You can find some pretty fun Apps on the I-Pad, but they don't provide near the same amount of content or value that a Nintendo DS game can provide (as long as you're buying the right DS games). If your looking for more value and content in your games, buy a Nintendo DS. If you're looking for short, but fun diversions, buy an I-pad or I-phone.
I was kind of excited for this. I have fond memories of playing Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 at my cousin's house when we were kids. Guess I'll just stick with the VC versions. "sigh"
I just picked this up from Ebay a few days ago. It's pretty much the same as the first Papaer Mario, and most of its improvements are made in the game's visuals. There's not much new content to be found, but it's a fun adventure nonetheless. Now all I need is a memory card to save my progress.
Of course the DS version of Super Mario 64 could never translate it's tight controls over to the DS, but Nintendo did the best they could to make each of the control options easy to use.
I played through the entire game, and frankly, I didn't notice any control issues. For those of you who haven't gotten used to them, just get the original Super Mario 64 on Ebay or the Virtual Console iteration.
@Raylax: The art style in the original Yoshi's Island was fantastic, but Artoon failed to re-create the same look in Yoshi's Island DS, or even the great soundtrack. I was very dissapointed with Yoshi's Island DS for these reasons, and I let Gamestop buy it from me. Nostalgia was the main reason I picked it up, but it was definitely not was I hoping for at all.
Boom Blox: Bash Party was an incredible game, although I can see why it got poor sales. It's just more of the same for those who had already bought Boom Blox. Boom Blox: Bash Party improved on the original a LOT though, including a ton of new levels, a stress-free online experience, and achievements. It's sad to see the developers of this game getting laid off.
This reminds me of Rumble Racing on the PS2. I already have two racing games for my Wii (Mariokart and Excitebots), but neither of them have a level editor. I'm definitely going to consider this one.
I'm curious how this is going to turn out. Once they get a little farther into development, I'd like to see it. It sounds like they're not even close to being done yet.
They'll definitely have a lot of catching up to do, but I'm so excited to find out what they're going do with the DS2. There's so many possibilities. Hopefully, it'll be a gaming machine that can out-perform the I-pod Touch at least. I wonder when Sony is going to release their new handheld?
I agree with Kid_A. If they did announce that there will be a successor to the DSi, I doubt that they would release anytime soon. Still, if they announce it, no one will buy the DSiXL. I wouldn't.
Phew! I'm glad it was just a mistake. I got my Wii about a year ago, so I'm not ready for a new console to be announced just yet. Hopefully the editors will be more careful next time...
"Sure, there's Ubisoft's Red Steel 2 on the horizon, but it's not everyone's cup of Kool-Aid."
This sentence just reminded me how thirsty I am. Kool-aid sounds really good right now. Oh yeah, and Zelda with the WM+ sounds awesome, no matter which way you slice it.
I dunno. Is the Endless Ocean series kind of like "My Aquarium" for Wiiware? Because "My Aquarium" didn't hold my interest very long. How much $ is Endless Ocean 2?
Ooh! I just watched the trailer for Metroid: Other M! I've never seen the whole thing before, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of it at E3 this year.
The vitality sensor, however, just might be where I draw the line in terms of buying new peripherals. Okay, MAYBE if there was one good game to go with it, I might be convinced to go out and buy one.
I like the music! Other than that, I'm not going to make any judgements until some gameplay footage is released. Looks promising, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I know how the Crystal Bearers turned out on the Wii...
I just purchased it, and I have to say, it's one of the best fighting games I've ever played! Unfortunately, on the screen where it shows the different combos, I can't seem to figure out how to use some of them based on the images they show you. It's also more confusing than Super Smash Bros., but just by a little bit. Once I start to grasp the controls, I think it will be much more enjoyable.
For $20, I don't think the current classic controller is worth it. For the CC Pro, I think I might be more willing to shell out $20 for it. As for the game, I might consider buying it, but I can"t say for sure yet.
Has anyone played Gunstar Super Heroes for the Gameboy Advance? That game rocked!!! Unfortunately, Gunstar Super Heroes is too short as well, but both of these games are absolutely incredible.
I've played it once on Sonic Mega Collection for the PS2. It's not bad. I'd think it would be more fun with another player, then again, most puzzle games are. I'd probably give it a 6/10 too.
So do I! I just bought it, and I'm enjoying it a lot! I guess I'm not one to speak on the game's behalf though, since I haven't played the original, or City Folk.
LOL, Starkiller! The "Color a Dinosaur" game looks awful! If I had to choose between these two games, I would probably go with "Master of Illusion: Mind Probe". At least it's a nice trick to play on a friend. Unfortunately, the trick expires after one use on that particular friend, so you would have to keep finding a different friend to play it on.
Cool! I might have to pick one up at Walmart next Friday. The metallic blue one, preferably. I already have Brain Age 2, Clubhouse Games, and the photo clock just sounds useless, so the metallic blue DSi is a no-brainer for me.
Just got the game, and it's a winner! I am absolutely LOVING the earlier stages! Even though they are easy if you just run through them, I appreciate the inventive hidden areas, and the challenge of finding all of the hidden coins. I'm stoked to visit some of the later areas, since Corbie says that they provide a lot more challenge which is just what I'm looking for.
Machu, it's gonna be so worth the wait! The game is a ton of fun!
@pixelman: ExciteBots is great! I just bought it on clearance at Target recently, and I've enjoyed it a lot. Based on what I've seen from Nitro, Excitebots seems like the better choice.
Hey Corbie, are you reviewing all of these retro gameboy games? Is it just for fun, or does someone tell you to review them? They're great reviews, but I was just wondering.
I agree. If I were a kid, I would be eagerly waiting in line for a chance to play this, especially if I had never experienced motion controls before. It's not the most complex game, but it provides a very basic level of fun, which goes very well with party environments.
Ha-ha! I guess you're right! No offense, though. Your name is fine. Don't even think about getting a screen name just because of me. lol! That would just be weird.
Great review, Corbie (is that your real name? I mean, you never know with celebrities and singers adopting screen names, you know.)! I love this game! It's one of the best reasons to own a gameboy, in my opinion.
Hmm...I haven't seen any gameplay yet, but the animated advertisements sell the game well. It's hard to say if this is a future purchase for me, or not.

I noticed the checkpoint flag, too. Didn't Nintendo say they were going to make the game more difficult?
