Re: Best Buy Employee On A Mission To Save R.O.B.

Intrepid

@tbd As I was telling Tasuki, I have no idea what will happen from here regarding Best Buy or its recycling program. I'm only predicting that this will be a non issue for the most part because they average lay person will not have heard about this story. If this does escalate...well, they may just have to be stricter in the future or cancel the recycling program.

Re: Best Buy Employee On A Mission To Save R.O.B.

@WesCash No problem. Rest assured I am also relieved it was saved.

@Tasuki I considered that, and you're right: people will feel misled. I have no answer for how Best Buy will handle this, but I predict that the average customer will not even know about it.

I would hope both customers and employees recognize that it was a one time deal to save a valuable artifact. Remember that the employee did not get to keep the collection, so other employees will have to understand that if they raise an issue about an item, even if it is saved they will not get to own it, hopefully reducing incentive to even try doing something underhanded.

So we will have to see how this plays out, but I predict that Best Buy will emerge with no backlash, with no change to its recycling program, and hardly anyone will notice (outside of reddit of course). Business as usual.

I usually am a huge rule lawyer when it comes to things, but even I see the stupidity of recycling this. I fully support this guy in preserving a piece of Nintendo history, especially onne that is extremely rare and not being made anymore.I'm not sure I would have the guts to go through with it, but I'm glad he's willing.

I'm more worried that, no matter how covertly he does this, he will still get caught. There are cameras all over the store, and anything that was recorded in inventory that suddenly goes missing is a red flag. What's worse is, if he gets caught, it isn't a simple matter of him keeping the thing in exchange for his job. Best Buy legaly reclaims it, so in the end he will end up jobless, in jail, and the thing will be recycled anyway. He best chance was to not spread this story on the internet and draw aattention to himself, but he already botched that.

I still wish him luck regardless.

Re: Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma

Intrepid

For me, I'm a collector, so I like to have all of my boxes lined up on the shelf. I also feel that if I cannot hold it, I do not own it. Technically, whether it is physical or digital, you only paid for a lisence to that game, but having the disk feels more like an actual belonging that I can do whatever I want to.

One thought of mine: In 10+ years from now, someone will want to play a certain WiiU game, but can't because the copies that exist are digitally tied to systems. That person, in order to play the game, will either have to buy the system as well, or pay for a physical copy. The problem is that because eveyone bought digital copies, it contributed to the scarcity of physical copies down the road. Good luck trying to find physical copies of games out now in the future, because there will be less of them.

Yes, Sword Art Online Infinity Moment is at #1! I'm going to import this if there is no word on an english localization. The english dub that was just announced for SAO makes me hopeful that it will happen.

@fudgenuggets Thank you, finally someone who agrees with me!

Re: PETA Starts "Whaling" About Assassin's Creed IV's Animal Cruelty

Intrepid

All of this is in historical context people, chill out. It was a way of life in those times and its inclusion is important to achieve accuracy. Ubisoft does not support whaling, or is trying to encourage you to do so. If you don't enjoy the idea of killing whales, don't buy the game. I'm suprised that people are defending PETA.

Re: Wii U To Get An "Exclusive" Rayman Legends Demo Soon

Intrepid

At least it's something. If Ubisoft didn't care at all they would not have even bothered with a demo. It is an unfortunate decision, but Ubisoft, as a company, decided it was better to release them together. As terrible as this is to us, I would give Ubisoft a break, because it's not like they do this all the time. Ubisoft is actually a really respectable third party. It could be worse: it could have been Capcom instead.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Nine

Intrepid

I rediscoved LoZ Wind Waker two weeks ago, and I discovered from my save file that I hadn't played since 2005! I have never actually finished the game, so I have since finished the Earth Temple, collected the Triforce, mapped the entire Great Sea, and did a lot of collection, so I am close to finishing. Sadly, this file will not be 100% complete, as I missed a handfull of pictographs than are impossible to get again.

Also some Paper Mario Sticker Star. I left off on Bowser for some reason, so I will finally finish it this weekend.

Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September

Intrepid

Ubisoft made no promises and can do as they want. Having said that, this still deals a blow to Nintendo. This game is now twice delayed, and is prevented from releasing at a time where we don't have many games to choose from. The incentive to purchase a WiiU is now non-existant to those who wanted to play this game. The only thing we can really do to protest, and some have already decided to do this, is boycott Rayman Legends. Trust me, Ubisoft not getting your money will make them more recepive to changes they can make to better satisfy those fans; you. I personally don't play Rayman, but I feel sorry for those who wanted this sooner/exclusive.

To look at this from another angle, though, Ubisoft has did just that. They listened to fans who expressed concern on missing out on the game and decided they should experience it too. Since more people will buy and play the game, the franchise becomes more profitable and guarantees subsequent releases. This is good news to all Rayman fans.

So really, depending on your opinion, you could feel very happy or mad/sad, its up to you.

Re: Pikmin 3 Will Allow For GamePad-Only Play

I am a huge fan of the series, got both games almost immediately after release, and have been anticipating Pikmin 3 ever since Pikmin 2 was released, scouring Nintendo Power and sites like this constantly for information about it. This game alone is why I bought a WiiU.

Re: Nintendo Direct: Watch The Special Pokémon Announcement Right Here

Finally, a 3D Pokemon game! I'm definately going to get X version.

I'm liking the simultanious release idea. Now everyone can experience the game together and be suprised at the same time, instead of reading spoilers.

And the Pokemon look atrocious, but the water type looks the best out of the three, and luckily I always pick the starter, so I'm happy.
