Re: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Coming to 3DS on 19th May

IceAnt573

@AVahne I still want to know what exactly is your issue with Fates' gameplay.

I like the additions of shuriken weapons and their debuffing effects + the Attack/Guard Stance System with characters providing unique bonuses. Personal skills were a cool addition as well and Dragon Veins made maps more dynamic.

Re: The Art of Fire Emblem: Awakening Book is Now Just Days Away

IceAnt573

@KO-Cub I said it was cool of him to have that opinion if that was the point of his comment. It wasn't.

I know that artbook already existed. Thanks reddit.

"Leave it?" In no way did I tell that person to leave. I just don't like that person's choice of words and I want to express that.

With the way you responded to me, I think I can guess which Fire Emblem games you like the most and which you don't like.

Re: The Art of Fire Emblem: Awakening Book is Now Just Days Away

IceAnt573

@Sakuraichu What are you trying to accomplish by saying you hate Awakening? Like okay that's cool to have that opinion if that was the point of your comment, but this is news for an Awakening art book and I assume people interested in reading this are fans of Fire Emblem Awakening. However, the rest of that comment is you linking to the Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn artbook.

Re: Video: Nintendo Minute Shows Off a New Area of Paper Mario: Color Splash

IceAnt573

@FierceRagnar I just told you in my second paragraph I've heard those same criticisms with better choices of words and I respect the stances of those people.

Of course, I disagree with them and we can have a civil discussion on it.

You are not entirely to blame for why that turned into an argument, but you certainly didn't choose the right words to express your stance.

Check that wiki and you will see zero hentai related work related to him.

Do you really think the same man who did character designs for Pokemon Go would get hired by The Pokemon Company to do work for them if he did hentai work?

Re: Video: Nintendo Minute Shows Off a New Area of Paper Mario: Color Splash

IceAnt573

@FierceRagnar I do not know what artist you are talking about.

I'm going to assume you might be referring to Yusuke Kozaki who is most certainly not a writer of any kind. He's always been an illustrator and character designer.

Also, you may yourself think you're not being "aggressive" but you're certainly baiting people with your opinions. There are ways to express dis-contempt for something without getting aggressive responses.

Frankly, every opinion you have said about Fire Emblem, I've heard before from other people and said with a more careful choice of words and I respect the stance of those people.

Re: Turns Out The Guy Behind Final Fantasy Loves Fire Emblem Too

IceAnt573

@AVahne What point are you trying to prove? "Subjectively" I find both Awakening and Conquest (I'll add in Birthright, but not Revelation) more fun than past games (I would have added in slow-as-a-snail Path of Radiance and few others) each for different reasons. "Subjectively" you don't. The have still maintained (and are perceived) a consistent level of quality.

Re: Turns Out The Guy Behind Final Fantasy Loves Fire Emblem Too

IceAnt573

@FierceRagnar I don't think Intelligent Systems is doing things badly as you claim them to be. Yes there are questionable decisions that will probably leave them thinking on what to improve or change, but they are still outputting quality games.

Conquest is a more fun game than the following: Gaiden, Binding Blade, 7, The Sacred Stones, Shadow Dragon.

On a semi-related note, Tellius-obsessed fans annoy me.

Re: Hands On: Seeking an Awakening in Fire Emblem Fates

IceAnt573

@AVahne I find your constant proclamations that Fire Emblem is now a casual series to be rather pretentious. This is a series that has always been varied and experimental in gameplay. There are times where some games feel like reboots especially if you go from Thracia to Binding Blade or Radiant Dawn to Shadow Dragon. For how often you speak of Awakening's gameplay, I find Shadow Dragon to be even more basic and more simple. It's a remake of an NES game, they arguably could have done more. However, I still found the experience satisfying and engaging.

You seem to scoff at and almost disregard all the genuine intricacies added to Fates and just stick to this "casualization" narrative. Ever been to /r/fireemblem? That place has quite few people who own the Japanese version of the game while also having played almost every entry in the series. They can respect the game and consider it worthy to stand among previous entries.

Re: Project Guard and Fire Emblem Fates Provide Oddities in Nintendo's Upcoming Game Schedule Details

IceAnt573

@Yorumi And Wii games weren't $60. Why are you comparing a 3ds game with gba games when you should be comparing it to other 3ds games. Fire Emblem Fates is doing more to justify 2 games and giving you discounts for the other far more than Pokémon ever did. Not to mention there was never a push to buy both routes. It's only if you really want to like with some Pokémon fans.

Re: Project Guard and Fire Emblem Fates Provide Oddities in Nintendo's Upcoming Game Schedule Details

IceAnt573

@Yorumi I guess you are referring to Fire Emblem 7. And no I don't think it's 41, it's 36 actual "unique" chapters.

I think they do enough to justify having two separate games. Also in Japan getting another route is about half a normal route (one route is 5076 yen and other routes as DLC is 2000 yen) so that totals about...$75.80. Awakening is $40. That's actually less than double what Awakening was. I assume the same conventional model as Japan is going to be brought here.

Re: Project Guard and Fire Emblem Fates Provide Oddities in Nintendo's Upcoming Game Schedule Details

IceAnt573

@Yorumi The first 6 chapters are the same. From there on, the chapters are unique and go up to Chapter 28 on both routes. So Prologue Chapter+first 6 chapters+22 Hoshido chapters+22 Nohr chapters. That is 51.

Also I made it a point to only include main game stuff so why are you citing Advance Wars' war rooms, map creators, and etc. stuff? I could just as easily cite the side chapters of Fire Emblem Fates and Fire Emblem Fates' online multiplayer.

Re: Project Guard and Fire Emblem Fates Provide Oddities in Nintendo's Upcoming Game Schedule Details

IceAnt573

@Yorumi Total unique Fates chapters EXCLUDING the third route and EXCLUDING side chapters: 51.

Total unique for FE6 EXCLUDING side chapters: 31

Total for FE7: Around 36

Total for FE8: 27.

This isn't mentioning Fates has more side chapters than all of the GBA games...

Or the separate storylines, or the different characters on each route, or the different music and classes...

Re: Video: Watch Acclaimed Manga Artist Kozaki Yusuke Draw Felicia From Fire Emblem Fates

IceAnt573

@AVahne Do you not know the gameplay elements that Fates has? Personal skills are back, Capture is back on select units, Shove is back on a specific class, Rescue is back on a specific class, a new skill that switches your unit with an enemy unit after you kill the enemy unit has been added, Pair Up has been reworked and split into Attack and Guard Stance, reclassing does not reset levels anymore, Dragon's Vein changes map design (and make it more interesting) and be beneficial to some units and detrimental to others. Weapon weight got replaced with a more complicated system of an individual weapon having its own benefits and weaknesses. The magic triangle hardly meant much in the GBA games and met practically nothing in Radiant Dawn with only two dark magic units you can't even get on a first playthrough. If you're talking about the wind, fire, thunder triangle PoR/RD had, that hardly meant much either with magic units having a high RES stat.

Re: An Impressive 1.79 Million Players Have Crossed Swords With Fire Emblem: Awakening

IceAnt573

@AVahne Apparently, giving an actual reason to use an iron sword over a Brave or Silver Sword means more "casual". Don't you realize that the changes to weapon durability is to promote horizontal weapon progression which is less grindy than what the rest of the series except Gaiden does? Not coincidentally, Gaiden also did not have durability. I wouldn't be so quick to label mechanic changes as over-simplified.

Re: Fire Emblem's Two Versions Will Offer Very Different Challenges

IceAnt573

@Yorumi How the Nohr path is essentially FE7 and Hoshido is The Sacred Stones? The fact that no Western Nintendo Direct has said a single thing about two versions and all of this information we've received is second-hand incomplete, sloppy translations? This article is missing details from the 4gamer interview like how Japanese players can download one path for free.

Re: Fire Emblem's Two Versions Will Offer Very Different Challenges

IceAnt573

@Yorumi Remember when one FE game had a mode that includes the world map and a mode that doesn't? Oh wait....

Not to mention you can turn down difficulty in the Nohr path if you read translations of the interview. Not to mention we still don't know if the two versions model is coming outside of Japan....

Re: Miyamoto Talks Up Star Fox Wii U's "Fun And Unique" Dual-Screen Control Mechanics

IceAnt573

@eartboundlink Sure the platformers can get away with no story, but another series suffered from a lack of story that Miyamoto himself involved himself with in the form of Paper Mario. Sticker Star doesn't even have the same mood or feel of a Paper Mario game let alone a lack of story. Star Fox has all the potential for a great story with its world. Of Nintendo's main franchises, the only ones that would get by without a story to me is Mario platformers, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Yoshi, and Wario Land/WarioWare.
