Anyway yes, Nintendo deserves it. Their build quality has been on a downward slope ever since DS (I got one with a dead pixel) and 3DS (the stupid hinge broke from regular use, and the controller's rubber grip fell off at one point too – and I wasn't even playing Super Smash!).

I have nothing but good thing to say about GBA SP build quality on the other hand (I have two).

@Trajan Not sure about the details, I'm only familiar with the most famous names like Zuckerberg, that Sergey dude, I also know about Alphabet and a few other bits one picks up here and there. Obviously there's much more to it than that. Why do you ask?

Not that unusual for students to be politically active as far as I know (nothing illegal about it), does not make anybody a "spy" automatically. So were those communist party student representatives actually doing anything (beating people up, jailing them, reading your phone over your shoulder, anything interesting), or is it more like "president of the class" role?

People ask such questions regardless, I was asked similar questions by grannies selling baozi. It's just a topic of interest. I doubt they ran off to their party HQ and furiously typed a 200 page report about you after the dinner. And even if they did, nobody would read it anyway. Maybe that's what would have happened in 60s, but people are too busy with other things nowadays. Touching their phone, for example.

Did you read that on stupid BBC or something? That is not true, at least not in the company I worked for (100 % Chinese except me as far as I know).

The government, in turn, was trying to stop spreading rumors and panicking (they have a few of these zombie apocalypse things happening every year after all) – easier than banning disgusting practices and stupid stuff I guess.

So what should have Tencent done? Disobeyed the government?

Anyway I watched half of the video and there's nothing out of the ordinary there as far as big corporations go (it's almost a typical "big business" story, stuff that we all sadly accept as granted), I stopped watching at the part where the presenter puts her own interpretation on the word "propaganda" (she does not know what the word means) and spectacularly fails to grasp what the "Clap for Xi" is (or maybe she's too subtle and I missed it).

Can you point me to the exact part where Tencent's crimes are presented?

@Geonjaha if we're bringing in CCP, evil, China (I'm still waiting for Epic) and so on here, I think I score pretty low on the whataboutism scale here.

Seems people like to hate Tencent. …they're not that bad really.

It'd be interesting to see how many people would complain if these dudes were bought by Facebook or Google and were subject to some restructuring as part of the deal (Tencent did not demand that).

@Kriven I see, well, same here. To me it's so frustrating because I have a few acquaintances that keep their cartridges basically under their bed / fridge (not really but close) and all their games just work. I, on the other hand, try to keep my games in good shape and yet… look what happens.

Maybe I'm just unlucky but still, it can and does happen. I mean if it didn't happen to me personally I would also find it hard to believe. A quick look online confirms this is indeed rare (judging by threads on GameFAQs and Reddit). Anyway physical is not eternal (and digital has its own problems) is all I'm saying.

@Kriven I'm really happy for you that your cartridges work fine. Some of my cartridges don't anymore (note I'm not saying all of my cartridges stopped working, just a few – but still, a few too many considering I parted with my hard earned to get them!), and believe me when I tell you that I took all reasonable measures to keep them in good shape. No, I am not a collector and I did not keep my cartridges / discs locked in a cabinet but I also never treated them roughly or kept them in a moldy basement or anything like that.

But fair enough, I guess you won't believe that cartridges and discs can stop working unless it happens to you personally. Maybe I'm some silly dude that plays frisbee with his discs or uses cartridges as tea cup coasters or something.

@Azuris …as absolutely everybody knows. But to repeat: the contacts are worn out, not dirty. It can be seen with naked eye.

@KingMike What you're saying is probably statistically true but not in my case. For example the top layer of my GC Super Smash disc just started peeling off, the disc is not scratched at all (edit: the bottom side that is). I never dropped it, sat on it, improperly stored it, nothing. It just fell apart.

@Kriven Are you trying to say I was not taking care of my cartridges – how in the world did you manage to obtain this brilliant insight? If by that you mean "you played them a lot so the contacts got worn out" than fair enough.

@Gwynbleidd Because physical copies last forever? Like for example my pile of non working cartridges or Gamecube discs that can not be read.

Edit: just to clarify, I'm not advocating digital, far from it.
