Downwell (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £1.80 (33% off)
This is an excellent port of a game that feels like it’s found a natural home on Switch thanks to a plethora of control options and the console’s natural facility with vertical orientation. Short of popping your 4K TV on its side, Switch offers the very best way to play Downwell. Its roguelike structure and twitch platforming might not be for everyone, but you should really give it a chance. For our money, it’s a modern classic that should be in everyone’s collection.
Huntdown (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £7.19 (60% off)
Huntdown is a delightfully detailed and expertly crafted throwback to old-school run 'n' gun arcade shooters. The 16-bit graphical style is immaculately recreated whilst adding lots of modern bells and whistles to proceedings, including a fantastic soundtrack and audio design, optional CRT filter and an arsenal of heavy-duty weapons that chew scenery and enemies to pieces as your bounty hunter makes their way from boss fight to excellent boss fight. The flow of levels may be quite repetitive but the moment-to-moment gameplay, overall sense of fun that comes from the level of carnage you can dish out, surprising amount of hammy spoken dialogue and constant pop-culture references all combine to make this one an easy recommendation.
Eschatos (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £18.62 (10% off)
The ultimate M-KAI package, this three-strong historical evolution is the purest distillation of the developer’s vision for the shoot-em-up. Eschatos’ beautiful bombast will suck you in, fire up the adrenaline, and spit you back out with an instant just-one-more-go mindset. If that’s not worth diving into, why are you playing games at all?
Overcooked! All You Can Eat (Switch)
Sale Price: £14.99 (50% off)
Overcooked! All You Can Eat is an absolute must-buy for anybody looking for a fantastic party game to play with friends. The wacky visuals and chaotic gameplay make it an ideal game for local co-op, and there’s plenty of content to work through with the entirety of Overcooked and Overcooked 2 to feast on. Across the entire series so far, Team17 and Ghost Town Games have explored a lot of cool ideas via DLC content, and ensured that each expansion had unique theming and gameplay mechanics. Considering that all of this is offered in addition to the stellar base campaign, this buffet really stands as a no-brainer. The only downside is that those who have already dipped into either title (or both) won't find a massive amount of new stuff here, outside of the exclusive "Peckish Rises" expansion. Still, very tasty.

Death's Door (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £12.59 (30% off)
Death's Door is a modern classic, utilizing old gameplay ideas in a new setting to make for a short and sweet experience you won’t want to miss. The snappy combat, rewarding exploration, and relaxing music will stick with you once you've finished, and while it may not have anything 'new' to offer, Death’s Door is so high quality that you’ll hardly have time to think about it's lack of innovation. We’d give this one a very high recommendation, especially to any fans of Zelda or Soulslike games — Acid Nerve has crafted an experience that’s absolutely worth your time and money.
Iconoclasts (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £7.19 (60% off)
Iconoclasts is a memorable, thought-provoking, and enjoyable take on the Metroidvania genre which manages to stick out from the crowd with its chipper presentation and deeper storytelling style. Couple those elements with some of the best 16-bit sprite work we’ve seen and a killer lineup of awesome boss encounters, and you’ve got another must-have for the Switch library. Don’t miss out on this one.
Raiden IV x Mikado Remix (Switch)
Sale Price: £20.99 (30% off)
Yes, Raiden IV is not a typical shmup by contemporary standards, and won’t be for everyone. Equally, all of these modes have been available in some form elsewhere. But as a single package, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix offers the Switch one of its best shooting game releases yet – and that is saying something on a console that has emerged as an unexpected star vehicle for the genre.
Thumper (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £3.99 (75% off)
Thumper is a fantastic video game, an extravagant rhythm experience that's also a brutal assault on the senses. It's extremely difficult - painfully so at times - yet we feel the need to persevere, retrying tough stages over and over again. Even when that's done, the drive for better ranks remains simply because the game compels us to play on. The only real flaw of Thumper, in actual fact, is that it offers so little respite and no 'easy' mode for players. Some may scoff at that, saying it's a game designed to be tough, but the downside is that without that optional concession the game will be inaccessible and impenetrable for some players. That's a pity, as for those up for the challenge it's a wonderful - albeit gruelling - gaming experience.
World of Goo (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £5.99 (50% off)
World of Goo is a true classic, and it's revered for good reason. 2D Boy's game is instantly accessible but with plenty of depth; it's paced out perfectly, with a steady stream of new tricks and techniques to learn; and its puzzles can be solved with forward-thinking, quick reflexes or a mixture of both. Wrapped up in a unique, pleasantly apocalyptic presentation, with co-op support and a harder 'OCD' mode for added replay value, this is a complete puzzle package. If you've played it previously, the Switch incarnation might be worth a second go for its portable pointer controls and on-the-go co-op, but if it's your first time into the World of Goo it's absolutely a must-play, and this is — in our minds — the definitive version.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £8.49 (50% off)
While utilising the ruleset of a more traditional CCG system might put off some players, the on-brand approach to turn-based combat in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is still a positive addition to the world. Because with such an involved and intricately designed story – and such an interesting world to explore beyond the confines of Geralt – Thronebreaker offers the opportunity to lose yourself in the Continent like never before.
Collection of Mana (Switch)
Sale Price: £17.49 (50% off)
What you've got here are two of the finest examples of the genre, accompanied by a third likeable entry which is also well worth a look. When you consider how many titles Konami is packing into its Anniversary Collection packages – and that their retail price is almost half what Square Enix is demanding for the three games included here – it's impossible to not question the value of Collection of Mana. However, there's no denying the fact that Secret of Mana is one of the finest console RPGs of all time, and even though it's readily available elsewhere, playing it on Switch is like wrapping yourself up in a warm and familiar blanket; it's just right somehow. We could argue that Secret of Mana is merely the appetiser for the real star of this collection: Trials of Mana. It's nothing short of a masterpiece and finally getting the chance to play it officially in English is a landmark moment for SNES and RPG fans alike.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Switch)
Sale Price: £33.29 (33% off)
There was a lot riding on it, but Fire Emblem: Three Houses managed to live up to the hype and will stand as a highlight in the series for years to come. The expanded gameplay styles, retooled combat, lovable characters, and in-depth character customisation hook you fast and are almost guaranteed to keep you engaged for dozens, if not hundreds, of hours as you come to understand this enormous game in its entirety. Fans both new and old won’t want to miss out on what Fire Emblem: Three Houses has to offer; this sets a new standard for what a strategy RPG can be and proved itself to be a must-have release for the Nintendo Switch.
The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £5.39 (80% off)
Croteam, the creators of The Talos Principle, were previously known primarily for their silly (but fun) Serious Sam titles. The Talos Principle shows a remarkable maturity and depth of scope that's perhaps surprising, but in a very good way. It poses interesting questions, allows the player to progress at their own pace — mostly in a non-linear fashion — and is a hugely satisfying piece of game design. Utterly entrancing and highly recommended.
Gleylancer (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £4.19 (30% off)
Gleylancer's fantastic use of parallax scrolling adds not only speed but excitement to its varied eleven stages of 16-bit shmupness, which takes you down through icy depths, weaves between small gaps in tight tunnels, slowly loops around a gigantic battleship, or hurtles through an asteroid field. The ways your Movers — the floating gun turrets that follow your ship — can behave are so different from one another they have a direct impact on how you tackle everything from “popcorn” enemies to level bosses, and the newfound flexibility of Modern Mode feels like the perfect twist on an already brilliant idea. Gleylancer is as fresh and thrilling as it’s ever been, only now it’s as authentic — or accessible — as you want it to be too.
No More Heroes (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £8.99 (50% off)
No More Heroes is something very rare – a game that’s actually better now than it was on its original bow, showing us just how little the gaming landscape has actually moved forward. It is certainly, avowedly not for everyone – and you get the impression that’s just how director Suda51 likes it. Artier than most art games, more thoughtful than most think pieces, and cruder than crude oil, No More Heroes uses its own repetition to decisive, impressive effect. Glorious, gore-ious, gorgeous and gregarious, this madcap anime nightmare deserves your attention. If you missed it on Wii, buy it immediately. If you didn’t, you most likely already have.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £8.99 (50% off)
A fine sequel, Travis Touchdown’s sophomore effort turns the mania up to eleven for an unforgettable blood-soaked thrill ride. While No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is a little more generic in terms of its narrative, it makes up for this wholesale with brilliant pacing, fantastic minigames and a whole brace of new, ingenious assassins to cut to pieces. As confident a follow-up as you could ever want, this is Grasshopper at the top of their game. Another fantastic port of a fantastic title.
Slime-san (Switch eShop)
Sale Price: £4.50 (55% off)
Slime-san is a brilliantly snappy, charismatic and challenging title that manages to deliver a satisfying core game with tonnes of bonus extras to play around with besides. The controls are spot-on, the environments are varied and engaging, and while other platformers may have tread similar ground before, Slime-san weaves together so many different elements into a finely-crafted experience that it deserves a place among the best in the genre. That's not even mentioning a handful of arcade game modes, a suite of options for speedrunning, and a soundtrack that almost warrants the price of admission alone. It represents immense value for money, and if you're itching for something weird then the future is most certainly green.

I am genuinely tempted to pick up Skyward Sword HD from this, €40 for an insane enhancement of the original game sounds almost too good to be true. Now it's just the matter of do I get it physically to save on space but it's more expensive or do I get it digitally with it's chunky file size of 7.5 GB. Decisions, decisions....
The sale prices would have been helpful, as that will almost always be a major factor in deciding to buy during a sale.
What would their sales be if they did it for NA at the same time?
@Fizza I would say just do it
For me the game is amazing, i have between 70 and 80 hours in the game and i liked every single second i've spend in the game
This is the first sale for Bayonetta and I'm seriously considering buying it. Except I'm not sure I like the genre, since I prefer JRPGs and interactive stories. But I like some chaotic storytelling.
Scott Pilgrim for less than £4 is a bargain
Tells people games to buy on the eShop, makes sure every game has their Amazon links and none of the prices for the eShop versions prices listed. (giggles internally)
I am really disappointed that the Famicom Detective Club isn't on sale as I would have thought it would have been on sale by now.
I've got 39 of those 83 games.
Will definitely finally pick up Bayo 1 + 2
Edit: I don't get why the two Xenoblade games aren't at sale considering XC3 releases in 3 months. Pretty sure the announcement of XC3 got some people interested in the series
Guess now's my chance to pick up Rain World (currently 50% off). Both its atmosphere and challenge seems almost too good to resist.
We've added the sale price and % discount for each entry, plus another couple of games that slipped through the net.
I got bioshock collection from cd keys for £10.99 just a few days ago bargain at that price plus it’s cheaper than the eshop
The messenger should be £7.19 surely
Alien Isolation is back at its lowest ever price, I think i'll be getting it!
Ahh was hoping for Diablo 2.
I am currently playing Diablo 1 with the DevilutionX Port, what a great Port.
The Game looks really great through my Laptop on the TV and the Controller Support is great.
Even better, Save Games can be easily send to my Phone, RG351V or other PC.
I wish What The Golf? were on sale for just £0.79! The sale price is actually £10.79 (40% of £17.99).
Outrun and Downwell are pretty much essential at those prices
Never even considered the Ruined King until I saw it on the list here and read your review. Off to buy it now. Love me some quality RPGs.
The Messenger is wrongly priced, it's £7.19 not £17.99
Rogue Aces at just shy of two quid is an absolute bargain. Gamers of a certain age who liked Jetstrike on the Amiga/PC back in the day will certainly enjoy it.
Recommending anything with only 10% off is foolish.
Also Narita Boy is on sale. Get it!
Gris for £3.62 is a good shout!
"Catherine: Full Body is a fantastic revamp of a bonafide cult classic. With an excellent new character and several new endings slickly inserted into an already highly entertaining narrative – not to mention a slew of fun new modes – this is the definitive version of an outstanding game. If you've never played Catherine before then you're in for an absolute treat, and if you have, we'd say there's enough new content here to make it worth diving in all over again."
This tells me nothing about the genre of the game or how it plays.
Catherine and Dusk for me
Sure, I totally have over 1000 pounds lying around doing nothing, so I totally should buy 85 games that are on sale.
YS VIII is simply extraordinary, in my opinion, and is a complete steal at that price. It was the first new entry into my all time top 10 for over a decade! A wondrous action RPG with great characters, an intriguing story, addictive combat, and a gorgeous setting.
@inenai You don't have any of these already? Bruh... do you even Switch?
On the fence for that street fighter collection
From this list, my top picks would be Iconoclasts, ABZU, Witcher 3, and Monster Hunter GU. All great games and, besides ABZU, they'll all give you way more than your money's worth in play time. Don't know about in Europe, but in the US Doom 2016/Eternal are $20 each for another day or two and Monster Hunter Rise is $30. Dragon's Dogma is also $15, which I think it's been before, but it's still an absolute steal.
@Fizza Love that game. Probably still my favorite Zelda overall and definitely my favorite for the story and music.
Old games on sale and overpriced. This is like when the wii was popular and companies tried to sell overpriced junk to the wii user base. Soon people are going to realise they are buying decade old games that perform badly and paying top dollar for it.
Outside of telltales games from years ago and dangonrompa 2 I haven't played any visual novels. I think I should change that. Help me interest, which one on sale should I buy? I was thinking phoenix wright or ai but I'm open to suggestions.
Other than that there's doesn't seem to be a while load for for me. I was thinking mystery dungeon but it's still a bit expensive (and knowing my luck Nintendo would afterwards announce the Gameboy expansion with the gam win it...). Was hoping for xenoblades or cadence of hyrule but they're a no show.
Gonna give the dragon quest XI demo a go and if so, cash in. If not, Disco Eylsium.
Dammit, I still have so many games to play from previous sales.
EDIT: Do NOT buy House in Fata Morgana! Even by visual novel standards, it's garbage!
Out Run is a must have for any Switch owner.
Street Fighter also if you have access to a d-pad.
I was really hoping for Diablo II on sale. 😮💨
Anyone else having problems loading up this page on their phone?
I bought Evergate recently on Xbox Series X and it was a lovely game but admittedly it made me sad due to the nature of it and at one point I came close to crying because it made me think of my dad who passed away from Cancer in 2015.
@sirmrguitardude overpriced is subjective plus, why are you here if you don't like Nintendo?
Picked up Senran Kagura: Peach Ball
...you know why.
@Fizza personally I prefer physical because you can sell the game later. I only buy digital games for online only titles that have no second hand value or for crazy discounts.
Dragon Quest XI S, Okami, Skyward Sword HD, all worth getting if you haven't picked em up already. (Also happen to be high in the list of most played games on my Switch alongside Pure Pool and BOTW)....
@NinjaNicky I'm here because I own a switch and was looking for a good deal. I saw none and left a comment. Weird I have to explain that.
@Fizza Do you have any idea when the US spring sale will start?
@Gwynbleidd Okami is gold. Much like Wind Waker it’s not about difficulty levels it’s about a game taking you on an amazing journey and you seeing the conclusion.
Great article but now I am thinking how do I avoid dipping. I have a backlog and plenty of good games I haven't got near in a while and yet there are loads on this list screaming 'buy me, but me'!
May dip into a couple around the fiver mark and get round to them.... eventually
Heads up for anyone buying Mario + Rabbids, make sure you get the gold edition as it is better.
