Eh, maybe if we are talking indie developers - but when people bring up the garbage emulation Nintendo does for it's own games on Switch? Or pretty much everything else Nintendo has done for the past five years aside from BOTW? Sorry, "lazy" is the only word that is appropriate. The Nintendo Seal of Quality simply doesn't exist any more.
After the utter disappointment of Super Mario Party, and Mario Party 10 before that, I can't believe I'm saying it...but yup, I'm in. Already paid for. I watched a ton of reviews today to make sure, but yup - this is exactly the Mario Party game I wanted them to make. From the board variety and size, the lack of gimmicks, getting rid of motion crap, speeding up the turns, and of course online play - this is the first Nintendo game I've truly been excited about for a long time.
@victordamazio That's pretty much how I feel. I'd happily pay Nintendo if they offered at least equal, if not better, service than what you can get going the regular old emulation route.
@Itachi2099 Same! I couldn't be happier. My Switch has never been played unless it's been docked. No need whatsoever for me to upgrade, and I'm grateful for it.
Yes. Some of my fondest childhood gaming memories were finally finding a prized game at the store, and opening it up in the car so I could read the manual on the way home.
I still get the strangest feeling like something is missing every time I open up a fresh new Switch game. The little clips in there that should be holding documents just mocks me. I can't believe Nintendo doesn't put SOMETHING in there, even just a flyer or ad.
@BloodNinja I completely agree. I'd love to upgrade to a 4K Switch, but there is no way I am buying a whole console package where the price is going to be what it likely will be when that new screen, which I will never use, is going to drive up the price.
I do like the new "Mario Red" one. I also really like that purple one that is out there. However...as much as I look at them I have to remind myself that I simply don't need more JoyCons, and buying them for the sake of colors is stupid since 90% of the time I'm using Pro Controllers anyway. I actually can't stand using the little buggers unless I have to for Mario Party or something. I don't know what it is about Nintendo, but it is so funny how intellectually I know I have no use for them whatsoever, but that part of me just wants to own more of them in cute colors, LOL.
@progx That's the only thing I would be interested in - a TV-only upgrade model. I just don't have use for another handheld device. I have had a Switch since launch day and I have played it in handheld mode for less than a half-hour, total. If they ever did do an actual console version, I'd totally pass my current Switch over to someone else and never look back.
First, let me say I am very glad that so many people did get announcements of stuff they wanted. I completely recognize "different strokes for different folks".
That said, as someone who has owned every Nintendo system since 1985, I continue to be more disappointed in Nintendo's offerings this generation than any before. Not just the fact that we just keep getting so many ports, but the fact that they cost $60 for ports of games nearing a decade old at this point.
And then you have a game like Mario Golf that just make little sense. I'm not personally interested in just a golf simulator, so when I saw some of the "speedrun" modes and stuff, I thought, this might be kind of fun. Then you realize the whole thing is set in generic woods looking places - when they have countless Mario themed worlds that you could have played in. That would be kind of fun, and at least something that felt new.
The IGN bashing is funny, because they gave an honest review of the game. I think their review is much more accurate, and the other reviews and comments are just so ultra-positive because people are so desperate for new first-party content on the Switch. The fact that a port of a 7 year-old game is getting so much attention is just indicative of how lazy Nintendo has been in producing games this generation.
Only on a Nintendo fan site will you see a game like this called a "value" - a port of a 7 year-old game with what is effectively a tech demo tossed in as an after-thought.
I'd feel differently if this were a $30-40 game, or if Nintendo gave a discount to those who have this game digitally on Wii U.
It is just a testament to how lazy Nintendo has been this generation. When a 7 year-old port is one of their big first party games of the year, you know things are pretty weak.
If anything, they would be better served by doing the opposite and creating a premium console only version as the next model to complement what they already have.
@Kimyonaakuma Exactly, Super Mario Party isn't a bad game, it is just incomplete. They tried to pad it out with the little side "carnival" games, but the meat of the actual boards is just lacking. It needed at minimum two more boards to feel anywhere near complete, given the size of them. It's really disappointing that this game got no post-launch support.

HAHAHA...Yeah, Gamestop, I'm giving you my XBOX Series X for a $250 credit...these guys are such a joke.

Re: Among Us Airship Map Finally Gets A Release Date
What I really want to know is the XBOX release date of the game itself.

Re: Round Up: The Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Reviews Are In
@Reyren Yeah I just ignored that rant. No idea what it is about. I have never owned a Sony system, so I can't even begin to comment on any of that.
My opinions are just based on the fact that I have been buying Nintendo systems and games since 1985.
