Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

Funny_Moblin

@mariobro4 Oh....bummer, but thanks for answering my question. I asked this because I heard that in 3D Land they removed the White Tanooki in the special world, so I was hoping for the same....but I guess not....

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

Funny_Moblin

Could somebody please answer this?

For the people who make too many mistakes that they use the white Tanooki, will there be some note saying that the level was beat using a white Tanooki? Or many green stars will not appear? I want to know if there is some way to make it fair for those who are experienced.

@Goginho Heh, I'll have you know that I own a 3DS. The games that the 3DS has to offer themselves are not bad in terms of graphics, especially with the 3D effect, but it's really a no-brainer when it comes down to choosing two different versions of Super Smash Bros in terms of the visuals (and maybe gameplay).

I'm also not spoiled xD I actually do not really mind graphics in general, and no little Jaggi has ever put me off in MH3U. I'm 18 and I'm not gonna lie, I got into gaming consoles with the Gamecube, but graphics were still not very good (by today's standards). Though I usually do not mind graphics, it feels to me like Smash Bros. on Wii U just has to get it right.

Oh, and I'm guessing you don't really appreciate different textures (no offense).

@Goginho If there is a Super Smash Bros. game that was aiming to be photo-realistic, that would be Brawl. As you say "simplistic", the Wii U version is also simplistic. For example, Mario does not have the details on his jeans like in Brawl, and all of the characters have a simpler colour palette, as opposed to the dry, realistic-like colours. I would agree with you characters do not look fitting IF we were talking about Brawl, but the Wii U version has all of what you described.

Sorry, but the 3DS screenshots look good in the internet, not so much on the 3DS directly. Good luck playing Smash Bros. with moving pixels and a small screen.

Re: Video: Here's Five Levels Of Super Mario 3D Multiplayer Mayhem For Your Delectation

Funny_Moblin

@SockoMario Well, Super Mario Sunshine was the first game I played along with my first console. This may be my childhood speaking for the most part, but I know what I'm saying. Nintendo experimented with Super Mario Sunshine. Why can't they do the same with Super Mario 3D World? And what I mean by plastic graphics, I mean that everybody and everything in 3D World is all shiny, unlike Sunshine.

Re: Video: Here's Five Levels Of Super Mario 3D Multiplayer Mayhem For Your Delectation

Funny_Moblin

@LUIGITORNADO Yeah...I just hate these new Mario games in general, both 2D and 3D. The first NSMB for the DS was a nice throwback and fan service, but now this is just abusive, and just ruins whatever old elements they bring to new Mario games. Now it's all about going through these bland worlds, plastic textures, enclosed gameplay, uninventive enemies. Super Mario Sunshine was my biggest inspiration back when I was 9. I feel sorry for the kids playing these new Mario games (Aside from the Galaxy series which is amazing). Sunshine was just so...idk I can't explain it, too much childhood.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off Super Mario 3D World Stages and the Madness of Multiplayer

Funny_Moblin

I'm still not getting this game...Nintendo really killed the excitement for old school Mario elements, and it all started with the NSMB series. This looks too easy and plain. I regret getting 3D Land, and I will certainly regret getting 3D World.

Why can't Nintendo experiment with a NEW open world game? I loved Sunshine. Away from the Mushroom Kingdom, with new enemies, FLUDD...what happened.

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

@GreatPlayer Now I understand what you mean about preferring 2D Mario due to exact controls. 3D controls may be harder to handle, but I suspect it does make you think about pecision, it just takes a little while to get used to.

About Sonic Lost World, aside from reviewers criticizing controls, I also see that they criticize the visuals and the levels. Although I didn't play the game, I saw footage and I don't understand their complaint. I mean, the graphics are nice, bright and colourful. I it not a similar graphic style to the Mario Galaxy series? About the levels, I think they are well structured from the bit that I've seen; Linear yet explorational where you can choose to take different paths around the tube, running on walls, etc.

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

Funny_Moblin

@GreatPlayer Yes, I agree. As a gamer that wants a challenge, I will have no problems with getting used to the controls, and actually thinking and re-trying stages. Just like MH3U's demo didn't do the actual game justice, I feel the same way about Sonic Lost World ad these reviews.

About the Super Mario Galaxy games, I didn't have an issue controlling them but that's just me. I also have The Wonderful 101 and I love it. Great replay value.

My first gaming console was the Gamecube back in 2002 (I'm 18 btw). My first two games were Smash Bros. Melee and Super Mario Sunshine. Nintendo was pretty damn creative with Sunshine, it was actually inspiring. As my first Nintendo game I wouldn't know about what feature it has, or it has missing from previous Mario games. But now as a Nintendo fan, I can see that basically everything was new, and it was a nice approach. For me, there was nothing like standing in a huge landscape and thinking "GO TO THAT HILL!" or "GO TO THE TOP OF THE WINDMILL AND BEAT THAT PETTY PIRANHA!" In Bianco Hill for example, I love how you can go from exploring the waters, and going all the way up to jumping on various cables. There was just so much content in that game.

New Super Mario Bros for the DS and Super Mario Galaxy came out around the same time. They were really good games because they brought back many important elements from past Mario games, and it was really neat. But now it's a disgrace. Ever since 2006, Nintendo has been abusing the "roots" with all these New Super Mario Bros. game. They took it too far. And Super Mario 3D Land/ World is just awful. The environments are really enclosed, with those plastic graphics and easy gameplay. No exploration, just a walk through the park. Nintendo is making all these games look like really cute baby games...I feel bad for this generation of 9 year olds who might never experience Mario Sunshine.

You may think that I'm making a big deal about Sunshine, but it's a childhood game, and I wouldn't see myself having memorable experiences with 3D Land and World if I were 10 today. Btw when I was 8 I saw a friend play Donkey Kong 64, and it brought such magic to me...

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

Funny_Moblin

@GreatPlayer Same here. I'm not getting Mario 3D World. The only Mario platformer I got for Wii U was Luigi U in hopes that it would actually be more challenging, but it really wasn't---well yeah, maybe a bit more challenging compared to Mario Bros. U...

To remember I was so excited to getting New Super Mario Bros. Wii...got it at launch right when the store opened, and I had trouble sleeping at night...4 years ago...

About DKC: TF, I'm kinda bummed they are including the balloons that save your life, but I have good hopes that there will be two difficulty modes, and thus the balloon recovery would be in the easier difficulty.

Btw, what's your opinion on the difficulty of the final levels for Galaxy 2 + the green stars? The last level---off, that was a nice challenge

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

Funny_Moblin

@Maneauleau I want all these games to be challenging. Making it easy is an insult to us veteran Nintendo gamers...at least make two difficulty choices to choose from.

It just disgusts me to think that games that I want are supposed to be for little kids. Seriously, can I enjoy a game in its right difficulty without it being an Xbox 360 game?

Re: Eiji Aonuma States Desire to Avoid the Limitations of Tradition in The Legend of Zelda Franchise

Funny_Moblin

@Bass_X0 I know what you mean. Twilight Princess feels like they focused mostly on the somewhat realistic graphics, while taking a huge inspiration from Ocarina of Time. I liked Skyward Sword too but I'll disagree on one thing. I don't think the huge focus was around the story, but rather the controls (although I really liked them, and what made the game so good).

For the next Zelda on Wii U, they should add the button controls from the Gamepad and Wii U Pro, while at the same time allowing you to play like you do in Skyward Sword. This time though, I want them to focus more on dungeons and the overworld, with somehow implementing lots of replay value. Oh, and a good story of course.

Is there any new information on the new Petit Computer that's gonna be made specifically on the 3DS? Like seriously, it's been announced in August, and I heard nothing ever since. That kinda bothers me.

Re: SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge Confirmed For Wii U, Wii, 3DS And DS

Funny_Moblin

@Luigifan141 I used to play Battle for Bikini too when I was smaller. I think I can explain as to why others and I feel like it is a very special to us. Sure, of course there are better 3D platformers out there, but playing Battle for Bikini Bottom was very inspiring and brings many memories that are part of our childhood, just like other N64 games like Super Mario 64. Battle for Bikini Bottom isn't just any 3D platformer though. The level constructions are very interesting, such as Spongebob's Dream and the deeper and jungle levels.

Re: Talking Point: The Download Games Battle is Just Beginning

Funny_Moblin

@MegaManEP3 I agree that Club Nintendo tracks CERTAIN games. Not only is it uncertain that Nintendo would give you the games back just by looking at your club Nintendo, but also not all the games have the code. I got very frustrated when I got Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate only to find out there was no Club Nintendo code.

Re: Feature: Our Favourite Wii U and 3DS Smash Bros. Screens So Far

@ThomasBW84 Hehe, yeah, I did figure it was from KI: U, which is even better. By the way, a few weeks ago I have e-mailed NoA about SUCH AN EPIC STAGE IDEA I HAVE for Animal Crossing. They said that by the rules, they can't forward it to Sakurai. If only Sakurai could SEE it!!! It has true potential, I'm serious!!!!

Edit: They said that even though they can't forward the idea, he and the crew that work there loved my idea and thought it was cool
