Re: Round Table: Remembering the Nintendo 64

NX01Trekkie1992

@TheDarkness: It's still totally possible to see a rare game, either remake, sequel or new franchise, on the 3DS, since Microsoft doesn't have a competing handheld they do allow Rare to occasionally work on handheld projects for Nintendo, consider the following rumour posted right here back in April: http://3ds.nintendolife.com/news/2011/04/rumour_rare_looking_into_3ds_development
Therefore, it IS possible, just not as likely as we'd like it to be.

But to get back on topic, there are no greater memories of my childhood than Ocarina of Time and Banjo Kazooie, best games EVER

Re: Talking Point: The Role of the N64 on the 3DS

NX01Trekkie1992

I personally say the top three for me would be a pokemon snap remake or sequel (or BOTH), that was the first game I EVER got for ANY system, and it would be the greatest wave of nostalgia EVER to have a remake. I also want to see Majora's Mask remade, I actually prefer it to OoT. And last but CERTAINLY not least would be Wind Waker, if any of you saw those 3D screenshots of it that some guy emulated and posted online shortly after the 3DS launched, you've seen how gorgeous that cel-shading looks in eye-popping 3D, that's actually the game I want for my 3DS more than any other these days.

Re: Talking Point: The Most Memorable Nintendo 64 Games

NX01Trekkie1992

I forgot to mention earlier how big a fan I am of Pokemon Snap (first N64 game I got, my parents bought it for me when I bought the system after saving for 3 years to buy it with my little kid allowance), and Dr Mario (the only N64 game EVERYONE in my family played, as my mom didn't start playing much until Wii Sports and Wii Fit, and my dad until the GC), sadly, I can't find either of those cartridges along with my SM64 cartridge...

Banjo Kazooie, I spent half my childhood on that game, even though I only ever borrowed it from my cousin, I found a cheap copy on eBay a few years ago though, instant buy, and I still play it all the time.

I must say though, that Smash Brothers (which I still play all the time too, and is currently sitting in my N64 on top of my desk), Super Mario 64, and Majora's Mask are all favourites of mine too.

Re: Site News: A Better Nintendo Life

NX01Trekkie1992

@ToadFan Not necessarily, we Americans aren't so much different than our European brethren now are we? we kinda ARE all Nintendo fans here, regardless of our region, while the occasional ad may be for a game we don't have (I still remember getting annoyed everytime I came here and saw a Xenoblade ad), for the most part, it can cater to both, especially since such a large portion of this site's viewers are from North America

@antdickens WOHOO!!! it'll be nice to be rid of those links, they get repetitive after a while, lol, also, those are some interesting statistics... I do have one question though, does unemployed include students or how does that work? or did you not differentiate? I didn't take the survey so I'm just curious

Re: Analogue Stick Add-On for 3DS Revealed

NX01Trekkie1992

after thinking about this a while longer, and reading some of your thoughts, I actually like the idea of this, the add on most likely represents the universalizing of nintendo consoles, both handheld and home systems. Imagine this, universalizing WiiUWare and 3DSWare, play in 3d (and portable) on your 3DS and on the big screen on your WiiU (and maybe even in bigscreen 3D if you have a 3DTV!), also imagine, when you have to leave the house, pausing your game on your WiiU, transferring it to your 3DS, and taking it along with you. This really DOES have a lot of potential if Nintendo is willing to put in the work!

@GRaven-25 that's a GREAT point about possibly extending battery life, it would go a long way to fixing one of the main complaints about the 3DS.

@daznsaz also a good point, one of the first things I noticed about the 3DS is it no longer had the potential the original DS (and Virtual Boy for that matter) had to mirror controls for the left handed population, due to only one circle pad on the left side of the system, this addon will rectify the problem and allow for greater variety in game control.

Consider this also, the addon may not just be hardware, it COULD also contain software to compliment the new hardware (ie better programming for the gyroscope, speeding up the operating system, or throwing on more preloaded software), in addition, there may be new hardware we're not aware of yet (more onboard storage space, improved battery as mentioned by @GRaven-25, and so much more), people, don't criticize this til we know more about this and what it may do for us once released

Re: Analogue Stick Add-On for 3DS Revealed

NX01Trekkie1992

guys, it's quite obvious why Big N is doing this, when the WiiU was first revealed, Shigeru Miyamoto noted that the 3DS could make a 'nice WiiU controller', however, when I thought about it, I realized the 3DS was missing some things the WiiU has, such as a second analogue stick and the two z triggers the WiiU controller will have, this add-on will basically mimic the WiiU in portable form, with two screens (the WiiU using the TV and controller screen, the 3DS using it's two screens, and both having one touch screen), and the same button setup, 4 triggers, 2 analogue sticks, and the d-pad and the ABXY buttons. This also would explain the decision by Nintendo to only have one WiiU controller per console, instead of manufacturing separate WiiU controllers, Nintendo will be encouraging sales of it's handheld consoles with the concepts of it's new home console, it's quite a brilliant marketing strategy really, though one that may not go over with the fans very well.

Re: North American NES Ambassador Games Announced

@milkman-123
Yes, I emulated the game and I use the state saves like crazy to try and survive it, STILL can't finish it though, the game is ridiculous, though I am looking forward to playing it with actual controls instead of a keyboard (made playing Majora's Mask easier when I got it on VC instead of Project 64), also, I love this list, kinda 'meh' about the golf game but I'll get it anyway

Re: New Wii is No Smaller Than Before

NX01Trekkie1992

@wheels2050
Agreed, for the three reasons of it having no GC compatability, already having my own Wii, and not living in the EU region, I won't be getting it, but I am highly curious what the price drop will be

Re: Feature: Samus Aran, Gaming's Leading Lady

NX01Trekkie1992

"To our non-female fans, do you feel like any less of a man when playing as Samus, or is she just simply another video game character whose person you can seamlessly inhabit?"

Honestly, it doesn't even register with me, she kicks butt, and that's what matters to me, not her gender.
