@Anti-Matter Nice for you, but at least in my case things has been different. My dad also was a gamer, an old school one, thanks to him I played a lot of Doom and C&C during the 90s and he had exactly the same problem. He always complained about not having enough time for gaming and I always thought but you always have time. Now that I am with a job and a family I fully understand him and Switch has been a really nice opportunity for me.
@Anti-Matter Me neither, I'm 32 by the way. I was talking about adults with jobs, family life and responsibilities, when you are 20-something, you are an adult but you don't have the responsibilities of a grownup up. I still love Nintendo and the color and the music of Mario or Zelda.
@RoomB31 I was talking just by reading in forums ans places like that, many people has been talking about playing again because with family and kinds there is not much time for playing. Even if you have the console, you don't use it much, at least is has been my case with my gaming pc. People are discovering again that they can still play videogames, even if you don't have much time, because you can play full console games commuting or meanwhile your partner is watching tv.
@Gamer83 Of course, but even if you have the console, you don't use it much, at least less than you would like it to use. In my case I always have a good gaming pc but I'm not using it much.
I have the feeling just by anecdotal evidence that Nintendo have found again a new market for the Switch, all the "old" people above 20-something. I, like many people around, have family and job and I don't have enough time for gaming, even if I really love it. Switch has been amazing for squeezing the time for playing. Sony has been attracting the young adults, but the "real" adults has been left behind.
@Solid_Stannis Sorry but culture of complacency?, for this reason everyone should learn Japanese, not English, and sorry but many english speakers don't seems to be so eager to learn a new languague, same reason for the need of remaking every good foreign serie or movie for english speaker, instead of good subtitles, lets do it again because it is so hard to read characters.
About the chat, we are playing with people all around the world, and excuuuse me, but not everyone speaks perfect, no accent english. I have seen a lot of japanese characters in the names, so really, chat with strangers is no need. With friends is a different talk....
About the lack of chat, with random you don't need it, because it seems that we are playing with people of all around the world, and I don't know if you know that, not everyone speak perfect english
I love the demo and about all this chat issue, I personally don't need it, but did you notice during the demos that you were playing with people all around the world?, I saw nicknames in japanese, spanish, english and one or two french. When you ask for chat with strangers you are assuming that everyone will speak a perfect english, I believe that it is a bit of a narrowed mind.
I check the score for games that I am not interested in, just for having a general idea about the game, but I always read the review if I am thinking in buy it. In gereral I thrust Nintendolife reviews
For me at least, some years ago, Japan entered the void of moe/ecchi and never escaped from there, if you don't have some schoolgirls or anime characters, probably you will never succeed. This DK is to western in art style and music.
I like what I have seen, and for some reason it reminds me to DK 64, the idea of having different characters with different abilities in more open stages.
You know what?, I'm tired of the double standard of the actual "hardcore gamers". They become mad about Bayonetta 2 exclusivity from nintendo, but they jumped in happiness because killer Instinct would be exclusive for Microsoft.
At the end, the problem with Nintendo is 1/5 Nintendo, with its bad decisions, but 4/5 is all the industry, these days, consoles are just hardware to create identity, like "I am a hardcore gamer", or "Xbone is cool", and not electronic toys to play and have fun, like Nintendo thinks about that. Old style gamers still plays with Nintendo, because the important thing at the end of the day is just have fun, nothing else. Not being part of the "hardcore gamer culture" that plays COD or being "adult and mature" for playing violent game only for the sake of violence. In my personal case, I have a PC and a Wii U, and with those two, I can cover like 80% of the games.
