2:16 in this video (2:06 in the original video) I think the item he can't identify is a slingshot. Looks like you pull it back and then it rubber bands back together when you release it.
There's no reason to buy the Japanese version if you can't read Japanese when there are easily available versions for emulator. Until Nintendo allows me to pay them for the pleasure to play it, I'll just continue to use emulation.
@sillygostly Awesome, thanks. I kind of want to buy this game but after I saw all the e-shop news littering my feed I quickly undid it and deleted the account. Thinking about getting a physical copy of this. Easily my favorite game from my childhood... but wary of it being in all Japanese. =/ REALLY want a NA/EU localization.
To play a physical copy of an import, do you need an account from that region? I don't want to have all the Japanese games in my news feed (what happens when you add a Japanese account).
@GoldenGamer88 Just turn off the tv and let the console shut itself down. You don't need to turn it off, it will do that automatically. You can even set the time until it does this in the settings.
@crimsontadpoles Releasing in other countries requires a few things that can take time and add complication. 1. Translations - Not only do you have to translate all the strings in the game, but you have to test them and make sure they look ok in all areas. Plus you need to make App Store pictures and description text in all these languages as well. 2. Tax and Accounting - To take payments in another country, you have to setup accounts to be able to take income and then pay applicable taxes in those locations.
Both of these things are made easier by them being a large company but usually the departments that handle this kinda thing are a bit slow and understaffed so they do them one at a time to make it easier and keep work flowing at a constant rate instead of large bursts of sutff to do then long stretches of no work.
Damn... I read the headline in my news reader and thought "Oh man, I would totally buy a mini-Princess Peach hotwheels cart" (meaning a hotwheels car that looked like a Princess Peach from Mario Kart) and then when I saw it was just a paintjob on an existing car... =(
Am I the only one that thinks the classic Minifigs looks terrible and outdated? The one thing I thought LEGO Friends did right was make better looking minifigs. I suspect I'm alone in this though...
I know it's kids and they are racing for fun, but it's hard to watch them race and have them not sliding around corners... it's interesting to watch as someone who only plays solo or online in the higher brackets. I like that the game can be enjoyed on so many different skill levels; That has to be hard to balance for.
@Mahe In terms of links, I view it on my TV and then just click the link on the gamepad. It's not inconvenient. It's much easier than browsing on any other console. I've personally had no problems with it being heavy, but surely you could just switch to the pro controller if that bothered you enough. I don't know why you're trying to put it down in some cubby hole somewhere. I think most people have a space for a tablet sized object next to their couch. I will give you the fact that the battery dies really fast but that's an easy 30$ fix. Get the extended battery. Personally I feel like it's basically required or else the thing dies too quickly. It's an official licensed product, by nintendo, fits in the same place. It makes a big difference.
If you've played many DS/3DS games, you would know that what most of the devs do with 2 screens is put all the main content on the top screen (in this case it would be your TV) and put inventory, or map or something else that you're not constantly looking at, on the lower screen. I don't see how this couldn't be adapted to this Wii U. In fact it should make games for Nintendo easier to adapt for both platforms since both the 3DS and Wii U have similar screen output now.
I don't understand why people dislike the gamepad so much to be honest. The stylus interface allows much easier typing and surfing the web on the Wii U using the gamepad is SO MUCH easier than any of the other consoles. I get the argument about price, but I think most people aren't holding off because of the controller, they are waiting for games. There's honestly not many games for it. I like my (very recently bought) WiiU and can't wait for some more titles to play on it. It took developers a while to get a handle on how to make good DS games, some of them just need to bring that same mentality to making Wii U games.

@UK-Nintendo What do you mean in the same month? I thought the Mario Odyssey release date was still just "2017".
