Switch platforms, there'd be no way to access those games again. It's what happened on the Wii, Wii U, DSi, and 3DS. Even if you owned them, if your console was damaged, there'd be no real way to recover them.

@FredBiletnikoff and you can't use your account on another console without a full system transfer. You can't just log into your account through a new console and have full access to your library, it's one of the many ways Nintendo is behind the other two when it comes to a universal account system. It also doesn't help that they change their account system completely every other console generation.

So many digital only defenders in the comments going "i CaN dOwNlOaD iT wHeNeVeR" like that's actually a defense. If your Switch bricks, you're SOL. If your account takes a hit, for whatever reason, you lose access. The entire point of physical is that you will forever have that tangible thing in your hand, and if your hardware takes goes, you will still be able to play the game if you replace it. The entire point is eternal availability, and when a game is taken off a digital platform, that's it, it's (hypothetically) gone forever. Nobody cares if YOU already bought it, the point is that everyone should be able to buy it AT ALL TIMES.

Also, so many of your are missing the point about preservation, especially considering LRG touts itself as a champion of it, producing stuff with gamers in mind. Literally nothing they've done from day one has followed through on that, between the FOMO, the limited availability, timed release windows, and now even timed availability. That's on top of the shady stuff they do behind the scenes, like the money laundering.

Re: Talking Point: Metroid Prime 4 And The Burden Of Being 'Good Enough'

@metaphysician the bare minimum of engagement. Dodging attacks and blowing up gribbles to get more resources is video game 101, it isn't anything unique to bosses in this game. I had no trouble surviving any of these bosses while tanking hits, hell, I barely lost more than an entire health tank the duration of the game. There was no impetus for me to try to actually use my brain to fight any of the bosses, it was less than trivial how lacking in any kind of strategy they were to defeat.

"its boss fights stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best the series has ever produced."

Did we play the same game? Prime 4's bosses were laughably bad compared to prior outings. Every other game in the franchise forces you to think on your feet and each boss fight was more of a puzzle you had to solve by utilising specific abilities and your environment to overcome. Prime 4's bosses were just blobs you had to tank to beat without any thought about doing anything more. It's incredibly representative of the game at large, how everything is just the bare minimum to get by as a decent standalone game and a weak Metroid game.

This WAS easily a 7/10 for me, but got knocked down to a 6/10 (maybe even a 5) after the weak ending.

@Flashlink99 probably because it was essentially a tech demo for the Joycons and should've just been a free pack-in with the console similarly to Wii Sports and Nintendo Land. The fact that they tried to pawn it off as a full fledged release at retail is the main reason most people have zero respect for it. If it was a free novelty game, you'd probably have a lot more positive opinions of it.

@BooJoh Wait, what's BBB?

Also, I reached out to Amazon support and the spiel they gave me was that it's an unforseen issue that they're escalating to a higher level of support and for me to wait 24 to 48 hours to see if anything changes. It's been 24, so after tomorrow I'll be sure to poke them again.

This is like the second or third time Amazon tried screwing me out of a pre-order code. Last time was for Monster Hunter Stories 2, and I had to go directly to Capcom to get it resolved, which thankfully they did. All I needed was a proof of purchase. It's a shame Nintendo isn't doing the same.
