September wasn't a bad month at all with games like Splatoon 3 and Return to Monkey Island, but October is shaping up to be even better.
This month we've got a lot of heavy-hitters ranging from Switch versions of NieR:Automata and No Man's Sky to Persona 5 Royal. The Bayonetta series will also make its long-awaited return, and if that wasn't enough Mario + Rabbids are back in a brand new adventure. Here's what to be on the lookout for this month:
NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition - October 6th 2022
No Man's Sky - October 7th 2022
LEGO Bricktales - October 12th 2022
Dragon Ball: The Breakers - October 14th 2022
Them’s Fightin’ Herds - October 18th 2022
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope - October 20th 2022
New Tales from the Borderlands - October 21st 2022
Persona 5 Royal - October 21st 2022
Bayonetta 3 - October 28th 2022
What games on this list will you be checking out in the month of October? Tell us below.

Slow month again, waiting on Advance Wars, Fire Emblem and Zelda. Nintendo don't want my cash!
Big month for me…
Nier Automata
No Man’s Sky
Bayonetta 3
Mario+Rabbids
Persona 5
My wallet is sad/empty…
An absolutely insane month.
Nier, Persona, Rabbids and Bayonetta are day 1. No Man's Sky later. Might check out Borderlands as well. But yeah, one of the Switch's best months ever.
Wake me up when we get a new donkey kong or kid Icarus
@Koffyman Good night sweet Prince.
I probably won’t buy it at launch, but I am very interested in LEGO Bricktales!
@Koffyman slept right through some of the worst years then huh?
@andyg1412 for me, it's a hell of a month. I have 4 games in the pipeline that I'm eyeing. Might only buy 2 on day one though.
Sparks of Hope
And Silksong. Because Silksong is totally coming out in October 🤞
My choice.
Nothing for me in October. Still got Splatoon 3 and XC3 to hold me over until Pokemon Violet.
As great as Nier and Persona are, I’ve already experienced them. Nothing for me on Switch in October, but that’s ok. I’m mostly clearing backlog and playing Splatoon until the Village DLC drops. I might try Overwatch 2 for a bit and see how that goes, despite all the online vitriol over it. It’s been an excellent year for the Switch, so I’m ok with what I have until Pokemon in November.
Lots of famous franchises I've never played coming out this month-- I likely won't buy any of these at full price but Nier Automata, Persona 5, and Bayonetta 3 are at least going on the wishlist.
I didn't know anything about No Man's Sky until I watched this YouTube video, but now I'm tempted by it.
As for Mario and Rabbids, I need to finish the first game before I think about the sequel-- I played it halfway through and enjoyed it but then I just stopped for some reason.
I usually only buy full-price games if I'm very impatient for them, so October will likely be a pause while I wait for Pokemon in November, but my wishlist is definitely going to get chubby in the meantime.
we will have Factorio on October 28th
I like only 2:
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (Switch)
Fighting Herds (i have this game on Steam)
I´ll wait to buy Mario + Rabbids 2...untill the DLC and complete game (on sale).
So...nothing to me on october...but it´s not a problem. I´ve never played switch this much like now.....I´m playing everyday and it´s great this way.
Nier has been pre installed and Bayo3 has been purchased with an NSO ticket (Splatoon 3 being her partner purchase). I'll be picking up Star Ocean on the dusty ol' PS5 as well.
As for the other games. I don't touch anything Ubisoft. Persona is bit too expensive coming out the gate (will be on sale fairly quick like 5 strikers and smt3 am sure). No man's sky is tempting, maybe will pick that one in December which seems pretty bare bones month for me. Don't know what Lego Bricktales and Them's fightin' herds entail so not been on my radar. Don't care for the 'humour' of borderlands and while the Dragonball game looks pretty neat, I am just not into online only games (in need of friends for those kind of things).
Getting bayo 3 day one. And maybe NMS. The rest I can wait until BF/sales. Amazing month of releases however.
Just waiting for Pokrmon, Octopath 2, and Zelda.
Never played a Persona game before so looking forward to it.
i can't wait to play this masterpiece on my extended battery Switch(Bayonetta 3).
Persona 5 Royal is one of the best JRPG's of all time. Enjoy. Havent played NieR:Automata but want too
I'm interested in all of those main games mentioned with most being insta-downloads. Though that may not exactly transpire as I will have to spread these downloads or physical purchases over November as well for economic reasons!
I'm looking forward to nier automata on switch because I'd love to have it on the go and away from my PC. Been looking forward to Bayonetta 3 since it was announced. I'm also curious about the switch port of No Man's Sky. I have low expectations for performance, but can't wait to see how it turns out regardless. I'd love to try out persona 5 but man, that's a game I'll have to wait for.
I might pick up Nier Automata, I'm not entirely sure yet. I have it on PS4 and haven't played much there, but I tend to prefer playing on Switch... I'll probably stick to PS4, but it's tempting to get it on Switch still. Other than that, Dragon Ball: The Breakers is the only other game on this list that interests me right now. I need to try the first Bayonetta before I decide if I'm interested in the sequels, but even if I am, it'll be a while before I get around to 3. I'd rather get No Man's Sky on Steam so I can play it in VR. I will get the Resident Evil Village DLC on PS5, but that's the only game/DLC I can say I'm definitely making sure I pick up this month honestly. I'm kinda glad this month doesn't have much that interests me, it'll be a nice break before the next few months get really crazy!
@andyg1412 slow month??!??!!
Nier Automata and Persona 5 Royal coming to Switch, also physical. 2 insane successful games where a lot of people are crying in joy. Mario and Rabbids will be another damn good tactic game. And Bayonetta 3 is releasing!
What's your problem, get a life!
@Nintendo4Sonic are you crying too? I bought a Switch for quality first party games. My money my choice, you get an (extra) life
Just Bayonetta 3 for me.
@andyg1412 Nintendo has one big first party game (almost) each month. So Bayonetta 3 this month.
A lot of them I like it, but it's missing Overwatch 2.
Will grab them all. Apart from one on the list.
Surely I will buy Mario and Rabbits Sparks of Hope one day.
@sanderev bayo is not my thing, not knocking it but it's not for me. Next year will blow this year away just because of FEE, Zelda and Pikmin 4.
@andyg1412 you're acting like this is a dull month with almost nothing noticeable. But it isn't, it's a great month.
I also have a PS5 and still it's a great Switch month.
Unreal month. Bayo and Rabbids for sure, might cop Nier Auto as well if it run decent on Switch. Borderlands is tempting too.
@andyg1412 Yikes, you're coocoo if you think October is a slow month. 🤪
why isn't overwatch 2 on this list?
@EVIL-C where's the big game for Christmas? Also I pride myself on being a bit cuckoo 🐓🐓🤣
Bayonetta 3 and maybe nier automata for me if nier port is good, I'll play persona 5 royal on gamepass / series x (I have the game for ps4 but didn't play it yet because getting distracted by other games).
@andyg1412 Next year will blow this year away because of Mario
@Skunkfish there's no shortage of Mario games on the Switch, how about more F Zero, DK or Starfox.
@andyg1412 If only! I think there was a rumour about a DK game in development though? I want a sequel to Gameboy Donkey Kong
Bayonetta, Mario and Rabbids and Overwatch 2 for me.
Only getting Bayonetta 3 but that will be more than enough, the first two are both in my top 10 favorite action games of all-time.
Picking up Persona 5 (already own it on PS4 but still), not really interested in any of these others.
only interested in Mario + Rabbids
You forgot Chaos;Head Noah / Chaos;Child. The Steam version of Chaos;Head Noah was canceled due to its content but the Switch version is still a go. It comes out Friday so I hope to see a review next weekend. I'm also picking up Persona 5 Royal this month. Bayonetta 3 will be on my wanted list for the future. Almost forgot Harmonia and Needy Girl Overdose. I'm getting those from PlayAsia.
@andyg1412 The reason people are taking issue with your comment is it comes off as dismissive. I think we can all agree we know of a lot of games that are popular and "a big deal" that we don't personally enjoy. For example, two of the three games you listed, you couldn't pay me to play, but if they arrived in the same month, I wouldn't describe it as a slow month because I know they're a big deal to a lot of people.
