Re: Review: Resident Evil Revelations (3DS)

3dbrains

Very nice write up.
THIS is why I just got a 3DS again! sold my original launch one because of screen scratching problems but I think I will live with it to play cool games like this on my lunch break and on the bus to work.

Re: Rumour: Wii U "Twice as Powerful as Xbox 360"

3dbrains

I am looking forward to WiiU. I never owned a 360 or a PS3 although I have borrowed friends' on occasion, so I am looking forward to a high def console that actually is REALLY high def.

I already have x4 wii remotes and x3 motion plus, a balance board and a guitar so I look forward to re-using them on WiiU. This was for me the clincher in either waiting for wiiu or selling the wii and getting a 360.

Untill then I am looking forward to play resident evil and metal gear on my shiny new white 3DS (will match my future wiiU)

Re: Kid Icarus's 3DS Stand Coming to North America Too

3dbrains

All this add-on says to me is this:
"Kid Icarus control is soooo bad that you need this to play it comfortably"
or this:
"Lets really rub in the fact that we developed some of the worst controls on this game with such utter stupidity but by making everyone have this plastic piece of rubbish we can sleep at night"

Re: 3DS Hardware and Software Tops Japan's 2011 Charts

3dbrains

Not sure if anyones realised this yet but
Worldwide 3DS software sales topped 8.13 million during the July and September, with Ocarina of Time 3D surpassing the 1 million milestone. Life-to-date software sales of 3DS have now hit 17.56 million.

Nintendo has announced a new worldwide 3DS sales total of 6.68 million units.

That figure covers sales from 3DS launch up to 30th September, as revealed in Nintendo's half-year financial report. These numbers DO NOT include October, November or December sales numbers (I am at work and cannot get onto any recent sites for up to date stats, but these numbers are official and quoted from Eurogamer)

3DS is selling awesomely well.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)

3dbrains

I am 5 hours into the game and I have to say it is both beautiful and extreme FUN!
I love it.
LoZTP was a good start to the Wii's life but this game makes the perfect end.
This game is my light and joy at the moment in these hard times - I'm actually enjoying a game again!
Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, ans Skyrim don't come close to the immersiveness of Skyward Sword.

I've missed having a good time playing a game.

Re: Ubi: Don't Underestimate Nintendo's Ability to Innovate

3dbrains

@deftheman, The Gamecube was very innovative.

1) It had the first controller to have analogue L and R triggers
2) It was the easiest console to pack up and bring round your friends house
3) It had the first controller that was completely wireless (wavebird)
4) It had TINY TINY tiny discs ... - not innovative I hear you cry... but loading times were nearly at zero thanks to the smaller discs and faster read speeds, tonnes better than a slowstation.
5) They matched Sony's PS2 in graphics and then gave it some extra oomph just to rub it in. Matching the xbox in raw power(not faked specs)

Re: 3DS Helps Developers Render Fog Effects Via Its Own Chip

3dbrains

Just to clear up a misconseption I may cause with that last comment... the 3DS is next gen. It is roughly a Wii 2. A wii with more power and grunt. The possibilities to create graphics are incredible
next gen features:
glasses free 3D
next gen shaders and extentions.
larger pipeline.
Network enhanced.
current gen:
DS compatible.
Single stick.
Touch screen.

NGP on the other hand is very powerfull, but not even close to what a PS3 can do. Next gen features of this console are:
Enhanced network.
Possible 3G (games will only be able to use this as an extra side feature as it is not on all versions)
twin sticks.
Current gen:
Touch screen.
Everything else,
including shaders ext which are in line with what PS3 can do and not above.

to conclude.

The NGP games will look incredibly almost as good as a PS3 game.
The 3DS is unlike ANYTHING you have ever seen before.

Re: 3DS Helps Developers Render Fog Effects Via Its Own Chip

3dbrains

The 'fog' effects will be just fine. Unlike the NGP, these effects are NEXT GEN not current gen. Each developer has full control over what each extention does, for example i can make heat/steam effects coming from a kettle and a thick 10 meter vanishing point fog, some ciggarette smoke, and patchy black soot from a fire... ALL WITH THE IN BUILT EXTENTIONS. and that is only using gasious rendering. ('fog' on 3DS is 3D, it has density, volume, and opacity and is different from every angle, no other console can do this with just hardware, not even NGP)

Re: 3DS Helps Developers Render Fog Effects Via Its Own Chip

3dbrains

The chip in question is the CPU built by Armada and Nintendo. It has a graphics IP built in to it called PICA 200 Meastro. The 3DS CPU is a 'system on a chip'.(like hummingbird/snapdragon)

Clock speeds unconfirmed but point towards a 800MHz - 1GHz with multiple pipelines.

  1. DMP's MAESTRO-2G technology

3DS - http://www.dmprof.com/e_news/e_press/372/

As you can see, it does a LOT more than just reproducing fog. It does shading, refraction and rendering ALL WITHOUT using the cpu itself.
Add in the CPU and you get this:

and that was just a quick, first gen demo.

Re: 3DS Audio Features Aren't Exactly Out of Tune

3dbrains

it really is a good thing to be able to do and extends the life of games. As soon as Niintendo did that daft update which killed MP3 support for wii (and also excite truck) i stopped playing it and traded it for a new game.
I loved racing along to lagwagon, nofx, mad caddies and madness. I actually miss it.

Re: 3DS Audio Features Aren't Exactly Out of Tune

3dbrains

brilliant. They did this with Excite Truck and that diving game on Wii. I loved Excite Truck, it was a great game made even better by allowing you to listen to great music of your choice while in game.
This is a great feature, i hope all games have the option of custom soundtrack.

Re: Nintendo Announces Official 3DS UK Launch Line-Up

3dbrains

i will be sitting outside the store all day after buying it, i have a car charger and gamestation is right next to the car park! See if i get any streetpass going on!

Street fighter seems the most logical purchase, best graphics, best features for streetpass and full online. Street fighter is back on its mother console at last!

The more of us buy it, the more fun we'll have with the system!

Re: Nintendo Announces Official 3DS UK Launch Line-Up

3dbrains

bloody hell guys give ninty a break.
PilotWings is a launch title for f's sake!
Fans have been crying for a new pilotwings for years!
I am buying pilotwings, and if I have enough I'll be getting street fighter as well for all the streetpass cool stuff..

Shame no DOA but i can buy that after I complete these two

Re: Europe's 3DS Launch Line-Up According to Gamestation

3dbrains

Dead or Alive is launch title! I am so getting this instead of street fighter!

Also earlier this morning I called Gamestation asking about my preorder colour and the store manager said he played one other day and it is amazing, played a blue one and said the store would also have one in 2 weeks for preorder-ers to play I asked about Sainsbury's selling it at £199 and he said they will be offering PRICE BEATERS closer to the launch so just keep asking and the extra £30 you save can go on a game! how cool

Re: Nintendo's 3DS Events - We Want Your Questions!

3dbrains

toys r us just told me nintendo are not planning releasing exact price information at tomorrows event but using it to show games to public! Price may be revealed in a march press conference for Europe and England.

I hope this is not true.

Also gamestop tell me street fighter, nintendogs, pro evo, kid icarus and dj hero are likely launch titles in England.

I think they are just reading off confirmed games, not launch day titles unfortunatly.

Re: Nintendo's 3DS Events - We Want Your Questions!

3dbrains

i am left handed, i try to learn most things right handed to make life easier but i write with my left hand and find it extremely hard to use the stylus in my right hand, i have practiced with my dsi but with no luck. I can see me missing out some games because of this for example Kid Icarus uses slide pad and touch screen, this is very difficult for a left handed person. I doubt they will change this as the majority of people are right handed.

Re: Nintendo's 3DS Events - We Want Your Questions!

3dbrains

i guess it doesn't matter if you can't think of a scenario where the camera's would stop you using home menu, the fact is, it says it does on nintendo's own website, god has spoken.

New news and best news is 12 games at once tranferring data via streetpass at the same time, up untill now iwata and miyamoto have hinted towards 7 games at once so this is great news for gamers. Still no word on max distance between users for streetpass to function.

Re: Nintendo's 3DS Events - We Want Your Questions!

3dbrains

new info (source - andriasang and nintendo)

Street pass mode can transfer up to 12 registered games at the same time.

Home menu wont function fully if using wifi or cameras, when not using these you can press home to pause the game and go online plus more.

3DS retail boxes are a lot thinner than regular DS boxes.

3DS can be charged with a DSi cable.

Re: Nintendo's 3DS Events - We Want Your Questions!

3dbrains

1. my dsi shoulder buttons broke 3 times on 2 different dsi's, have they fixed this?

2. Are 3D movies definately on it? Can we buy them from launch? How often will they come out? Can we have a good answer for this, please!

I am buying this solely in hope i can watch 3D movies, in 3D without glasses, wherever i want.
