Re: Yooka-Laylee Physical Editions Sell Out In Minutes, One Last Chance To Pre-Order Later Today

@Kriven
It "lacking charm" contort from critics will always baffle me. Rextro himself is the most charming character of the decade. It could use some polishing not going to lie. With that said, if people can forgive the misgivings of countless glitchy open world RPGs than I'm not sure why they can't do the same with a small indie-developed 3D platformer.

The game is clearly a victim of hype and, to this day and age, is the most determining factor for a game's success. If A Hat in Time, a great game BTW, had the hype rested on its shoulders as the "savior" of 3D platformers then it would've been received as unfairly as YL did.

Granted, YL had a higher budget than AHiT (which I have a hunch they used a lot of that money for the bulk of their own infrastructure), but no one takes into account how long AHiT was in development for compared to YL. Not that excuses Playtonic or anything. They definitely should've left it in the oven a bit more, but the fact they made the game as good as it was shows this team still has talent. And they are already on their next game. I'm hyped for whatever they have next, and I can only hope they can knock it out of the park once again.

@mist
Trust me. It's been fixed.

@steventonysmith
Great level design and polish can't save the copius amount of repetitive padding ever to have graced a collectathon. SMO has an excellent main game, but this here is no evolution to the genre. It's bigger step back than DK64 in terms of collecting.

It helps my expectations were low with Yooka Laylee which was developed in a span of 2 years with a small team. YL was consistent whereas Odyssey pulled the rug right out from under me.

Re: Game of the Year: Nintendo Life's Staff Awards 2014

@VolcanoFlamesNL MK8 wasn't a huge disappointment, but it lacked a proper battle mode and the roster sucked. Smash For U is a big disappointment because they sacrificed content for competitive gameplay, but it is not even good at doing that. Project M/Melee is better when it comes to that. It lacks adventure mode, and modes such as Allstar and Classic are repetitive if you played the 3DS version. Other nitpicks include Clonedorf, 3 terrible clones, and the mistreatment of franchises such as F-Zero, Mother, Star Fox, Metroid, and DK. It is a rushed job and is, perhaps, one of the worst Nintendo games I have ever played. IMO.

Bayonetta 2, DKCTF, and Shovel Knight were definitely the best games to come out this year on Wii U. While B2 and DKCTF hardly changed much, they are games you don't get everyday and haven't wore off their freshness, unlike Smash and Kart which have become very boring as time progresses.

Since MK8 and Smash were huge disappointments (especially Smash, yuck), Bayonetta 2, DKCTF, and Shovel Knight were the best overall games this year. I need to play Hyrule Warriors, Shantae, and Wolfenstein. I have no interest in Dragon Age and Shadow of Mordor is definitely not GOTY potential. 2014 kinda sucked.

''I worry about them a little at the moment because I feel as though their habit of treading the same ground again and again is catching up with them in places. I reviewed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, for instance, and that is a game that is technically superior to its predecessor but still feels less essential. I hope that sort of thing remains the exception rather than becoming the rule.''

I don't understand this at all. I swear DK gets the most disrespect from any series I've seen. I don't know how this guy feels about the new 2D Mario games, but if I had a choice between the two it would be DKC. Why in the **** did he single out DK? Sure, DKCTF added very little, but I could say the same for MK8, SSB for Wii U, New SMB series, and DEFINITELY Rayman Legends. All I heard was ''it should have been Metroid'' since it is the only reason why you would hate on this masterpiece.

Have you seen Ghost in the Shell? If you have then you know what I fear. The web is very influential to the point where people lose their sense of self. Sure you have your own opinions, but did you decide that for yourself?

And like I said 3 days in total sales, not a whole week. Yet people scream ''bomb'' because of ignorance. It hasn't been released in the U.S. or U.K. so give it time.

MAN! DK has 2 games in over nearly a decade and people are already tired of it? What did DK do to derserve this? DK is better than most 2D platformers so I don't know where the complaints are coming from other than the people who say ''It isn't Metroid''. Some of you call yourself Nintendo fans and you want this to fail? JEEZUS!

Also note that this doesn't count as a whole week. 3 days worth of total sales.

I only know of the Kotaku article and you refering Diddy as the ''Scrappy Doo'' of the Kongs. Everybody I know prefers him over DK because we all know who the true hero of the series is. Heck, most people who played DKCR killed of DK in 2 player just to play the superior Kong.
