This is..... quite possibly my favorite game of all time. Shinobi III is awesome too, but there's just something about this one.
But I'm sure as hell not downloading the VC version. If I'm buying this game again, it will be the original cartridge, with all the copyright infringements intact.
I first played Sonic on my friend's Genesis. He had that Sega 6-Pack cartridge and of course, the original Sonic was one of the 6 games on it. That was back in '99, or maybe '00. I also remember playing Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast on Windows around that time aswell.
One of my favorite memories was me and my friend playing Sonic R together. We would both select Robotnik and when the race began, we would stockpile rings and try to shoot each other with missiles, lol.
Those were some fun times, but I didn't really get into the series until a couple years later when I picked up both Sonic Mega and Gems collection for the 'Cube.
I had the original cart for this game. But I sold it a few years back, kinda regret that. Compared to the NES game, this version really wasn't all that bad.
That Sonic X-tream video was terrible though. There are much more impressive demos out there that are much closer to what the actual game would have looked like.
Awesome game. It's the one game in the series that I have the most history with and also the only one I have on the Gamecube. I have the rest of the series on PS2.
I bought this game a few years back thinking it was just a straight port of the arcade game. It turned out to be a lot different and I loved it, but I would have still been fairly happy if it was just a straight port.
I might give this a rent. I've always been a fan of Don Bluth's work and I've never really played any of these "games" before.
@11: What the hell was wrong with All Dogs go to Heaven? It wasn't Bluth's best film, but it certainly was far from his worst. But then again, I have a lot a nostalgia for that movie so I guess that might have something to do with it.
I love Rayman 2, but I think I'd rather just get the actual Dreamcast version. Besides, I've already played and beaten this game on both the N64 and PSX anyways.

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii)
It does look nice.... oh well.
Re: Wrap Your Brain Around These CRUSH3D Screens
Looks okay, but I think I'll just stick to the PSP version.
Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword Soars to North America 20th November
I have never bought a Wii game within a week of its release.
I plan for that to change with this game.
Re: Something Bugs Us About This Centipede: Infestation Trailer
Eh, I'll probably give it a rent.
It looks more like something like Alien Syndrome rather than Centipede but what ever.
Re: New Driver Renegade 3D Episode Pulls Up
lol, now that was entertaining, I think I'll keep an eye out for this game.
I really liked the first two Driver games on the Playstation.
Re: Review: Wii Play: Motion (Wii)
Well now that Star Shuttle game sounds interesting, it kinda sounds like Lunar Lander for the Atari.
Re: 3DS Drops to $169.99 from 12th August
This is very good, but I still don't see myself getting one, atleast not this year.
Re: Review: Jagged Alliance (DSiWare)
Seems like an interesting game, but I don't think I would get the DSi version.
Re: Collect These Sonic Generations Screenshots for a Continue
They're bringing back the special stages from Sonic Heroes?
Good God I hated those stages.
Re: If Fans Speak Up, Majora's Mask 3DS Might Happen
Yes!
This is exactly what the 3DS needs; more ports and remakes.
Re: Preview: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
It's looking pretty tight so far.
The combat alone looks leagues better than in Twilight Princess, I just hope at least some of the enemies put up a decent fight this time around.
Re: Fox Flies Into a New Trailer for Star Fox 64 3D
Looks pretty good, kinda sucks there's no online multiplayer though.
But is there still local multiplayer, or did Nintendo cut all that out?
Re: First Impressions: Sonic Generations
Well, Dimps is making this version so I can expect that none of these issues will be fixed
Re: Hopes for CRUSH3D to Launch This Year Have Been Crushed
Crush was really good on the PSP, but I just don't know about this one.
Re: Uncharted Studio: "Wii U is Full of Holes, Nothing Sony Can't Do"
@90
Wow, I think my IQ just dropped a couple points from reading that.
Re: In Case You Missed It, We Have the Shinobi 3DS Trailer
Damnit Sega!
Your making me want to buy a stupid 3DS.
Re: Nintendo Download: 14th July 2011 (North America)
Not a bad update. I wasn't even expecting a VC game.
Re: Review: QIX (Game Boy)
Qix is an arcade classic. I don't know if I'd want the Game Boy version though.
Re: Square Enix's Final Fantasy 3DS Game is a Little Off-Beat
Well this just sounds terrible.
Re: 3D Classics Urban Champion Coming to Brawl on eShop Soon
Urban Champion!?!
Holy crap, now I really do need to get a 3DS.

This is..... quite possibly my favorite game of all time. Shinobi III is awesome too, but there's just something about this one.
But I'm sure as hell not downloading the VC version. If I'm buying this game again, it will be the original cartridge, with all the copyright infringements intact.
Re: Interview: Star Odyssey and The Challenge of Bringing Dead Games Back to Life
I've heared of these guys. I think it's pretty awesome how devoted they are to releasing these old games.
Re: BIT.TRIP COMPLETE Fills Retail Void on 13th September
Oh hell yes. I knew holding off on buying the WiiWare games would eventually pay off.
Re: Review: Sonic Advance (Game Boy Advance)
Very good game. I enjoyed this one a lot more than Sonic Rush.
Never really cared for Sonic Advance 2 though, and I never tried the third one, though it looks a lot better.
Re: RE Mercenaries 3D Save Data Will Not Die
Way to alienate your costumers, CRAPCOM.

@16: Double Dragon III on the NES.
Re: Feature: Sonic: The Nintendo Years - Part Two
I actually kinda liked Sonic & the secret rings from what I've played of it. Perhaps I should pick it up since it's so cheap these days.
Oh, and I still need to get Sonic Colors some time.
Re: Nintendo has no Desire to be Number One in Online Gaming
I never expected Nintendo to offer the best online service. I just wanted them to offer something that felt like it came from the 21st century.
Re: Feature: Sonic: The Nintendo Years - Part One
Great article. I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked Sonic R.
Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd June 2011 (North America)
No Sonic? Not even Double Dragon? ARGH
Oh well, I don't even have a 3DS so I guess it's no big deal.
Re: Feature: The Sonic Games That Never Were
Some very fascinating suff here.
That Sonic X-tream video was terrible though. There are much more impressive demos out there that are much closer to what the actual game would have looked like.
Re: Sony: Wii U is No Threat, Says "Welcome to 2006, Nintendo"
lol, here we go again.
Re: Review: SSX Tricky (GameCube)
Awesome game. It's the one game in the series that I have the most history with and also the only one I have on the Gamecube.
I have the rest of the series on PS2.

Re: New Trailer for Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Lies In Wait
Judging from the trailer, the character designs definitely are a step down from TP (if that's really Zelda then LOL).
Other than that though, this looks legit.
Re: Sonic Generations 3DS & New Shinobi Title Confirmed
A new Shinobi?
oh, oh my
Re: 3DS Virtual Console's First Third Party Games Get Rated
I remember Fortified Zone, but I don't think I've ever played it.
Re: Review: Super Adventure Island (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
Bitchn' soundtrack.
Oh, and I suppose the game isn't too bad either.
Re: Prepare for Dead or Alive with Five Minutes of 3DS Gameplay
Hmm, this actually looks pretty good.
Re: Crush 3D to Flatten Your 3DS
Crush was awesome. I'll definitely pick this up when I get a 3DS (whenever the hell that may be).
Re: ESRB Rating Outs Mega Man 5 for Virtual Console
Well, its about time.
Re: Review: Brawl Brothers (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
I'm such a sucker for beat'em ups, but this one actually looks pretty solid.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th March 2011 (North America)
Wow, that was underwhelming...
Re: Review: Rayman 3D (3DS)
I love Rayman 2, but I think I'd rather just get the actual Dreamcast version. Besides, I've already played and beaten this game on both the N64 and PSX anyways.
Re: Features: The Game Gear Games We Need on 3DS Virtual Console
I would really like to try out the Shining Force games, as well as Panzer Dragoon, didn't even know there was a version on the GameGear.
As for the Sonic games. I actually enjoyed just about all of them on the GameGear, except for Sonic Blast, that game can rot in hell.
Re: Game Gear and TurboGrafx-16 Coming to 3DS Virtual Console
Nice. I like the idea of playing GameGear games without actually playing a GameGear.
Re: Neo Geo Tribute is Suitably Epic, Features Lots of Sexy Hardware
lol, now that was epic.
Re: Cave Story is Coming to 3DS in Full Retail Form
Yeah... I think I'll just stick to the WiiWare version.
