Re: Red Steel 2 Blunted After Poor UK Chart Debut

OldBoy

@Luigi-La-Bouncy Yeah me too.I'm finding myself playing my 360 or VC and even DS more than Wii recently. i've got young toddler so when gaming time comes around I've had enough of swinging my arms about. When gaming all that I wanna move is my mouth for beer and cigs and my thumbs for shooting s**ff. I suppose when my kids are older the Wii will be more fun but deep down I'm just a lazy git!

Re: Red Steel 2 Blunted After Poor UK Chart Debut

OldBoy

What people need to bear in mind in all this is that we are in a bad time economically. For many a £30-45 investment in a game is a chunk of money. With so many people owning multiple consoles theres never any reason to play anything other than AAA titles with games like RS2 being relegated to rentals or when the price drops which happens so quick in the UK that is really pointless to buy any game on release.I bought Madworld today from play for £3.99 YES!! £3.99 its a cool game but theres not a chance in hell I would of paid £30 for it .Unfortunatley for games companies there just gonna have to get used to the fact that unless there is a big hype machine and marketing budget for a game its never gonna sell that good at release but will probably sell quite well in the end for a lower price.Maybe they should just sell em for £20 straight away!

Re: First Impressions: Cave Story

OldBoy

I downloaded this for PC but didn't like the keyboard controls. I've been looking forward to the WW release for ages,as what I did play on PC was really great.I'll pay whatever they want, just release the bloody game will ya Nintendo!!

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo Need to Exercise More Quality Control on the Wii?

OldBoy

@Rex Errr but the Wii has sold the most this generation so I fail to see how its affected Nintendos image at all. Never in all my gaming years have I ever heard so many people talk about Nintendo from all ages and backgrounds than this gen. Nintendo has never been so popular than it currently is.
As for shovelware, people who blindly buy games based on the fact that it has 'Family' in the title and some crappy cover art deserve all they get IMO. There is more than enough access to various media scources in order to make an informed decision these days so there is really no excuse for buying crap games anymore. As for Nintendo they will not be bothered what sells well on their console as long as their first party games are up there, shovelware profits are still profits.

Re: New Trademark for Eternal Darkness

OldBoy

Great game. Unfortunatly I think that rather than a new game Nintendo is just protecting the name and trademark so the game can't appear on another console. I'd like to be proven wrong but I won't be getting my hopes up

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo Need to Exercise More Quality Control on the Wii?

OldBoy

@Bass XO Spot on . I was just about to write the exact same thing. It really annoys me that people still think that the seal meant a guarantee of quality. There was some terrible games for the NES, SNES etc. As if Nintendo are going to start quality control. It ain't gonna happen. Its like saying Sony should stop people making bad films so they don't get played on one of their blue ray players!! Nicely written article but unfortunatley absolutley pointless.

Re: Review: Intellivision Lives! (GameCube)

OldBoy

Nice review Sean Thanks. No EU release means I won't be getting this but I do have an intellivision in the loft with 20+ games that I got from a car boot as a kid for a fiver . I got a lot of enjoyment out of it when I was younger and this seems like a good compilation. You gotta love those controllers, 16 directions!!! Way ahead of it's time

Re: Nintendo Download: 05-06 2010 (Japan)

OldBoy

Well after enjoying the train in Spirit Tracks recently I'd probably download Boku wa Plarail Untenshi. Looks fun!! And yes Stevie you can control the windscreen wipers and who knows if your any good I might even let you run the Buffet Cart . Shame we'll probably never see these games over here.G.G. Series: Dark Spirits looks great.

Re: Aonuma: Prepare for Zelda Surprise Next Year

OldBoy

[quoteMachu]How did I know you'd mention Fallout 3.

[/quote]

Sorry dude, It's getting boring now right .
I just think it's time to let us explore Hyrule or wherever at our own pace and feel more like a living world. To me TP was a step back in this regard.Sure the towns were full of people but you couldn't talk to half of them and the ones that did talk seemed to have no personality IMO. I think Majora's Mask was a step in the right direction and would like to at least see something along those lines

Re: Aonuma: Prepare for Zelda Surprise Next Year

OldBoy

Good!! I think the Zelda format is getting stale now and it's time for a shake up.Twilight Princess bored the pants off me TBH. I hope in this new one that the world is far more organic and less structured than in previous titles.Something akin to Fallout 3 would be cool whereby you could tackle the story in many different ways and make important decisions that can alter the game world. Can't wait to here what they've come up with. I can't understand why people wouldn't want change,we may as well just keep playing OOT or ALTTP otherwise.

Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)

OldBoy

WOW. Can't wait for this now. Gonna have to wait till xmas though as I've got a big backlog of games that I promised I'd finish before getting this. but............it's so hard to resist, damn Corbie and his 10's

Re: WiiWare Demo Service Now Available!

OldBoy

OMG!!!....demos?.......downloadable?..........Free?...........well thank **** for that.Welcome to the 21st century Nintendo. Now could we get the same for Wii retail games please.............no?...........ahh well.........maybe in ten years eh?

Re: Easy Piano DS With Keyboard Peripheral Announced

OldBoy

Actually if this turns out to be ok I could probably have a lot of fun with this.I love tinkering with little instruments. I play my toddlers little keyboard and ukulele all the time Lets face it any musical instruments fun with a bit of imagination. Not saying I would buy it full price though

Re: Black Wii Unboxed Before Your Very Eyes!

OldBoy

Hmm.I did want one of those but having seen the smudges its got just from unpacking it that thing would drive me crazy. Don't think it would look too good with my daughters handprints all over it.

Re: Talking Point: How Does The DSi LL Compare To Rival Handhelds?

OldBoy

IMO these are not aimed at current gamers at all ,this is just another way in which to entice even more people to buy a DS,probably older people or those who only want to use it at home etc. I think it's good that Nintendo is catering to everyone and still actively seeking out fresh custom. For all you people complaining about having just bought a DSi ,I understand your perspective but this is an insignificant upgrade and after the initial 5 min wow factor of the larger screens it would not make any difference to your playing experience except tired wrists . I just hope that this dosen't mean that a superpowered DS is now futher away than I was expecting, I hope not.

Re: DSi LL Coming To Europe First Quarter 2010

OldBoy

Well I still use my Phat so this is probably not much of a change in size for me (apart from the screens of course!). I won't be getting it myself as I'm perfectly happy with the one I've got and at the end of the day the games are the same but I can see this doing well with the older gamers (50+) for their brain training etc. I really like @Dazza_and_Jamie O's ideas though. Now that would be sweet

Re: Smart Bomb Issue One Now Available

OldBoy

@dimlylitmonkey Hooray another Gamecentral fan. No one else I know reads it but I love their reviews and slightly snobby (though usually correct) view on games, to which they dont let hype get in the way of a true opinion. Glad it ain't going and will still be online after xmas.
Might pick this up just from a collection point of view ,not sure I'll be into the subject to much though. I always did like the N64/NGC magazine though before the day's of t'internet

Re: Spirit Tracks "Pushes DS Even Further" Than Prequel

OldBoy

Well as long as it doesn't have that bloody Time Limit dungeon that you had to keep repeating in PH I'll be happy. That dungeon pretty much killed the game for me. A lazy ,cheap way to extend the gameplay.Shame really as I liked it up to that point. The sailing was far more fun than in WW.I await reviews with anticipation.

Re: Review: Academy of Champions (Wii)

OldBoy

Well having won this game in Nintedolife's competition I've had it a while now and I would probably give it a 5 (but then I'm not a massive BG&E fan ).It's ok but it ain't football. I think there was probably 50% football and 50% waffle, maybe this game would be better for younger players who won't notice the huge flaws as much (maybe!). Having just got Fifa 10 for Xbox let's just say there's only one football game being played in my house. I have a feeling that my copy of AoC might end up on EBay shortly

Re: Review: A Boy and His Blob (Wii)

OldBoy

Great review Corbie ,as always. Another game clamering for my attention. No doubt this will bomb at retail and I'll be able to pick it up for a tenner in 6 months time .Will definetly be checking this one out at some point though.

Re: First Impressions: C.O.P. The Recruit

OldBoy

If its just at least half as good as it looks then I think I'll be purchasing this one ,looks great and cheesy in a good way. Thanks for the preview Prosody.Been wanting to hear a bit more about this game since I seen it at E3.

Re: Official: DSiWare Purchases Cannot Be Transferred to a New Console

OldBoy

To Nintendo, If you can't do DL content properly then don't bother!! I can't beleive they can get away with this policy. I don't think I'll be buying a DSi anytime soon ,i'll stick to my phat. Take a look at what MS are doing with their downloads and learn a lesson in how to look after your customers.Sometimes Nintendo YOU SUCK!!

Re: Review: Kid Klown in Crazy Chase (Super Nintendo)

OldBoy

Never heard of this one before. Shame as it looks really good.Prehaps a sequel could have ironed out the frustrating problems as it sounds like the premise had potential.Ah well, don't suppose there's any chance of a WiiWare sequel ?

Re: Wii Internet Channel Now Free!

OldBoy

Woo hoo. I think the only reason I might download this is because it takes up less room on my precious internal memory. The browser sucks and it sounds like this update dosen't make it any less sucky. I know it's free but honestly why bother when it's this badly done.

Re: Review: Rock N' Roll Climber (WiiWare)

OldBoy

Looks like a great idea for a game lazily executed. Maybe this will give someone the idea to make a more fleshed out version using large locales like the Grand Canyon etc maybe some high altidude climbing in places like the Himalyas, whereby you need breathing equiptment, ice picks, set up camp for the night etc.Could have been good but I ain't gonna bother getting this. Great review though Corbie

Re: Retro Gamer Looks Back at the Virtual Boy

OldBoy

Great read Damo. Thanks . Being in the UK I barely acknowledged the VB at the time. I would love to try one out.Interesting what is said at the end of the article about how they had only scratched the surface of it's capabilites.Has anyone tried to develop anything for it since? I wonder what they could do with it now? Shame the guy was shunned at nintendo he seems like a genius in a way! They should of given him another chance.
