@Rodolfo6493 I checked their Brazilian account and it’s true.
However they didn’t even say that for when they announced games like Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Possible chance those games might not be available in Brazilian Portuguese, but Nintendo has said they would include it in future games (except remakes/remasters which is stupid as they can easily add the language onto there).
If lucky, those games (+ Metroid Prime 4) might also be in European Portuguese and Russian even though the Direct for Portugal didn’t showcase them in those languages along with Russia not having a Nintendo YouTube channel, but the Russian translation team is probably still at Nintendo of Europe waiting to translate games again.
@MrCarlos46 It could be a strategy on Nintendo's part to announce localization when the games are closer to release. They could have said that MP4 would be in Portuguese in the last Direct, but they chose to postpone the information.
Or Nintendo will prefer to localize only the games from the most famous franchises, which would be a shame.
@Rodolfo6493 Probably the case of the former, although it would be interesting to see the Switch 2 support more languages and games like Metroid Prime 4 to support those new languages when played on Switch 2.
@Rodolfo6493 Now that it comes to me, when the Switch system language is set to European Portuguese, do Switch games that come with Brazilian Portuguese but not European Portuguese default into English or play in Brazilian Portuguese?
@MrCarlos46 My account is Brazilian, and when a game has only Portuguese from Portugal (like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, for example), it uses that language as the default.
It must be like that in Portugal too.
@Rodolfo6493 Not Brazilian myself but I won’t lie, with the development of the MK8D Booster Course Pass, it kinda felt like a missed opportunity to add Brazilian Portuguese to the game. It could have been added alongside the release of the Booster Course Pass or while the waves came out, either as an update or a separate free DLC language pack.
@MrCarlos46 Namco did this with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
And while we're at it, Nintendo Portugal page is showing that the new Rhythm Heaven will have Portuguese language.
Now all that's missing is Tomodachi Life.

Same goes for all European Nintendo websites. However they didn’t even specify about the variety of Portuguese that will be added to the game, so it will either be a similar case as with most Switch games where it’s only a Brazilian Portuguese translation and they’ll specify on the Portugal website (like Super Mario Party Jamboree) or the new Rhythm Heaven game is actually getting separate Brazilian and European Portuguese translations.
@Rodolfo6493 Nintendo just announced that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be playable in Brazilian Portuguese as of a free update when the Switch 2 comes out on June 5th, although they didn’t specify if it was just for the Switch 2 versions of those games or also for the original versions.
Also unknown if those games will be dubbed or just localized.
@MrCarlos46 I just checked, the update will come to the original versions too, great news!
I have the physical BotW and TotK, but I've never played them.
*Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong: Bananza in Portuguese.
@Rodolfo6493 They still didn’t say if Kirby and the Forgotten Land would be translated (and have the Dream Discoveries Tour voice dubbed) into Brazilian Portuguese as part of a Switch 2 Edition being made, but following both Zelda games being translated, it’s not out of the realm (as well as for other games like Super Mario Odyssey).
Kirby Air Riders will likely be translated, although Nintendo Brasil hasn’t announced it yet.
EDIT: I just found a tweet on Nintendo Brasil announcing the Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and it does not mention anything about how it will soon be playable in Brazilian Portuguese, so that’s probably out of the picture…
@MrCarlos46 They didn't mention anything in the Forgotten Land Twitter post, so I don't think it's going to be localized (and I think the chances are even lower for games with free updates).
But I've already been very pleased with the Zeldas, I really didn't expect this.
@MrCarlos46 DK will also have dubbing in Brazilian Portuguese, I saw the news yesterday.
The Welcome Tour will also be localized (since it is basically the system tutorial, I think it will have all possible languages).
@Rodolfo6493 I actually checked the Japanese page for the Welcome Tour and it does not list Russian as a supported language, so maybe not all supported languages if true.
I'll be honest, all those games coming out in Portuguese make me look forward to introducing them to my young cousins, including my godchild. Though I have yet to see how good the localization happens to be (beyond an inspired adaptation for Redeads in EoW).
@BrazillianCara Lately aside from remakes or remasters Nintendo has had a consistent lineup of games coming out in Brazilian Portuguese, and that list will only grow over time.

Thanks to the Nintendo Language Guide, I was able to check the supported languages for the Switch 2 Welcome Tour and it says it will not be in European Portuguese and Russian. Same for Metroid Prime 4.
Donkey Kong Bananza also won’t be in European Portuguese but it will be in Russian.
@Rodolfo6493 I also used the language guide to check supported languages for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and it shows the game won’t be in Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese and Russian, although that probably wasn’t a decision by Nintendo and was instead decided by Koei Tecmo.
