This is a very poor review. Bringing in drama from things regarding Strictly Limited and other things outside of the game have nothing to do with the quality of the games and experience itself. How tasteless.
This is a SOLID review overall. And the DLC for the game is currently under evaluation which will allow people to upgrade to the anniversary edition. It's not mentioned here, but it should be noted so that folks pick up the base collection if they can and wait for the expansion announcement.
I have high hopes that they'll release the anniversary package via DLC. It would be a really silly and poor decision not to do so. It'll cause backlash and disinterest similar to some that I'm already seeing in the comments section here.
If ININ were smart and wants to make everyone happy, they would do the right thing and make sure that everyone has the same experience in one way or another, not just those who pay more or buy a specific edition from their site. This business practice HAS to stop!
Super Mario Flashback would be an excellent choice. We haven't seen an official pixel Mario platformer in a very long time. There's some great talent out there, but the thing a lot of people don't stop and think about is, do they need it?
They're already solid enough that most things they make are commercially and critically successful. It was more likely with Sega because they actually embrace their fans and their works just as long as they aren't making money off of it or doing something overly ambitious that should be taken down.
Sega allows things such as the Sonic Amateur Game Expo (SAGE), but Nintendo recently purged tons of Mario or Nintendo fan games off of Game Jolt. They aren't your friends. But, if one day they do end up letting a different source make something akin to Sonic Mania, then that would be awesome!
This is definitely looking better each time! Cell-shaded fits this world well. I'm still a bit bothered by some things like Asha's ponytail movement as it can look plain unnatural at times, but I'll let it slide I guess...
The past 4 titles have been hand-drawn, so it's refreshing to see 3D for once in its 35 years. The original team are older now and are reuniting for the first time in ages and I believe it's important for them to do things while they are able to in their lifetimes.
I miss the times when a series going 3D for the first time was a big deal rather than looked down upon because we're so spoiled by pixel or hand-drawn art in platformers for some odd reason that we can't accept anything else and believe every one should be that way. There's already nine million others on the market that do that.
Anyways, I look forward to the release of the game and unlike back in 1994, I hope this isn't the end of the saga revival-wise. We must see more!
I'll never understand the thought process that "3D is cheaper". It may be cheaper to correct, yes (since if you have old art, you have to redo it, recolor it, etc.). But, the workload of a 2D game compared to a 3D one aren't one and the same. You can draw a ton of imagery in 2D in a short time without even touching a single polygon, spline or z-axis.
Each piece in a 3D game is its very own project and the game itself looks fine if I'm being quite honest. I really think it's bad to downplay or undervalue 3D when most great games today from companies we all know and love ARE 3D. Not every platformer needs to be pixel or hand-drawn... :/

Re: Nintendo Indie World Showcase To Air Tomorrow, 14th April
Maybe, Nintendo will give Wonder Boy some recognition? A remake of Monster World IV is coming very soon!
Re: Rumour: Sonic Colors Remaster Listed In Localisation Company's Credits
I hope this is true! Sonic Colors was one of his most outstanding titles. It deserves a remaster after 10+ years!
