Nintendo formally announced the Switch 2 last week and while some developers appear to have already locked in their support, other studios are still gauging whether or not to release certain titles on the Switch's successor.
One of these developers happens to be Moon Studios, with the CEO Thomas Mahler asking on social media if fans of the studio (as well as Ori games and Nintendo platforms) would be interested in the team's new release, No Rest for the Wicked on Switch 2.
If you haven't heard about this game, it was released in early access on Steam last April, has "mostly positive" user reviews, and is described as a "visceral precision Action RPG" aiming to reinvent the genre. Here's the story and you can check out the trailer below:

The year is 841 – King Harol is dead. As word of his death echoes throughout the kingdom, the crown passes to his arrogant, yet untested son Magnus.
Even worse, the Pestilence, an unholy plague not seen for a thousand years, has returned. It sweeps across the land, corrupting everything and everyone it touches. Madrigal Seline, a ruthlessly ambitious figure in the church, sees the Pestilence as a chance to prove herself in the eyes of her god.
These forces converge on the backwater Isola Sacra, where rebel groups and the provincial government fight for control amid the isle’s crumbling ruins.
You are a Cerim – a member of a group of mystical holy warriors imbued with remarkable powers and sworn to defeat the Pestilence at any cost. But the task will prove increasingly challenging as you become entangled in the people’s plight and the vast political struggle of this downtrodden land. Chaos will pull you in every direction as you seek to cleanse the land of wickedness and shape the kingdom’s fate.
While this might seem like an obvious "yes, you should do it" following the sales success of the Switch, development has become increasingly costly (and timely) in recent years with failures resulting in studio shutdowns, so it doesn't necessarily hurt to gauge markets before committing.
The eShop is also more crowded than ever, making it tough - even for prominent third-party and indie games to stand out.

Yeah, absolutely!
Yes, but only if it runs at 60 fps while retaining the visual style of the game, which I doubt because there are no plans revealed for a PS4 release. Wicked seems to be a really tough action game, and I don’t want to struggle just because of a poor framerate.
This is the first I've heard about this game and ngl this actually looks really good
Absolutely, especially because Moon has proven they're exceptionally talented with porting games to Switch. I have no doubt that this game could look and run great on Switch 2
Yes. Looks like a perfect fit.
I planned to pick this up on PS5, but I'd rather have it on the Switch 2 if it runs well enough.
Of course yes, the game looks awesome 😃
I hope the game also support 5.1 home theatre like the future ps5 version though, I wish switch 2 will have dolby atmos support too.
Ori 3 please, I'll take this in the meantime.
I’m not particularly interested. I’m kind of sick of actiony soulsy RPG. That said, it would probably do well, wouldn’t it? Doesn’t matter whether I’m interested. It should sell decent numbers.
They can publish if they want but will not buy their game as they are now well known as being responsible of a toxic development environment. So while I bought the two Ori games at the time, now I know better and will not support such bad people.
@Max_the_German I understand that having a point of reference is nice for those who are not as familiar with specs and how specs are relative to the user experience, but I think the buzzword of it being 'PS4 level' is wrong and needs to be thrown out, it's far beyond on a base spec level as well as being engineered to be suitable for handheld, meaning simplifying the UI and adjusting for upscaling among other things. This is all based on the leaks, but then so is the presumption that the Switch 2 is comparable to the PS4 so this is fair game.
This is not to also mention that the chip is custom made by Nvidia and Nintendo and is not easily comparable to existing hardware, most definitely not decade year old hardware. It's a modern device and has been specifically designed in mind to accommodate the creators to have more freedom than the Switch provided them with, including third parties.
I guess what I'm trying to say here is let's not presume whether a game will run on the console (or run well for that fact) before we've even seen any games for it aside from 5 seconds of Mario Kart in compressed format.
Well, of course!! What kind of question is that?
I LOVED the Oris on the Switch, great games and great ports. This game would be DAY ONE!
This gets a yes from me 🤓
For me I dont like ARPG's, but being from the Ori dev and looking at the steam page it looks like a good one to bring over for ARPG fans!
@Varkster Fair point, and it is clear that comparisons for the CPU performance are not appropriate in the moment, mainly due to architectural differences. But it’s also clear that the CPU performance will be comparable poor due to power constraints for portable play! We are lucky that the PS4 and Xbox One CPUs were quite poor as well, but it is not unrealistic that even they are significantly more performant.
And the CPU performance determines the ability for ports from PS4/PS5.
@Max_the_German A lot more games nowadays are much more taxing on the GPU than the CPU, and throughout development, especially on consoles which are lighter on the CPU, a lot of tasks were handled instead by the GPU instead of the CPU as a gateway to ease the CPU's load and play demanding games on those systems. It's sort of the integral part of the whole porting process.
I won't go too much into the specifics, there are hardware threads discussing this kind of stuff around the internet where this has been debated for months, as well as a lot of trustworthy game developers coming in and sharing their two cents who know a lot better than both you and I (unless you're a game dev yourself, I don't know). These threads are relatively easy to find if you know where to look for them.
DLSS alone is a major step up from the PS4, I think this one feature is really not to be underestimated, AI upscaling and frame generation really took off on the Nvidia side throughout this generation and they will no doubt push their newest tech onto the next big console that uses their architecture. For gauging just how far DLSS has progressed I suggest watching the latest RTX 5000 series reveal, they put up some flashy numbers, but the point they're trying to make is that the generative AI has made things possible in recent years that have not been 6 years back. Nvidia and Nintendo have had a very good relationship over the years and they were really proud of what they were able to accomplish with the Switch, since the Switch came out a lot of progress was made in the mobile gaming sphere.
The bottom line is my point still stands, I don't imagine we are capable of comparing hardware based on spec sheets alone without first seeing the end-user experience. If games like Flight Simulator (which by the way is a very CPU heavy game) are rumored for the Switch 2, I don't think there is a big worry about other games underperforming.
By the way, I'm not trying to argue in bad faith or anything, it's nice to have a chat about this sort of thing.
@Max_the_German While there are still lots of games releasing on PS4, even this year, we can just assume some devs just want to release on the newer gen, which is PS5.
I looked at gameplays and trailers of the game, and there's nothing I think couldn't run on PS4.
@Max_the_German Apologies for the double-post, I do also want to mention here that what I'm arguing is not whether the Switch 2 will outperform any other system in specs alone, we are not using consoles to mine bitcoin, we are using them to play games, so in the end what speaks for how much potential a system can have is the end-user experience, not raw numbers on a piece of paper.
This is primarily why I hold my opinion strongly on staying the hand on assuming how games will run on the console before we know more (at least by seeing the Direct in April).
Modern technology custom built by specialists in the scene, and arguably the most talented and most funded ones (Nvidia and Nintendo) is not going to provide underwhelming experiences, especially since Nintendo is well aware the Switch missed out on a good chunk of third party games during its lifecycle, and in their most recent investor meeting it was clear they were trying to remedy that. They even had a whole segment discussing how important third party relations are to them and pointing out just how well those games sold during the Switch's lifecycle.
It looks amazing but a little too gamey for me. And that may feel like a contradictory thing to feel with... you know... a game... but I wish there would be a few more games more grounded... a little more realistic feeling.
The eShop is crowded but hopefully Switch 2 will improve the layout and general OS. And please Nintendo sort out the awful save data delete function. I probably have a ton of old unused junk buried in there from the early days of the Switch but since it can take about five minutes to delete just one save the idea of doing 100, well.....
The more the merrier
Port begging continues?
Why… maybe they should just say that they’re going to put it on Switch 2, because otherwise they’ll miss out on a bunch of potential customers.
No why, who wants games on a console. What a ridiculous question.
Personally I would prefer GTA6 on the Switch 2 NGL. Sorry Moon Studios but it’s not even close.
I get annoyed with these rhetorical questions just for the sake of stirring up some hype. Bring it to Switch 2 if you want, it depends if you like money I guess?
I vote to finish the PC version before even thinking about.
Well, yes. But optimise it for crying out loud.
That would be good, but I'd much prefer new Ori games. Both are in my best game of the past decade list
Depending on how it runs/performs, yes! This game will either be a PC and Steam Deck or Switch 2 vibe for me!
@Olmectron It could run on PS4, but not on a quality level many gamers today would accept.
I watched the trailer! It seems interesting enough, I like overhead action games and it is beautiful
Then it says “roguelite progression” and I guess I’m just a hater, but I closed out the tab. It feels like every third game is made up of randomized elements and it burns me the tf out.
The answer is yes.
I am not going to answer that. It will sell anyway on a platform that is similar to the current Nintendo Switch. It looked interesting when I first saw the game. If it will be available on the Switch 2 there is a possibility that I buy it.
Sure it looks good, I got both Ori games and I loved them both, so yeah these guys are good.
Im most likely going to buy it on Steam once its out of EA, but Switch 2 support will make me double dip Im sure
not looking bad - it will sure find its audience
Definitely! I remember watching a video showing how they got the Ori games to look and run so well on the Switch and the creative tricks they used were so cool. Great developers!
Definitely want to see it happen for those interested, potentially me included, and I'd say that at this point it has been proven that there's an audience for such games on Switch and most likely the same will be true for the successor, too!
If it can run well with short load times, yes
HELL YEA!!!
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!
I think we're good but thank you for asking!
@Max_the_German PC requirements are relatively tame for this, I think 60FPS would be more than possible on Switch 2, or 30FPS if they can't be bothered optimising.
YES! A thousand times YES
I don't care about this game I just want Ori 3.
Oh... we're doing the port begging thing again?
Eh, whatever. If it comes to Switch 2, great, if not there's always a ton of other great games to play ^_^
If a game never hits Switch by the end of its game releases, chances are I want it on Switch 2, simple as that. Seriously, do we need to relive 2017? I don't recall studios requesting a show of hands for No Man's Sky, Hogwarts Legacy or Red Dead Redemption on Switch in the more recent years.😅
. . . No? Is that a question or is it meant to be rhetorical?
Hell yeah! Great looking game
@Max_the_German There are lots of games still releasing on PS4.
https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/new-ps4-games-release-dates-in-2025
None would release games for PS4 by now if people didn't keep purchasing them. If they can't get a game like "No rest for the wicked" to work and look fine there, they are simply and plainly bad developers.
@Olmectron I know, PS4 releases will remain a thing, because it is technically very similar to PS5 (especially SDK-wise), and the power is sufficient for many games. From what I’ve seen in videos, CoD Black Ops 6 runs good and PS4 and great on PS4 Pro.
From the games on this list, maybe half of them will also come to Switch 2, or even more.
Maybe, never heard of it. It's probably a fine game so why not, try for an audience and see if it's worth it, whoever responds as such towards it to support the developer or the game or whatever the case.
In terms of an M/adult rating I get it, is it worth the risk or it's not like Ori or their others games. But the thing is to me at least it looks very trendy/boring so I can't really say I'm the target audience but the world/creatures look cool the rest just looks very played out and done to death where I don't care enough about it. Gameplay via movesets or missions/level design otherwise the artstyle, world and characters look good the former look bland and repetitive and just don't excite me sorry.
Best of luck to them for audiences that are more interested in this then I am. They have an interesting game still regardless of what I think.
I dunno that chick's not hot and I'm really stupid
"...it was released in early access on Steam last April, has "mostly positive" user reviews..."
That means Steam users rank it as a "below average" game.
(The median game in Steam user ratings is in the "very positive" range)
Heck yeah, I would even double dip, which I have done before between the eShop and Steam.
Curious they're "asking" unless they need buzz to convince high-ups to let them. It certainly looks cool. It's generally assumed Nintendo punches below Sony's weight in tech, so I'll always welcome any crossover proving it can keep up.
Devs are so annoying when they do this. I miss the put it on everything including a toaster days. I want games on switch 2. You make games? Put it on switch 2.
